Fahadh Faasil’s Surprising Remarks on ‘Pushpa’, States He Gained Nothing from the Film

    May 7, 2024

Pushpa‘ is a film that raised Tollywood’s profile to a Pan-India scale, showcasing Bunny’s best performance to date. In this movie, Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil gained recognition not only in Telugu cinema but across India as well. Fahadh delivered a standout performance, second only to Bunny. However, in a recent interview, Fahadh Faasil’s striking remarks about the film sparked significant conversation within Tollywood.

I did not gain anything with Pushpa.

In a recent interview with Film Companion, Fahadh Faasil, an actor from Kerala, shared his candid thoughts. When the anchor suggested that ‘Pushpa’ had elevated him to a Pan-India actor, Fahadh responded with a surprising rebuttal. “Nothing like that. ‘Pushpa’ did nothing for me,” he said. He even mentioned that he had communicated this sentiment to director Sukumar. “There’s nothing to hide. I continue to make films in Malayalam. I don’t mean to disrespect anyone, but I’m just stating the truth. I don’t believe the audience is expecting magic from me with ‘Pushpa’.”

I agreed it because of Sukumar

During the interview, the anchor stated that a Bollywood actor had hesitated to sit with him, hinting at Fahadh’s elevated status. When asked if ‘Pushpa’ was the reason for his heightened recognition, Fahadh replied, “I did ‘Pushpa’ purely out of love for Sukumar. It’s exciting that now even audiences unfamiliar with Malayalam are watching Malayalam films. However, I don’t believe that ‘Pushpa’ has significantly changed my position.”

My favorite stars are just that: Fahadh

Responding to another query from the anchor, Fahadh emphasized that he sees himself simply as an actor, not a Pan-India star. He praised Rajkumar as a great actor and described Ranbir Kapoor as the best actor in the country. In other news, Fahadh’s recent film ‘Aavesham‘ has achieved blockbuster status, earning Rs. 150 crores at the box office. Fahadh is currently occupied with the shooting of ‘Pushpa 2’, scheduled for release on August 15.
