    April 6, 2024

Young hero Vijay Devarakonda came before the audience with the movie ‘Family Star’, directed by Parasuram, featuring Mrunal Thakur as the heroine and produced by Dil Raju. With high expectations, the movie released on Friday received mixed talk. Netizens heavily trolled the comedy and sentiment scenes in the movie. Did this affect the Day 1 overseas collections? Let’s find out in this report.

    Lowest Collections!

The mixed talk clearly impacted the collections of ‘Family Star‘ (Family Star Day 1 Collections). Trade circles announced that the film grossed Rs. 10.60 crores worldwide on its first day. In India, it grossed Rs. 6.6 crores. The collections in the Telugu states were Rs. 5.4 crores, in Tamil Nadu Rs. 30 lakhs, and in the rest of India Rs. 20 lakhs. Thus, ‘Family Star’ has become the movie with the lowest collections in Vijay Devarakonda‘s career. Notably, Vijay’s previous film ‘Kushi‘ grossed Rs. 16 crores worldwide on its opening day.

    Overseas Performance!

Although ‘Family Star’ didn’t perform as expected locally, it is making strides in overseas collections. So far, the movie has collected over 475,000 dollars. The makers themselves announced this through a poster. ‘Family Star’ is on its way to collecting more dollars over the weekend.

    What’s the Break-Even Target?

Coming with huge expectations, the film ‘Family Star’ has done significant pre-release business. Worldwide, the theatrical rights of the movie were sold for Rs. 43 crores. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana combined, it recorded Rs. 34.50 crores. Telangana (Nizam) alone contributed Rs. 13 crores, Rayalaseema (Ceded) Rs. 4.5 crores, and AP Rs. 17 crores as theatrical rights sold by the makers. Together with Karnataka + Rest of India at Rs. 3 crores and Overseas at Rs. 5.5 crores, the total came to Rs.43 crores, as announced by trade circles. Consequently, the break-even target for Family Star reached Rs.44 crores. Considering Day 1 collections, the movie needs to perform well to enter into profits.

What’s the Story of ‘Family Star’?

Govardhan (Vijay Devarakonda) is a middle-class young man who prefers not to move away from his family and works in Hyderabad. He struggles to make ends meet with a meager salary while shouldering family responsibilities. Into his life comes Indu (Mrunal Thakur), and they fall in love. Unexpectedly, a book written by Indu ends up with Govardhan. What’s in that book? How did it affect their love? Who really is Indu? Did Govardhan manage to overcome his family struggles or not? That’s the story.
