Analysis
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is a clear winner for selecting a top class cast. Although the film progresses at a slight pace in the beginning, the introduction of the characters and their background music are impressive. The scenes that elevate the characters also captivate the audience. The intermission sequence is the highlight of the movie, which runs with a dark theme. The curiosity will be increased with the creeping bang in the second half. With Vikram’s (Kamal Haasan) flashback and Fahadh’s emotional scenes in the second half, the movie seems to go slowly. But the action sequences designed by the director will keep you glued to your seat. The biggest strength of the movie is the climax. The last 10 minutes of the movie are just spectacular. Suriya shines in a goosebumping cameo role. Surya’s small cameo makes a big impact on the film.
Performances
All three, Kamal Hassan as Vikram, Fahadh Faasil as Amar and Vijay Sethupathi as Santhanam, acted wonderfully. They did an excellent job in their respective roles. Emotion scenes and action scenes are superbly impressive. Top notch performances by the cast. Surya’s character lasts for a few minutes but looks deadly.
Technical Aspects
The director is a huge plus for this film. His style reflects the Hollywood style of taking. Anirudh’s music is another strength of the film. His music in the elevation scenes will blow you away. He gave three different backgrounds to his three star heroes. Cameraman Girish Gangadharan did a phenomenal job.
