David Warner's Bollywood Dream: From Cricket Star to Telugu Movie Sensation?
Australian star cricketer David Warner, apart from being known for his cricket, has gained recognition as an actor on social media too. He has surprised everyone in the past by making reels of various dialogues and songs related to Telugu movies. Videos of him imitating heroes like Allu Arjun, Prabhas, and Mahesh Babu had become trending on social media previously. Recently retired from international cricket, Warner is said to be stepping into films, starting with a Telugu movie, as per the buzz online. 'Pushpa 2' in a Key Role! In the pan-India film 'Pushpa 2', directed by Sukumar with Allu Arjun as the hero, news is swirling on social media that former Australian cricketer David Warner is playing a special role. A still involving Warner, surrounded by professional bouncers, is circulating online. In this photo, Warner, dressed in a white outfit, is seen stylishly holding a gun. Netizens speculate that this look is from 'Pushpa 2'. However, there's no confirmation from the makers of 'Pushpa 2' yet, but Warner's fans are hoping this news is true. https://twitter.com/AuTelugu_Films/status/1837406285702074497 Sukumar's Plan? David Warner has a special connection with 'Pushpa' (Pushpa: The Rise), starring Icon Star Allu Arjun. The song 'Srivalli' from this movie was a huge hit across India, and Warner had also made reels to it which went viral back then. Moreover, Warner had repeatedly mimicked Allu Arjun's signature style on the field, endearing him to the Telugu audience. Given this background, there's information that director Sukumar intends to leverage Warner's popularity in 'Pushpa 2'. If this is true, it’s a guaranteed chance to see Warner in 'Pushpa 2'. https://twitter.com/i/status/1484806143595532289 https://twitter.com/AAAdmirersKL/status/1516976589069701121 Close to IPL Telugu cricket fans respect Warner as much as they do Team India players. Warner served as the captain for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and even led the team to an IPL trophy win. This support from Telugu fans is substantial. Warner reciprocated by dancing to Telugu songs and quoting movie dialogues in his reels, thus becoming closer to the Telugu folks. He has often expressed his love for Hyderabad and its people, mentioning how much he misses Hyderabad. Many are hoping that Sunrisers Hyderabad will pick Warner again in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Ad Shoot with Rajamouli For a popular payments app CRED, Rajamouli and David Warner once acted together in a humorous ad. In the opening of the ad, Rajamouli asks Warner what needs to be done to get discounts on match tickets. Warner replies, "Raja sir.. if you have the CRED UPI app, you get cashback." Rajamouli responds, asking if it wouldn’t work with a normal UPI app, prompting Warner to ask for a favor to act in his movie, wondering what it would be like if Warner truly starred as a hero in his film. Imagining Warner in a Baahubali-like getup causing mischief and performing dance steps and dialogues, Rajamouli is momentarily frightened. This ad had gone extremely viral at the time. Devara Promotions: Are Devara Promotions Not Heading in the Right Direction? Is Tollywood Being Neglected?
Devara Promotions: Are Devara Promotions Not Heading in the Right Direction? Is Tollywood Being Neglected?
The movie "Devara," directed by star director Koratala Siva and starring the 'Man of Masses' Tarak, has created a Pan-India buzz. Following a global hit like 'RRR,' Tarak's new film has been eagerly awaited by both his fans and cinema lovers. With the film set to release on September 27, the Devara team is busy with promotions. However, the focus on the North Indian market has led to dissatisfaction among the Telugu audience. So far, none of the promotional events for Devara have originated from the Telugu states, raising concerns that the Devara team is neglecting Tollywood. Trolls on Chennai Promotions As part of its promotions, the Devara team landed in Chennai on Tuesday (September 17). The event featured Tarak, along with actress Janhvi Kapoor, director Koratala Siva, music director Anirudh, and Tamil actor Kalaiyarasan. During this, Tarak expressed his desire to work with Tamil director Vetrimaaran, which although captivated the Tamil audience, left Telugu cinema lovers feeling slighted. Trolls are questioning why a star like Tarak would request a Tamil director to make a movie with him, suggesting he is diminishing his own stature. Devara Team on The Kapil Sharma Show! The Devara team has also been conducting back-to-back promotions in Mumbai, attempting to hype up the movie. As part of this, Tarak appeared on the very popular 'The Kapil Sharma Show Season 2.' Being a major Bollywood star, it’s almost obligatory to appear on this show, which has a fan base that transcends regional boundaries. Bollywood stars believe that appearing on this show greatly boosts their movie promotions. During the 'RRR' promotions, Rajamouli, Tarak, and Ram Charan had made an appearance on this show. Recently, Tarak revisited the show for Devara, along with Janhvi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Saif Ali Khan. The promo, which also features Team India captain Rohit Sharma & Co, has been captivating. This episode is scheduled to stream on Netflix at 8 PM on September 21. https://twitter.com/NetflixIndia/status/1834826983017976063 Tarak in Hindi Bigg Boss 18? The Hindi Bigg Boss show enjoys significant popularity. With Salman Khan hosting the upcoming Hindi Bigg Boss Season 18, there is strong buzz that the Devara team will promote their movie on the show. Official confirmation from the Devara team is pending, but it is evident from the current strategy that Tarak & Co. are not missing any opportunity for promotions in the North. Bigg Boss 18 is set to stream starting October 4, by which time Devara will have already been released. It remains to be seen if the Devara team will participate in Hindi Bigg Boss. Interview with Animal Director Recently, the Devara team was interviewed by Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The chat session, which included Tarak, director Koratala Siva, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor, was notably entertaining. Sandeep posed some intriguing questions to the Devara team, to which Janhvi and Tarak responded in their unique styles. Tarak mentioned that Devara is an action drama that will thrill the masses. Koratala Siva spoke about his long-standing friendship with Tarak, and the team mentioned that they had spent 35 days filming an underwater sequence. Janhvi claimed Devara would be the best movie in everyone’s careers. Sandeep playfully commented on the movie's runtime, and when asked how long it was, he said with a laugh that it was 3 hours and 24 minutes. Despite Sandeep Reddy Vanga being a Telugu director, the entire interview was conducted in English, which has left Telugu viewers unable to connect. Click the link below for the full interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzNPma48bVM Where Are the Tollywood Promotions? Lately, the Devara team has been focused predominantly on Bollywood, believing that effective promotions there could translate into significant box office returns. Even the movie’s key trailer was released in Mumbai. There have been comments suggesting it would be beneficial to similarly promote the movie in Telugu, given Tarak’s star image and expected box office pull in Telugu-speaking regions. Compared to the promotions conducted in the North, there seems to be little planning for significant promotional activities in Telugu. Fans are surprised that young heroes Siddhu and Vishwak are interviewing NTR and Koratala, raising questions about the level of NTR’s engagement. There are criticisms that leveraging his close relationships with big names like Mahesh, Prabhas, and Rajamouli for interviews would have been more beneficial for Telugu promotions. The interview Rajamouli conducted with the 'Salaar' team is often cited as an example. So far, the focus on Bollywood in promotions has been strongly criticized for overshadowing efforts in Tollywood. How the Devara team will address this remains to be seen.

Venkat Prabhu Faces Backlash Over Telugu Audience Criticism After 'The Goat' Underperforms
Venkat Prabhu Faces Backlash Over Telugu Audience Criticism After 'The Goat' Underperforms
The latest film starring Kollywood star hero Vijay, titled 'The Goat' (The Greatest Of All Time), released on September 5 and has been a massive hit in Tamil Nadu, even crossing the Rs. 300 crore mark with impressive overseas collections. However, the film seems to be facing strong resistance in the Telugu and Hindi markets. In this context, the film's director Venkat Prabhu responded, sparking a heated debate on social media. 'That's Why They Didn't Like It' In Telugu and Hindi, 'The Goat' (The Greatest Of All Time) did not meet the expected levels of success. Mythri Movie Makers, a prominent production company, purchased the film for Rs. 22 crores in Telugu, but so far, it has only grossed Rs. 10 crores. Current circumstances suggest that even breaking even may be difficult. Against this backdrop, director Venkat Prabhu took to social media to express his views. He suggested that scenes related to Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni, which were highlights, did not resonate well with Telugu and Hindi audiences, which might be why the film underperformed in these regions. He also accused fans of the IPL teams from Mumbai and Bangalore of excessively trolling his film, attributing this to his known fandom of Chennai Super Kings. Venkat Prabhu's comments have become a hot topic on social media. https://twitter.com/TheAakashavaani/status/1833133203697131918 Telugu Audience Fires Back..! Telugu audiences are strongly criticizing Venkat Prabhu's recent comments. They are posting online that there are other reasons for 'The Goat's disaster performance in Telugu. Comments suggest that if the content is good, they support films irrespective of the industry. They remind the director of the massive success his previous film 'Maanaadu' had in Telugu, indicating that MS Dhoni also has a huge fanbase in the Telugu states, with stadiums filling up in yellow jerseys whenever a CSK match is played in Hyderabad. They are requesting that the actual reasons for 'The Goat's failure be investigated. Reasons for the Flop in Telugu Are These! Director Venkat Prabhu made 'The Goat' with a routine story where Vijay played dual roles as father and son. Despite the terrorism backdrop, it lacked the twists typically seen in agent films. There were no twists or turns in the story, and even the operations conducted by the hero lacked thrill. Additionally, unnecessary songs and Yogi Babu's comedy track tested the patience of the Telugu audience. However, the action sequences and the IPL track in the climax managed to generate some excitement. Dhoni Said No! 'The Goat' featured many cameo roles. Sivakarthikeyan and Trisha appeared as guests, and India's former cricket captain MS Dhoni was also shown during the climax using IPL visuals. Director Venkat Prabhu originally intended to have a scene with Dhoni in the film, but since Dhoni did not agree, they had to resort to using IPL visuals. The 20-minute climax episode captivated cricket lovers immensely. Furious Over Negative Reviews Director Venkat Prabhu responded to the negative reviews of 'The Goat.' "People don't talk about the effort we put into making the film. Some intentionally post negative comments. We included references in the film not found in any other movie, all to celebrate every hero fan. The film wasn't made just for the guest appearances but was crafted to include everything audiences desire. We made this film for the audience, not the reviewers," he stated.
