The FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 will commence in Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on January 13. Kalinga Stadium and Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium will host all the matches.

India has been eliminated from the 2018 World Cup after a 1-2 loss to the Netherlands in the quarterfinals. India ended the campaign in sixth place.

India last won the World Cup in 1975, and since then, its best result has been fifth place at a World Cup in 1994.

However, the men in blue are optimistic after winning the bronze medal at the Olympics in 2021, and the home ground advantage also makes them confident about dominating this world cup.

India will make its 15th appearance at the World Cup in 2023, making it one of the teams to have participated in every world cup.

In Group D, alongside England, Wales, and Spain, India has been qualified. India will move to the quarterfinals if it wins the group. In case it ends in second or third place, it will play the crossover match to advance to the next level.
