‘Rama Rao On Duty’ Movie Review: Ravi Teja is the lone warrior of this shrinking ship

    July 29, 2022

The Ravi Teja-starrer ‘Rama Rao On Duty’ movie was released in theaters today. This film is directed by Sarath Mandava and bankrolled by Sudhakar Cherukuri. Sam CS composed the music. Divyansha Kaushik and Rajisha Vijayan played the female leads, and Venu Thottempudi appeared in a pivotal role. Audiences have decent expectations of this flick. Let’s get into the review.

    Plot

Rama Rao (Ravi Teja) is a righteous revenue officer who opposes corruption. He runs into Malini (Rajisha Vijayan), his ex-girlfriend, one day. She informs Rama Rao about her husband’s unexpected disappearance and requests him for help. Rama Rao launches an investigation as a result, during which he uncovers some disturbing facts. He also discovers that several other men from the same village, in addition to Malini’s husband, have vanished. Why are people disappearing? Has Rama Rao solved the mystery and saved Malini’s husband? How, if so? Ravi Teja will answer these questions in theaters.

    Analysis

“Rama Rao On Duty” marks Sarath Mandava’s first Telugu outing. Script was also helmed by him. But, was poorly executed despite the story’s excellent writing and spine-tingling gripping aspects. His plot shrinks as he incorporates more commercial themes. A good first half becomes better as the legal probe progresses. In the second half, Sarath Mandava could have done a good job if he had stayed true to the plot, but he wrecked it by over-flavouring pointless elevation and combat scenes. The main flaw in this movie is the lacklustre performance of the antagonist.

    Performances

As he always does, Ravi Teja gave his all. The movie is on his shoulder as he goes. The acting prospects for Rajisha Vijayan and Divyansha Kaushik are limited. Venu Thottempudi’s performance was commendable, but Sarath could have given him a stronger, more commanding part. The performances by Pavitra Lokesh, Naresh, Tanikella Bharani, Rahul Ramakrishna, and Tanikella Bharani are noteworthy.

    Technical Aspects

The production values are on par with the film. The excellent cinematography will give the audience a genuine sense of 1995. Music and songs are the biggest duds. Overall, “Rama Rao On Duty” is a one-time watch for the audience this weekend.
