The Indian government has been making efforts for the last 73 years to restore cheetahs into its jungles.

As talks with Iran crashed, the Indian government began negotiations with African countries. 

The governments of Namibia and India ultimately agreed to a deal on July 20, 2023, after 12 years of protracted negotiations. Over the following five years, 50 cheetahs will be sent from Namibia to India.

8 cheetahs, 5 males and 3 females, will be flown from Namibia to Jaipur in a special Boeing 747-400, traversing the 8,000 km distance in more than 20 hours.
