Mega Prince Varun Tej’s latest film, Operation Valentine, was released on Friday and has garnered positive talk worldwide, sparking a buzz about its collections. With no big films competing, it was expected to do good. Directed by Shakti Pratap Singh Hada, the film draws inspiration from recent tense events between India and Pakistan, reflecting incidents from the Pulwama attacks in 2019 to the Balakot Air Strikes. It showcases the destruction of enemy establishments and patriotic scenes, culminating in a spectacular climax, as praised by audiences on social media.
Collections Report…
According to preliminary estimates by the prominent website Sacnik, the film collected ₹1.25 crores on its opening day (Operation Valentine Box Office Collection). However, it mentioned that the final tally is yet to be completed and that this figure is not the final amount. Another Bollywood website, Koimoi, revealed that Operation Valentine managed to collect between ₹3 crores and ₹4 crores. It pointed out that these collections are significantly lower compared to Varun Tej’s previous films, recalling that his last movie, F3, garnered up to ₹15 crores on its opening day.
Could This Be The Reason?
The concurrent scheduling of intermediate exams and competitive exam notifications in Telugu states might have impacted the film’s collections. However, given the positive reception, there’s a chance for a substantial increase in collections over the weekends.
Positive Reviews
On the other hand, Varun Tej captivated audiences with his performance, embodying a true fighter pilot. His proficiency in emotional scenes was also noted. Manushi Chhillar, alongside Varun, justified her role well, and their romantic scenes were appreciated. The roles played by Navdeep, Mir Sarwar, and Ruhani Sharma also contributed to the film’s appeal. Technically, the film is of high caliber, with battle scenes that promise a visual feast for viewers.
Heading to OTT Soon!
The movie “Operation Valentine” has been acquired by Amazon Prime Video for a hefty price for its digital rights. However, the film is set to stream on OTT platforms four weeks after its theatrical release. It is expected to arrive on OTT in the first week of April. While the theatrical version was released in Telugu and Hindi, the OTT version will stream not only in Telugu but also in other South Indian languages.
