Morbi cable bridge is one of the most beautiful tourist spots in Gujarat. It was built on the ‘Machhu’ river.

How did the Morbi Bridge collapse?

A few months ago, the dilapidated bridge was handed over to the Orewa Group for maintenance and repair for 15 years. After 6 months of repairs, Overa opened its doors on October 26.

But municipal officials say the Orewa organization allowed visitors without their knowledge.

They said that they were unable to check the safety of the bridge as they had no prior knowledge.

A large number of tourists reached the bridge on October 30 as Sunday was a holiday.

More than 400 people were allowed on the bridge which could carry only 100 people. Some mischievous men started swinging on the bridge. The bridge collapsed in a jolt and fell into the river.

Many people drowned in the river and 47 of them were children.

Some of the children hung on to the railing of the bridge for a long time. But as the help was delayed they drowned in the river.
