Sopathulu OTT Review: A Heartfelt Tale of Childhood Friendship Amidst the Pandemic
Cast: Bhanu Prakash, Srujan, Mani Egurla, Mohan Bhagath, Ravinder Bommakanti, Anjayya Milkuri, Padma, and others.
Written and Directed by: Ananth Vardhan
Music by: Sanjeet Erramilli
Cinematography by: Muthyala Sunil
Editor: Venkat Reddy
Producer: Vinod Anantoju
OTT Platform: ETV Win
ETV Win, a leading OTT platform, has been bringing a series of interesting films and web series recently. As part of this lineup, they introduced 'Sopathulu' to the streaming world. This film, set against the backdrop of student friendships, has made its way to OTT. How is this film centered around two children? What is the bond between these friends? Let's find out in this review.
What is the Story About?
Chintu (Master Bhanu Prakash) and Guddu (Srujan) are best friends who are inseparable. An unexpected event, COVID-19, forces them to part ways. Due to the lockdown and lack of work, Guddu's family moves back to their hometown from Mahabubabad. Guddu's departure leaves Chintu feeling lonely and isolated. Despite their young age, Chintu makes extraordinary efforts to meet his friend, and on the other side, Guddu also struggles to reunite with his buddy. Will they meet again? Did Chintu's brother's dream of becoming a photographer come true? To know more, one must watch the film.
Performance Analysis
Although there are few characters, each actor delivers a satisfying performance. Master Bhanu Prakash, as Chintu, captivates with his timing and brings laughter. Srujan, as Guddu, also impresses in his performance. Their acting feels very natural and the entire story revolves around them. Mohan Bhagath, known from 'C/o Kancharapalem', plays a significant role and makes his presence felt adequate. Mani Egurla, Anusha Ramesh, Anjimama, and others perform well in their respective roles as per the story's requirements.
Direction
Director Ananth Vardhan has beautifully portrayed the friendship of two young boys against the backdrop of COVID-19 and lockdown. He visually illustrates the struggles middle-class families faced during the pandemic. Starting the story slowly with the background of Chintu and Guddu's families, the director gradually builds interest. The struggles faced by Guddu due to the lack of a smartphone for online classes are touching. The portrayal of Chintu's brother as a modern-day youth is relatable and engaging. The climax is also satisfying. However, the film lacks commercial elements, predictable plot progression, and sometimes takes too long to introduce characters, which can be seen as drawbacks.
Technical Aspects
Technically, the cinematography is good, and the background music is also appealing. The editor has efficiently fulfilled his responsibilities. The production values are apt for the scale of the film.
Plus Points
- Child actors' performances
- Emotional depth
- Music
Minus Points
- Lack of commercial elements
- Predictable storyline

Prabhas Joins 'Viswam' to Support Friend Gopichand with a Special Contribution
Prabhas is currently a sensation in the Indian film industry. Following the blockbuster success of 'Kalki 2898 AD,' where he starred as the beloved hero, his name is echoing across the country. He is receiving widespread adulation from Indian film lovers, captivating audiences from north to south with his fame. Amidst this acclaim, exciting news about Prabhas is generating buzz. Rumors suggest that Prabhas has made a significant decision for his friend Gopichand. Let's explore the details.
Elevations with Prabhas!
In the film 'Viswam', directed by star director Srinu Vaitla and starring macho star Gopichand, it has been rumored that Prabhas will appear in a guest role. According to the latest buzz, it’s confirmed that Prabhas will indeed participate in this film. Discussions suggest that Prabhas will contribute to the movie by providing a voice-over. It is said that Prabhas will lend his voice to elevate Gopichand's introduction scene. This would mark the first time Prabhas has provided a voice-over in a film, a gesture he has agreed to specifically for his friend Gopichand. This news has both Prabhas and Gopichand’s fans very excited.
Will This Plan Succeed?
Hero Gopichand is in dire need of a hit as his last four films—Bhimaa, Ramabanam, Pakka Commercial, and Aaradugula Bullet—have performed poorly at the box office. Similarly, director Srinu Vaitla has been unable to deliver a blockbuster like 'Dookudu', which came out in 2011. Thus, he has high hopes for 'Viswam'. With Prabhas currently in top form, the film unit is planning to bring him on board to generate hype for 'Viswam'. They have approached Prabhas to provide a voice elevation for the hero, believing it could contribute significantly to the film's success. Whether this plan will work remains to be seen.
Off-screen Friends
Prabhas and Gopichand are well-known to be good friends in the industry. They first worked together in the movie 'Varsham', where Prabhas was the hero and Gopichand played the villain. Their friendship has continued unabated since then. Both appeared together on the show 'Unstoppable' hosted by Balayya, where they had a great time. After this episode, fans were overjoyed to see them together, reinforcing their status as best friends.

When they stray too far from reality, they often become fodder for trolls. There are many examples of this phenomenon in Tollywood, with numerous memes and trolls emerging post-release. Let's explore some of these instances in this special report.

'Vinaya Vidheya Rama', starring Ram Charan and directed by Boyapati, experienced its share of trolling. A particular scene that shows Charan standing on a train en route to Bihar received extensive criticism. Additionally, an emotional moment during the song "Thandaane Thandaane" also drew mockery. In this scene, during a serious family meal, the hero's brother, Prashanth, is suddenly embraced tightly and cried over by his wife, Sneha, instead of being handed water, leading netizens to question the logic of the situation.

Aravinda Sametha
In 'Aravinda Sametha', directed by Trivikram and starring Jr. NTR with Pooja Hegde as the heroine, Hegde faced extensive trolling on social media post-release. In this scene, during an engagement ceremony, the heroine's mother, Roja, slaps a relative of the hero, sparking a major altercation involving Roja, the hero's father Rajendra Prasad, Gopichand, and Taapsee. This confrontation escalates to the point where the couple decides to file for divorce. Attarintiki Daredi
In 'Attarintiki Daredi', a collaboration between Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram, the climax was designed to evoke strong emotions. In this scene, Pawan Kalyan attempts to express the deep love his family holds for his aunt, who left home when she was young. However, his tearful delivery did not resonate with many viewers. Several audience members found the emotional display humorous rather than touching, and a photo of Pawan Kalyan crying became a viral sensation on social media.

Srimanthudu

This poignant moment not only resonated with audiences but also became popular as a meme on social media, where it remains widely recognized.

In the film's climax, Bunny delivers an emotional declaration of his love for the heroine while locked up in a police station. Moved by their love, a police officer decides to release her. However, Bunny's performance in this scene was widely ridiculed by his critics, who found the overly sentimental moment laughable and expressed online that they found it difficult to watch.

Telangana Bathukamma Songs: Famous Bathukamma Song Lyrics
Bathukamma festival is an integral part of the rural culture of Telangana. It's a celebration enthusiastically observed by every woman. Bathukamma songs hold a special place in these festivities. Our mothers and grandmothers sing these songs beautifully while playing the Bathukamma game. However, the younger generation does not have a strong grasp of these songs. They participate with the elders, but they cannot catch the tune or pronounce the words correctly. Many are curious to learn these songs, but it might not be feasible. Here are some popular Bathukamma songs from the villages of Telangana for you.
