Despite receiving an Academy Awards nomination, no Indian film has ever actually won the award, commonly known as the Oscars.

However, some Indians have received Oscars. Who are they? Let's find out.

ws_Bhanu_Athaiya_(nee_Rajopadhye)

She was a well-known costume designer and the first Indian to win an Oscar. She received this academy award in 1982 for her work on the historical drama film ‘Gandhi'.

1. Bhanu Athaiya

Satyajit Ray is a legendary director of Indian cinema. He made a lot of movies in Bengali and Hindi.In 1992, he won the Honorary Oscar 'Lifetime Achievement Award.
