Satyajit Ray is a legendary director of Indian cinema. He made a lot of movies in Bengali and Hindi.In 1992, he won the Honorary Oscar 'Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Slum Dog Millionaire song "Jai ho" at the time gained popularity all over the world. The words to this song were written by renowned lyricist Gulzar. Gulzar won an Oscar for Best Original Song Lyrics.
