Rukmini Vasanth was born in Bangalore into a military family. Her father, Vasanth Venugopal, served as a colonel in the army and was killed in action in 2007 during a combat at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.

After his death, the central government honored him with the Ashoka Chakra. Rukmini’s mother, Subhashini, is proficient in Bharatanatyam.

Rukmini studied in an army school. Interested in acting, she went to London and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in Bloomsbury.

She made her acting debut in the 2019 Kannada film ‘Birbal Case 1’ and entered Bollywood the same year with ‘Upstarts.’

Currently, she is working on the Telugu film ‘Appudo Ippudo Eppudo’ alongside Nikhil, which marks her first film in Telugu.
