The series stars Vaibhav Reddy, Charan Peri, Ritika Singh, and Akanksha Singh in leading roles and began streaming on SonyLIV from September 12. Let’s delve into this review to see if 'Bench Life' is another hit in Niharika's account. What’s the Story? Balu (Vaibhav Reddy), Ravi (Charan Peri), and Meenakshi (Ritika Singh) are employees at a prominent software company and also good friends. Balu has been in love with Esha (Akanksha Singh), a colleague, for nine years but has never confessed his feelings. Meanwhile, Meenakshi dreams of becoming a director and circulates her scripts among producers. In the meantime, Ravi plans a trip to Goa with his wife (Nayan Sarika) and two friends, prompting the three friends to go on the bench. What happens after they go on the bench? What role does Prasad Vashisht (Rajendra Prasad) play in the company? What causes discord between Ravi and his wife? Did Ravi confess his love to Esha? What happened to Esha’s dream of becoming a director? To find out, one must watch the series. How Did They Perform? Vaibhav, as Balu, delivers a commendable performance, generating plenty of laughs with his comedic timing. Akanksha Singh, as his love interest, played her part well, captivating as a reserved young woman unable to express her inner feelings. The highlight of the series might be said to be the duo Charan Peri and Nayan Sarika, whose performances along with their scenes together are highly entertaining. Ritika fits perfectly into the role of Meenakshi, a young woman struggling to break free from an unsatisfying job to pursue her dreams of directing. Tulasi justly fulfills her role, while Rajendra Prasad once again charms with his comedic timing and emotional delivery. Tanikella Bharani, though in a brief role, makes a significant impact at a crucial moment in the story. Niharika Konidela, Sangith Shoban, and Venkat make memorable appearances in guest roles. How Was the Direction? Director Manasa Sharma has crafted the series in a way that connects well with the youth, particularly software employees, developing each character with a purposeful arc. The finale provided for the characters of Charan Peri and Nayan Sarika is particularly well-done. However, the endings given to Ritika Singh and Akanksha Singh's characters feel overly cinematic and lack naturalness. Ravi Teja appears very powerful as Mr. Bachchan, dazzling with his unique style of comedy and reminiscent of the Ravi Teja of the past. He marked his presence in both action sequences and emotional scenes, showing versatility adapted to the situations. Bhagyashri Borse charmed with her glamor, especially shining in the songs. Jagapathi Babu fully justified his role as the antagonist. Comedian Satya entertained with his comedy, especially in the first half. Sachin Khedekar, Tanikella Bharani, Gautami, and Praveen also performed well in their respective roles, fitting perfectly within their character limits. How's the Direction? Director Harish Shankar attempted to show through this film the benefits to society when an Income Tax Officer works with integrity. He well-crafted the character of Mr. Bachchan and its related scenes. The love track between Ravi Teja and Bhagyashri Borse was a strong point of the movie. It played a crucial role in engaging the audience in the first half, along with Satya’s comedy. The climax leading up to the raid on Muthyam Jaggaiah's house and the subsequent action-packed scenes turned the narrative engaging. However, the magic of Harish’s direction faded somewhat in the second half. The entire second half revolving solely around the IT raid lessened the intrigue. A more interesting build-up between the hero and the villain's mind games would have been advantageous. A stronger portrayal of the villain’s role could have elevated the film to another level. Technically Technically, Mickey J. Meyer was the first hero for this film, providing catchy tunes suitable for the narrative. Songs like "Reppalu Dappulu," "Jikki," "Sitara," and "Nallanchu Tella Cheera" were a feast for both ears and eyes. Ayananka Bose's cinematographer was captivating. The production values were high. Known for his direct approach, Vishal often finds himself in the midst of controversies. Recently, he has become the center of a new dispute with the Tamil Producers Council. In this context, he posted a defiant message on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Try to stop me." What prompted Vishal to post this? What is the nature of his controversy with the producers' council? Let’s delve into the details. What happened? Vishal previously served as the President of the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC). During his tenure, he faced allegations of misusing Rs. 12 crores. He criticized the control a few individuals have over movie release timings and their overarching control of the cinema industry. Did it achieve success similar to the original Demonte Colony? Let's find out in this review. Plot Samuel Richard (Sarjano Khalid) unexpectedly commits suicide after overcoming a disease like cancer. His wife, Debbie (Priya Bhavani Shankar), struggles to come to terms with his decision and attempts to communicate with his spirit to uncover the reason behind his actions. She discovers from a book in a library that his death was predetermined by that book. Debbie learns that many others who read this book also died similarly. Recently, Srinivas (Arulnithi) and his twin brother Raghunandan (Arulnithi) have also read the book, putting their lives in danger. What is this book? What is the evil power behind it? Performance Arulnithi excels in a dual role, showcasing distinct variations between the two characters in appearance and performance. Priya Bhavani Shankar, in the main female lead, impressed significantly, especially with a change in her hairstyle giving her a fresh look. This role, unlike her previous glamor roles, provided her with a substantial acting opportunity. Arun Pandian, playing the role of Debbie's uncle, did a satisfactory job. Archana Ravichandran, though in a brief appearance, managed to entertain. Muthukumar, Sarjano Khalid, and others performed well, particularly those portraying Buddhist monks who were captivating. Direction R. Ajay Gnanamuthu has crafted part 2 as a continuation of the original 'Demonte Colony' story. The film keeps the audience engaged with twists every half-hour from the start. The director skillfully intertwined two stories by introducing a family not present in the first part. The film not only deals with horror but also includes disputes among brothers and step-sisters, adding a bit of entertainment. Debbie’s efforts to save the twin brothers and the ensuing horror elements are thrilling. The screenplay is quite engaging. The climax along with the scenes linking to a potential third part are surprising. However, weak graphics, some dragging scenes, and the pre-climax could be seen as negatives. Technically On the technical front, the cinematographer did an excellent job by not just sticking to the typical dark mode of regular horror films but presenting it in a colorful manner. The graphics department could have done better. The background music was good, enhancing the suspense in the scenes. Editing was decent. The production values are high. Released on November 22, did Zebra live up to the hype? Did it finally deliver a much-needed hit for Satyadev? Let’s find out in this review. The Plot Surya (Satyadev), a middle-class man, works as a Relationship Manager at the Bank of Trust. He has a crush on his colleague Swathi (Priya Bhavani Shankar). One day, Swathi accidentally transfers ₹4 lakh to a wrong account. When she tries to recover the amount, the recipient claims to have spent it. To help Swathi, Surya steps in, but in the process, he unwittingly gets entangled in a ₹5 crore bank fraud. This chain of events leads him into a confrontation with Aadi  (Dhananjaya), one of the state’s most dangerous individuals. How does Surya face Aadi ? What role does Aadi  play in Surya’s life? How does the ₹5 crore fraud escalate, and does Surya manage to overcome these challenges? That forms the crux of the story. The Performances Satyadev shines once again in his role as Surya, proving his mettle as an actor. He seamlessly portrays a character that combines comedy, action, romance, and emotion. His performance elevates the film, but Dhananjaya also leaves a strong impression. As Aadi , Dhananjaya embodies power and menace, dominating the screen in several sequences. In some scenes, he even overshadows Satyadev. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays a significant role and performs convincingly, while Jennifer adds glamour to the narrative. Satya’s comedy timing is another highlight, though the supporting characters don’t leave a lasting impact as the story primarily focuses on the Surya vs. Aadi  dynamic. Direction Director Eashvar Karthic skillfully handles the banking-related content, delivering a gripping narrative with a strong screenplay. His past experience as a bank employee adds authenticity to the storytelling. The film effectively exposes the fraudulent practices within the banking system, though certain aspects lack conviction. For instance, the protagonist earning ₹5 crores within four days feels implausible, and resolving a ₹100 crore problem with just an email stretches logic. However, for audiences willing to overlook such inconsistencies, Zebra offers an engaging experience. The intense battle between Satyadev and Dhananjaya, along with Satya’s comedy and impactful dialogues, serve as major highlights. Technical Aspects From a technical standpoint, Zebra impresses. Ravi Basrur’s background score is a significant asset, especially elevating the action sequences. However, the songs fail to leave a lasting impression. Performance  In 'Bharateeyudu 2', Kamal Haasan delivers a virtuoso performance, reprising the role of Senapathi with remarkable skill. Siddharth also stands out in a pivotal role. Rakul Preet Singh and S.J. Surya enhance the film with their performances, although their characters are somewhat underdeveloped. The rest of the cast delivers adequate performances. Direction Director Shankar seems to have merely repeated the narrative of Bharateeyudu. He updated an outdated story to fit modern times, focusing the sequel on showcasing how Bharateeyudu would eliminate corruption today. Shankar’s usual flair is missing in the direction. The screenplay is lackluster, and even Kamal Haasan's introduction isn't as engaging. While some scenes are well-executed, others fail to make an impact. However, Kamal Haasan's chase sequences and the fight scenes with terrorists are highlights. The social message adds some strength to the film, but the lack of father-daughter sentiment and uninspiring songs from the first film negatively impact this one. Overall, the sequel fails to mesmerize the audience as Senapathi did before. Technical Aspects On the technical front, the music by Anirudh Ravichander isn't memorable, though the background score is good. However, in some scenes, the BGM dominates too much. Was Vikramarka able to save them? What challenges did he face in this process? This is the story. Performances Dev Gill has shown his mark in action scenes. With experience playing villains in various films, he seemed to handle action effortlessly. However, he struggled significantly in love scenes and emotional sequences, failing to express emotions convincingly. Chitra Shukla delivered a solid performance as the heroine, fitting well into her role. Praveen and Tejaswini Pandit, as the villain and ACP Bhavani respectively, were compelling. Posani Krishna Murali and Sayaji Shinde impressed with their seasoned acting. The rest of the cast was satisfactory. Direction Directed by Peta Trikoti, the film reminds one of Telugu hits like 'Temper' and 'Pataas.' However, the plot lacks novelty, and the narration isn't engaging. The director failed to extract compelling performances corresponding to the story's demands. The love track between the hero and heroine feels quite tedious, and Dev Gill's romantic looks recall his villain roles. Nonetheless, Trikoti made an effort to showcase his style in the fight scenes, which are somewhat interesting when the hero confronts the villains. Technically... The art department performed well. Ravi Basrur's music was underwhelming, though the background score was passable in places. The production values were high, with no compromise on the budget.
