Review:  Is "Veerasimha Reddy"  the Sankranthi Winner?

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much buzzed-about film "Veera Simha Reddy" opened in theaters worldwide today. Let’s see if Balakrishna repeats his ‘Akhanda’ magic or falls short.

Balakrishna appears in a dual role in this film. Veera Simha Reddy (the Father) is a powerful figure in Rayalaseema. Veera Simha Reddy loves his step-sister Bhanumati (Varalakshmi) unconditionally, but Bhanumati wants him dead.

Story

Whereas Jayasimha (Son) grew up abroad with his mother Honey Rose, leads a chill life there, and at some point falls in love with Esha (Shruthi Hassan).

Why did Veera Simha Reddy separate from his wife and son? Why does Veera Simha Reddy’s beloved sister await his death? How did Jayasimha connect with his father? The rest of the plot runs on this narrative,

Balayya gave his all for this film; he breathed life into the two roles with his signature acting, dialogue delivery, one-liners, dance moves, and high-octane action sequences that worked out well.

Performances

Honey Rose impressed with her alluring appearance and acting. Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar did justice  to her role. Duniya Vijay, who played  the role of the villain, impressed with his mesmerizing performance. Shruti Haasan graced the audience with  her glitz.

Although Gopichand Malineni has penned a good story, he falters in executing it. Some action scenes feel overdone. The flick fails to appeal to all sections of the audience.

Direction

The cinematography is good, but Gopichand’s screenplay fails bigtime. Thaman yet again made his mark with his music. Editing could have been improved.

Technical Aspects

Balakrishna’s "Veera Simha Reddy" is  a typical movie that he's been doing for  a long time. But his screen presence, Shruthi and Honey’s glamour, Thaman’s jam-packed music, and adrenaline-rushing action moments will make this film stand out

Overall

Overall, the flick is a treat for Balakrishna fans but a routine, over-the-top action flick for the rest.

Lag in the story Stretched First Half Emotions didn’t work Overdone action sequences

Cons

Balakrishna’s acting Interval Block Thaman Music Shruti Haasan
