Waltair Veerayya  Movie Review

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s much-awaited movie Waltair Veerayya opened in theaters today. Chiru is expecting to make a big statement with this movie as his last two films,

"Acharya" and "GodFather," didn’t fare well at the box office. Let’s see if Waltair Veerayya meets the expectations of the fans.

Waltair Veerayya (Chiranjeevi) is  a powerful personality among the fishermen's community in coastal Andhra Pradesh. However, unbeknownst to Veerayya, som e people do drug trafficking through seaways and were arrested by ACP Vikram (Ravi Teja).

Story

ACP Vikram, who’s a very strict officer, gets involved in a brawl with Veerayya and arrests him, but to their surprise, something unexpected happens.

Veerayya suspects Prakash Raj is the source of these strange occurrences, and he travels to Malaysia with officer Rajendra Prasad to restrain him.

How did Prakash Raj and Chiru’s tiff go? How are Veerayya and ACP Vikram related? How will they end the drug mafia? On these points, the rest of the narrative takes place.

Chiru looks great throughout the film, and his performance makes us recollect some of his vintage performances. As  a police officer, Ravi Teja acted superbly, neck and neck with Chiranjeevi.

Performances

Their face-off sequences are a treat for their fans. Shruthi Hassan and Catherine Tresa acted very well. Bobby Simha, Prakash Raj, Vennela Kishore, Saptagiri, and Rajendra Prasad all justified their roles.

Bobby chose the same old plot in which Chiru acted at least a dozen times. Don’t expect anything novel in the storyline.

Direction

As a fanboy, he made good use of Chiru’s skills and crafted a good movie for his fans. But the film lags in the first half, and the comedy looks out of place in many places.

Bobby’s direction is decent, but the screenplay falls flat. The cinematography is effective, and Devi Sree Prasad's music is a big plus; literally, DSP’s music overpowers Bobby's direction. The editor did a decent job.

On the Technical side

A delight for Ravi Teja and Chiranjeevi fans as well as a popcorn-worthy commercial entertainer for the general public.
