Released on October 11, did 'Viswam' bring them the success they were hoping for? Let's find out in this complete review. Plot In Hyderabad, a federal minister (Suman) is murdered. Assassins chase a child who witnessed the murder, intending to kill her. However, Gopireddy (Gopichand), who is acquainted with the child’s family, saves her multiple times from danger. There is a reason behind Gopireddy's acquaintance with the family. What is that reason? Why did Gopireddy distance himself from Samaira (Kavya Thapar) whom he met in Italy? Who really is Gopireddy? Why is he trying to save the child? What is Gopireddy's background? To find out, one must go to the theaters. Performance Actor Gopichand captivates with his settled acting and impresses in action sequences, proving his comedy timing once again with 'Viswam'. However, his role does not offer much variety compared to his previous films; it feels quite routine. Heroine Kavya Thapar doesn’t have much scope in acting but scores well on the glamour front. Naresh, Vennela Kishore, Sunil, and Rahul Ramakrishna bring laughter in the film, especially in the train episode. Other characters have performed well within their roles. Direction Having directed blockbusters like 'Anandam', 'Sontham', 'Venky', 'Dhee', 'Ready', and 'Dookudu', Srinu Vaitla had lost his track recently. Recognizing his strengths and weaknesses, he brought 'Viswam', a mix of action and comedy, back to the audience. However, choosing an outdated story for this film could be seen as a drawback. Punches and the comedy track are the strengths of the film, particularly the sequences involving Vennela Kishore and Prithvi that are sure to leave the audience in splits. The Italy track and the villain’s character feel weak. The hero-heroine love track also feels repetitive. However, the interval scene and the climax manage to engage. Technically On the technical front, Chetan Bharadwaj’s music is decent with two or three good songs, and the background score elevates the scenes well. K.V. Guhan’s cinematography is also commendable. Editing by Amar Reddy could have been sharper. The production values are high, giving each scene a rich look.       Renowned choreographer Jani Master has been embroiled in a sexual harassment case that has caused a sensation across the Telugu states. A female choreographer accused him of sexually harassing her over some time, making it a topic of intense discussion in Tollywood. In response to her complaint, police have already registered a case against Jani Master under IPC sections 376, 506, and 323(2). Amidst this backdrop, a team of Cyberabad SOT police intensified their search and eventually detained him in Goa. He was presented in court there and is being brought back to the city. I joined his team as an assistant choreographer in 2019. During a film shoot in Mumbai, I traveled there along with Jani Master and two other assistants. At the hotel there, Jani Master raped me. He threatened to fire me and said I would never work in the film industry again if I told anyone. He took advantage of the opportunity to take us from Hyderabad to other cities for film shootings and raped me multiple times. Even during the shootings, he behaved indecently inside the vanity van," the victim stated in her complaint. Following her complaint, police arrested him on Thursday (September 19). The Cyberabad SOT team apprehended him at a lodge in Goa. Priya Bhavani Shankar, in the main female lead, impressed significantly, especially with a change in her hairstyle giving her a fresh look. This role, unlike her previous glamor roles, provided her with a substantial acting opportunity. Arun Pandian, playing the role of Debbie's uncle, did a satisfactory job. Archana Ravichandran, though in a brief appearance, managed to entertain. Muthukumar, Sarjano Khalid, and others performed well, particularly those portraying Buddhist monks who were captivating. Direction R. Ajay Gnanamuthu has crafted part 2 as a continuation of the original 'Demonte Colony' story. The film keeps the audience engaged with twists every half-hour from the start. The director skillfully intertwined two stories by introducing a family not present in the first part. The film not only deals with horror but also includes disputes among brothers and step-sisters, adding a bit of entertainment. Debbie’s efforts to save the twin brothers and the ensuing horror elements are thrilling. The screenplay is quite engaging. The climax along with the scenes linking to a potential third part are surprising. However, weak graphics, some dragging scenes, and the pre-climax could be seen as negatives. Technically On the technical front, the cinematographer did an excellent job by not just sticking to the typical dark mode of regular horror films but presenting it in a colorful manner. The graphics department could have done better. The background music was good, enhancing the suspense in the scenes. Editing was decent. The production values are high.       Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), one of the foundational pillars of Tollywood, needs no special introduction. Recognized as a Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient, Padma Vibhushan, and Natasamrat, he left an indelible mark on the industry. Born on September 20, 1924, as his centenary completes today, fans globally are celebrating his 100th birth anniversary.
