FIFA lifts the ban on Indian Football

First Ever U-20 World Champion in Wrestling

Gold Medal at the age of 94

Bhagwani Devi Dagar, a 94-year-old Indian sprinter, won the gold medal in the 100-meter sprint at the Tampere, Finland, World Masters Athletics Championships. She took first place in gold with a time of 24.74 seconds and bronze in shot-put.

Chess Olympiad 2022, Chennai

The 44th Chess Olympiad was held in Chennai from 28 Jul 2022 – 10 Aug 2022, India won the bronze medal  in women and open categories. While Ukraine won the gold medal in the Women's category, Uzbekistan won the gold medal in the open category.

Mithali Raj announced retirement

Indian women’s cricket team captain, Mithali Raj (39 years old) announced her retirement from all forms of International cricket.

She has represented India in 232 ODI’s, 12 Test’s and 89 T20Is and scored  7805, 699 and 2,364 runs in each format respectively.

Cumulatively  she has scored a tally of 10,868 runs across all three formats and became the "leading run-scorer of all time in women’s international cricket."

Indian Men’s hockey teams wins FIH Hockey 5s title

India beat Poland 6-4 in the final to clinch the inaugural FIH Hockey 5s championship in Lausanne in Switzerland.

Asian Wrestling Championships 2022

The 35th Edition of Asian Wrestling Championships 2022 held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Indian wrestlers secured a total of 17 medals, that includes (1-Gold, 5-Silver, and 11-Bronze medals).

The only gold medalist was Ravi Kumar Dahiyais, he won the gold medal in men’s 57kg freestyle category, beating Kazakhstan’s Rakhat Kalzhan on technical superiority.

R Praggnanandhaa made history

R Pragganandhaa, a 16-year-old chess prodigy, has won the prestigious Reykjavik Open chess tournament in Reykjavik, Iceland. The final was played between R Pragganandhaa and another Indian GM, D Gukesh, and Pragganandhaa eventually won.
