The 68th National Film Awards winners were declared. The Directorate of Film Festivals of the Indian Government is in charge of administering the renowned prizes, which were first given out in 1954. This year’s presentation honoured films from 2020 in various categories due to Covid-19-related delays. A 10-member panel for the 68th National Film Awards presented its results to Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur yesterday. The committee was chaired by filmmaker Vipul Shah.
Suriya’s film “Soorarai Pottru” was the big winner, taking home five awards in five different categories. Four national awards in various categories were also won by Telugu films. The movie “Colour Photo” won the Best Telugu Film Award, while the film “Natyam” took home awards for best choreography and best makeup. The Malayalam movie “Ayyappanum Koshiyum” won the Best Director and Best Supporting Actor Male awards. The Bollywood film “Tanhaji” won three awards.
