Vishwak Sen's 'Mechanic Rocky' Gears Up with New Song 'Oo Pillo,' Setting the Stage for Diwali Release
Young hero Vishwak Sen continues to captivate audiences with his diverse film choices, each showcasing unique characters and stories, leading to a series of successes. Recently, he secured a solid hit with 'Gangs Of Godavari', heightening curiosity about what concept he would choose next. Currently, Vishwak is working on a film titled 'Mechanic Rocky'. A new single from this movie has just been released and is garnering attention.
Release of 'Oo Pillo' Song
Directed by Raviteja Mullapudi, Vishwak Sen stars in 'Mechanic Rocky', produced by Ram Talluri. The film features Meenakshi Chaudhary and Shraddha Srinath as the female leads and is set to release on October 31st as a Diwali treat. Jakes Bejoy, who recently delivered a blockbuster album for 'Just Missed Saturday', is composing the music for this film. The latest song released from this movie is 'Oo Pillo', penned by Krishna Chaitanya and sung by Nakash Aziz. Check out this youthful song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HkSttt1iJg&t=3s
How is the song?
The song 'Oo Pillo' introduces the romance between Rakhi (Vishwak Sen) and Priya (Meenakshi Chaudhary), with Vishwak expressing his feelings for her. Sung by Nakash Aziz, the song is youthful and charming. The chemistry between Vishwak and Meenakshi is well-portrayed, and the visuals are quite engaging. Manoj Katasani’s cinematography is also commendable. Vishwak, as always, captivates with his classic dance moves in this song. Shraddha Srinath also plays a significant role in the movie.
Vishwak as 'Laila'
Alongside 'Mechanic Rocky', Vishwak Sen is working on another project titled 'Laila', directed by Ram Narayan. In this film, Vishwak will appear as a woman for the first time, sparking considerable interest since its announcement. Having played mass characters until now, Vishwak’s new role as a woman is eagerly anticipated by his fans. The film is scheduled for release on Valentine's Day, February 14th, next year.

Tollywood Box Office Report: Vishwak Sen’s ‘Mechanic Rocky’ Stumbles, Satyadev’s ‘Zebra’ Struggles, and Ashok Galla’s ‘Devaki Nandana Vasudeva’ Disappoints
This week, Tollywood saw the release of three key films at the box office. Vishwak Sen’s Mechanic Rocky, Satyadev’s Zebra, and Ashok Galla’s Devaki Nandana Vasudeva hit the screens on Friday, November 22. While Vishwak and Satyadev’s films managed to garner average talk, Ashok Galla’s film received outright disastrous feedback. Let’s examine how these films performed on their first day, their collections, and whether they faced significant setbacks or achieved reasonable numbers.
Mechanic Rocky’s Collections
Vishwak Sen’s Mechanic Rocky, featuring Meenakshi Chaudhary and Shraddha Srinath as the female leads, was directed by Raviteja Mullapudi and released on Friday, November 22. Earlier this year, Vishwak impressed audiences with Gaami and Gangs of Godavari, both earning good reception. Hoping for a hat-trick with Mechanic Rocky, Vishwak faced disappointment as the film only managed average talk. This directly impacted its opening-day collections. The movie earned just ₹2.3 crores gross worldwide on its first day, significantly lower than Vishwak’s previous films. Gangs of Godavari and Gaami grossed ₹8 crores and ₹8.6 crores respectively on their opening days, while Das Ka Dhamki earned ₹8.88 crores. Compared to these, Mechanic Rocky’s first-day collections plummeted by a staggering 75%.
Zebra’s Collections
Satyadev and Daali Dhananjaya starred in Zebra, directed by Eashvar Karthik, known for Penguin. The film, featuring Priya Bhavani Shankar and Amrutha Aiyengar as the female leads, was a white-collar crime drama. Despite promotions by Megastar Chiranjeevi, Zebra failed to live up to expectations and garnered average talk. This reflected in the collections as well. According to trade analysts, the film grossed ₹65.8 lakhs worldwide on its first day, with ₹55.5 lakhs coming from the Telugu states. While there is hope for better collections over the weekend, the lackluster start poses a challenge for the film.
Devaki Nandana Vasudeva’s Collections
Ashok Galla, the son of businessman Galla Jayadev and nephew of Mahesh Babu, starred in Devaki Nandana Vasudeva. With a story by Hanu-Man fame Prasanth Varma and directed by Arjun Jandhyala, the film attempted to mix spirituality, commercial elements, and thrill. However, its release on November 22 brought shockwaves with disastrous talk and poor reception. Unsurprisingly, the collections were abysmal, grossing just ₹15.5 lakhs worldwide on its opening day, as per trade reports. Given the negative buzz surrounding the film, collections are expected to dip further in the coming days.
These first-day numbers paint a grim picture for the Tollywood releases of the week, with Vishwak Sen’s market taking a hit and Satyadev and Ashok Galla struggling even more to leave a mark.

Mechanic Rocky Review: Can Vishwak Sen Deliver a Hat-Trick with This Love-Triangle Thriller?
Cast: Vishwak Sen, Meenakshi Choudhary, Shraddha Srinath, Sunil, Naresh, Hyper Aadi, Harsha Vardhan, and othersWriter & Director: Raviteja MullapudiMusic: Jakes BejoyCinematography: Manoj Reddy KatasaniEditing: Anwar AliProducer: Ram TalluriRelease Date: November 22, 2024
Young hero Vishwak Sen has already impressed Telugu audiences this year with Gaami and Gangs of Godavari. Now, he returns with Mechanic Rocky, aiming to charm audiences once again. The film, co-starring Meenakshi Choudhary and Shraddha Srinath, was released grandly on November 22 under the direction of Raviteja Mullapudi. Let’s see how the film turned out and whether Vishwak scored a hat-trick.
The Plot
Rocky (Vishwak Sen) drops out of his B.Tech and joins his father Ramakrishna's (Naresh) garage as a mechanic. Alongside repairing vehicles, he also teaches driving. Maya (Shraddha Srinath) and Priya (Meenakshi Choudhary) join him to learn driving. During his college days, Rocky falls for Priya, but they part ways after he quits his studies. Years later, Rocky meets Priya again. Does he get closer to her? What shocking truths does Rocky discover about Priya? How does Maya influence their lives? Who is Ranki Reddy (Sunil), and what problems does he bring into Rocky’s life? The answers lie in the film.
The Performances
Vishwak Sen delivers yet another settled performance, impressing audiences with his energetic portrayal. His punchlines bring humor and charm to his character. Meenakshi Choudhary and Shraddha Srinath shine in their significant roles, with their chemistry and expressions stealing the spotlight. Their on-screen competition in certain scenes enhances the narrative. Vishwak and Meenakshi's chemistry works well, and their romantic track is engaging. Supporting actors like Sunil, Naresh, and Harsha Vardhan also have impactful roles, with Harsha Chemudu’s comedy bringing occasional laughs.
Direction
Director Raviteja Mullapudi combines a love triangle with a crime thriller, aiming to connect with today’s audience. While the story has strong elements, excessive commercial touches and unnecessary comedy dilute the impact. The first half focuses on character introductions, love tracks, and songs, making it feel somewhat routine and stretched. However, the second half gains momentum, with unexpected twists and turns that elevate the film. The narrative effectively portrays how middle-class dreams can be exploited by others. Had the first half been more engaging, the film could have become a blockbuster.
Technical Aspects
From a technical standpoint, the film excels. Jakes Bejoy’s background score significantly enhances the storytelling. The cinematography is top-notch, capturing the essence of the film’s mood. However, the editing in the first half could have been sharper. The production values are impressive and align well with the film’s tone.
Strengths
Vishwak Sen’s performanceThe second halfTwists and turns
Weaknesses
A lackluster first halfOverdone commercial elements

A Makeover like 'Remo'!

In 'Remo,' Sivakarthikeyan appears in a beautiful girl get-up throughout the film to impress the heroine. Similarly, it is said that Vishwak Sen will also appear in a lady get-up for a significant duration in 'Laila.' Judging by his makeover in the Laila poster, it doesn't seem to be just for one scene. 'Slaves' Comment Backfires: Tamil Actress Kasthuri Shankar Schooled on Chennai's Telugu Origins and Tamil Nadu's Hidden Telugu Heritage
Tamil actress Kasthuri Shankar, known for her roles in several blockbuster films like 'Bharatheeyudu', has recently made inappropriate comments targeting the Telugu-speaking people, equating them to slaves. Her comments, which purportedly elaborate on historical contexts, have sparked controversy in both Telugu states and have become a topic of discussion even in Tamil Nadu, where she is currently a member of the BJP. However, if Kasthuri were aware of history, she might have refrained from such remarks. Knowing the significant contributions of Telugu rulers, leaders, and individuals in Tamil lands would have offered a better perspective.
What Exactly Happened?
Tamil actress Kasthuri's recent comments have caused severe uproar in the Telugu states. During an event organized in Gurumoorthy Nagar in Chennai, she joined the BJP and targeted the DMK and the Karunanidhi family. She remarked that Telugu people, who initially came to serve in the royal courts 300 years ago, are now claiming Tamil identity, questioning who are others to deny Tamil identity to the Brahmins who came here long ago. She suggested that Dravidian ideologists oppose Brahmins merely because they advise against coveting others' wives, and thus, they oppose Sanathana Dharmam. She also claimed that speaking Telugu alone is enough to become ministers in Tamil Nadu, noting that five Telugu ministers are currently in the DMK government.
Impact on Tamil History
One of the prominent dynasties that ruled Tamil Nadu was the Cholas, among whom Kulottunga Chola-I was of Telugu descent. His father was Rajaraja Narendra, a ruler from the Vengi Chalukya dynasty who governed the region between Krishna and Godavari in present-day Andhra Pradesh. Kulottunga Chola’s mother, Ammangaidevi, was a princess in the Chola realm. After her father's death, instability plagued the Chola kingdom, leading Kulottunga to safeguard his grandfather's empire and continue ruling there. His descendants also successfully ruled Tamil Nadu. From 1061-1118, Kulottunga ruled as a Chalukya emperor, but his son Vikrama Chola became a Chola emperor, illustrating that the blood of Telugu Chalukyas was present in him. Historians often state that a Telugu person ruled the great Tamil kingdom of the Cholas, clearly marking the impact of Telugu culture on Tamil history.

The Telugu Name Behind ‘Chennai’
The name of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, comes from a Telugu person. In 1639, Damerla Chennappa Nayakudu, a prince under Venkatapati Nayak, a lord from the Andhra Padmanayaka dynasty, governed the area. The British, under the East India Company, settled there and later renamed the area as Madras. Over time, the area became known as Madras, but locals preferred to call it Chennai Pattinam or Chennapuri. Following local preference, after independence, the name was officially changed to Chennai in August 1996.

Telugu Influence on Madras
Previously, the combined state of Madras, now Tamil Nadu, was united with Andhra Pradesh. Due to Potti Sreeramulu’s hunger strike, Andhra Pradesh was formed as a separate state on October 1, 1953. Telugu people played vital roles in all sectors in the erstwhile Madras state, contributing to its development. From 1925-29, Srikalahasti zamindar Panaganti Ramarayanam served as the president of the Justice Party and Chief Minister of Madras, during which the current Thyagaraya Nagar was established. Between 1932-36, Bobbili Raja, Sri Ramakrishna Ranga Rao, served as the Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency. Rao Bahadur Kurma Venkata Reddy Naidu worked as the Governor of Madras. Even before the split, Prakasam Pantulu, a Telugu person, served as the Chief Minister of the united Madras state. The first three graduates in law from Madras University were Telugu. Thus, Telugu individuals significantly impacted politics, education, medicine, law, and commerce.

Hundreds of Telugu Manuscripts
Vijayanagara Emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya, known to all Telugu people, wrote 'Amuktamalyada' under the witness of his court's Ashtadiggajas, which is still preserved in the Tanjavur library in Tamil Nadu. Along with it, 778 palm manuscripts covering mathematics, science, and mythology are stored there, demonstrating the extent of Telugu cultural influence in Tamil Nadu. This cultural patronage by ancient kings highlights Tamil Nadu as a symbol of cultural integration, which everyone should recognize.

Telugu cinema's young heroes are being particularly careful with their choice of scripts, showing interest only if the story offers something new. Otherwise, they unhesitatingly reject routine stories, setting an example that even veterans like Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Ravi Teja, Ram Pothineni, Nithiin, and Gopichand could take note of. Young actor Suhas is soon to appear in a unique story titled 'Gorre Puranam'. This backdrop has reignited discussions about the innovative subjects young heroes are choosing. Who are these young heroes bringing new stories to life? What movies have they done? Let's delve into this special report.
Suhas
Starting with minor roles in the industry, Suhas became famous almost overnight with the movie 'Colour Photo'. Building on the fame from his short films, he seized opportunities in cinema. He earned good recognition from the audience by acting in diverse films like 'Writer Padmabhushan', 'Ambajipeta Marriage Band', 'Sriranga Neethulu', and 'Prasanna Vadanam'. Moreover, he made an impact as a villain in the movie 'HIT 2'. Recently, he's gearing up to present another novel subject with 'Gorrepuranam', releasing this Friday (September 20).
Teja Sajja
Starting as a child actor, Teja Sajja transitioned to a lead role with 'Zombie Reddy'. Despite his first film establishing him as hero material, subsequent diverse films like 'Ishq' and 'Adbhutham' did not earn much fame. However, he achieved a solid hit nationally with 'Hanuman', directed by Prasanth Varma. This success resonated well, enhancing Teja Sajja's reputation. Currently, he's involved in another pan-India film titled 'Miraya', where Manchu Manoj plays the villain. The already released teaser of 'Miraya' has raised expectations.
Nikhil Siddhartha
Nikhil Siddhartha grabbed everyone’s attention with 'Happy Days'. Post that film, he continued to captivate the youth with solo hero films. His journey includes significant roles in films like 'Swamy Ra Ra', 'Karthikeya', 'Surya vs Surya', 'Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada', and 'Karthikeya 2', establishing him as a reliable hero. Currently, he's part of the historical film 'Swayambhu', produced by Ram Charan, and also 'Karthikeya 3' is in his lineup.
Vishwak Sen
Vishwak Sen, known among the youth as a mass hero, has been careful to ensure diversity in his films from the start. His initial movie 'Vellipomakey' didn't make a big splash, but 'Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi' brought him significant youth following. Following that, 'Falaknuma Das', a mass action drama, secured another success. His roles in 'HIT', 'Paagal', 'Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam', 'Ori Devuda', 'Das Ka Dhamki', 'Gaami', and 'Gangs of Godavari' further cemented his status as a star in Telugu cinema. Currently, he's involved in 'Mechanic Rocky' and 'Laila', where his appearance in a lady getup in 'Laila' is noteworthy.
Adivi Sesh
Adivi Sesh initially appeared in a minor role in the movie 'Sontham' led by Aryan Rajesh. His breakout role as a hero was in 'Karma'. He gained recognition as a villain in Pawan Kalyan’s 'Panjaa'. With important roles in 'Run Raja Run', 'Baahubali', and a series of diverse films like 'Kshanam', 'Goodachari', 'Evaru', 'Major', and 'HIT 2', Adivi Sesh transformed into a reputable hero. Especially with 'Major', his market reach significantly expanded. He's currently working on the sequel to 'Goodachari', expected to be a pan-India release, poised to further boost his career if successful.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda
Starting with a role in Naga Chaitanya’s debut 'Josh', Siddhu Jonnalagadda didn't see much career growth despite diverse roles in movies like 'Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu', 'Orange', and 'Guntur Talkies'. However, he struck blockbuster success with 'DJ Tillu', and its sequel continued this trend. The sequel, 'Tillu Square', notably grossed ₹135 crore. He is currently acting in 'Jack' and 'Telusu Kada', with 'Tillu Cube' also in the pipeline.
Narne Nithiin
Junior NTR’s brother-in-law, Narne Nithiin made his debut with the youthful entertainer 'MAD', which was a success at the box office and connected well with the youth due to its college backdrop. His subsequent film 'Aay', set in a village backdrop, showcased his diversity and was also successful. After a subdued presence in 'MAD', Nithiin’s performance in 'Aay' was much improved, excelling in acting, dance, and comedy, and effectively conveying emotions.

Tollywood's Emerging Directors: Redefining the Role of Heroines
In cinema, both the hero and the heroine are crucial, like the two eyes of a face. Nowadays, heroines seem to have less scope for substantive roles compared to the past, with some directors focusing films predominantly around the hero. Often, heroines appear primarily for songs and to add a visual appeal. Recent movies like 'Liger,' 'Mr. Bachchan,' and 'Double iSmart' have drawn criticism for focusing more on heroines' exposure than their acting skills. However, some young directors in Tollywood are attracting praise for portraying heroines with dignity, following the example set by Sekhar Kammula. Who are these directors? What films have they made? How have they portrayed their heroines? Let’s find out.
Sekhar Kammula
When you think of a sensible director in Tollywood, Sekhar Kammula is one of the first names that come to mind. He is known for creating beautiful love stories and engaging family dramas. The heroines in his films and the way they are portrayed remain memorable to the audience. Kamalinee Mukherjee in 'Anand' and 'Godavari' is a prime example, portrayed as the girl-next-door in a dignified manner. In 'Leader,' Richa Gangopadhyay, and in 'Life is Beautiful,' Shagun Kaur, left lasting impressions. Particularly in films like 'Fidaa' and 'Love Story,' Sai Pallavi's roles won hearts without relying on exposure, affirming Sekhar’s significant contribution to her becoming a star heroine. His understanding of how to extract authentic performances from actresses makes many heroines keen to work with him at least once.
Hanu Raghavapudi
Similar to Sekhar Kammula, director Hanu Raghavapudi takes great care in the portrayal of heroines. His films 'Andala Rakshasi,' 'Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha,' 'Padi Padi Leche Manasu,' and 'Sita Ramam' make it clear that he focuses on the substance of his heroines' roles. Actresses like Lavanya Tripathi, Mehreen, Sai Pallavi, and Mrunal Thakur under his direction have garnered significant acclaim. Mrunal Thakur, in particular, received rave reviews for her role in the beautiful love saga 'Sita Ramam,' achieving star status in Telugu cinema. Her character Sita in the film remains special to her, as stated in various interviews. Hanu has announced a project with Prabhas, introducing a new actress, Iman Ismail, to the Telugu screen, whose appearance has already generated considerable interest.
Vivek Athreya
Young director Vivek Athreya also seems to follow in Sekhar Kammula's footsteps regarding heroine portrayal. His recent film 'Saripodhaa Sanivaaram' with Nani, featuring Tamil actress Priyanka Arul Mohan, showcased her acting without resorting to glamour. His previous works, 'Mental Madhilo,' 'Brochevarevarura,' and 'Ante Sundaraniki,' emphasized dignified portrayals over skin show, with actresses like Nivetha Pethuraj, Nivetha Thomas, and Nazriya Nazim earning recognition for their roles.
Shouryuv
Director Shouryuv made his mark with the film 'Hi Nanna,' capturing hearts and earning praise for his sensitive portrayal. In the film, Nani stars alongside Mrunal Thakur, who was previously known in Bollywood for more glamorous roles. Shouryuv presented her as a quintessential Telugu girl without compromising her dignity throughout the film. Despite opportunities for skin show in songs, he chose not to take that route, maintaining the integrity of Mrunal's character. This approach left film critics impressed and hopeful that he will continue in this manner in his future projects.
Tharun Bhascker
Tharun Bhascker, a young director, has quickly become synonymous with youthful films. He has gained recognition in a short time with content that resonates with the youth, without ever giving in to the temptation to showcase glamour unnecessarily. Starting with his debut film 'Pelli Choopulu,' this aspect becomes clear. Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma's pairing in the film highlighted substantial acting over cheap thrills. This film significantly boosted Ritu Varma's popularity. After turning actor in several films, Tharun Bhascker has returned to directing with 'Keeḍa Cola,' continuing his tradition of dignified cinematic portrayals.

A new era has begun in Tollywood. Innovative directors with fresh ideas are making their mark with blockbuster hits. The latest film 'Aay' featuring N.T. Rama Rao's brother-in-law, Nithiin, as the hero, marks the directorial debut of Anji K. Manikumar. Yadu Vamsi

The narrative, infused with comedy and reminiscences of the 1990s, highlighted the bond among friends and the charm of rural Godavari settings, bringing acclaim to the director.
Mukesh Prajapati
The latest web series Bahishkarana, starring Anjali as a prostitute, marked the directorial debut of Mukesh Prajapati. Released on OTT platforms, the series was a hit, drawing significant viewership. The director vividly portrayed caste discrimination and the oppression of women and marginalized communities by village elders through this revenge drama.
Shouryuv
With the recent film 'Hi Nanna', Shouryuv made his directorial debut, captivating audiences with his approach to a typical subject. He skillfully depicted the relationship between a father and daughter, evoking deep emotions. Featuring mega hero Sai Dharam Tej in the lead role, the film not only drew praises for Dandu's direction but also raked in up to ₹100 crores at the box office, establishing him as a promising new director in the industry.
Srikanth Odela
Nani's 'Dasara' film, grossing over ₹100 crores, was directed by debutant Srikanth Odela. Achieving a massive success with his first film, he attracted the attention of producers. Currently, he has not announced his next film, but Nani has praised his ability to produce outstanding cinema.
Venu Yeldandi
Initially entering the industry as a comedian, Venu transitioned to directing with the film 'Balagam', securing a blockbuster hit. His success filled producer Dil Raju's coffers, leading to readiness among producers to back his scripts. It is rumored that Venu will direct another film under Dil Raju's banner, possibly with hero Nani.
Prasanth Varma
Director Prasanth Varma entertained the audience with unique narrative films like 'Awe!', 'Kalki', and 'Zombie Reddy'. With 'Hanu Man', he became a Pan-India director, delivering a blockbuster that overshadowed films by stars like Mahesh, Venkatesh, and Nagarjuna during the 2024 Sankranthi season.
Gowtam Tinnanuri
Gowtam Tinnanuri introduced himself as a director with the film 'Jersey' starring Nani, which was a blockbuster hit and brought a shower of praises for Nani's performance. Gowtam's direction was highly recognized, and his debut film ensured that heroes and producers noticed him. He is currently directing 'VD12' with Vijay Deverakonda, featuring Bhagyashri Borse as the heroine.
Buchi Babu Sana
With his debut film 'Uppena', director Buchi Babu Sana caught everyone's attention. His next film announcement with Ram Charan surprised everyone, and it will feature Janhvi Kapoor as the heroine in a sports drama backdrop.
Tharun Bhascker
Known for 'Pelli Choopulu' and entertaining everyone with 'Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi', director Tharun Bhascker has excelled not only as a director but also as a dialogue writer. With 'Meeku Maathrame Cheptha', he also stepped into acting. His recent film, a youthful comedy entertainer 'Keedaa Cola', continues to secure his future in the industry.

Aay Movie Review: Another small scale hit comedy
Cast: Narne Nithiin, Nayan Sarika, Kasireddy Raj Kumar, Ankith Koya, and others
Director: Anji K Maniputra
Music Directors: Ram Miriyala, Ajay Arasada
Cinematography: Sameer Kalyani
Producers: Bunny Vas, Vidya Koppineedi
NTR's brother-in-law, Narne Nithiin, stars in his second film, 'Aay'. After achieving a solid hit with the film 'Mad', this young hero is set to impress the audience this week with 'Aay', directed by Anji K. Maniputra and featuring Nayan Sarika as the heroine. The movie was released on August 15th. How is the film? Did it impress the audience? Let’s find out in this review.
What's the Story?
Karthik (Narne Nithiin) from Amalapuram joins a software job in Hyderabad. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, he returns to his village. While working from home, he spends enjoyable times with his childhood friends, Hari and Subbu. During this period, he falls in love with Pallavi (Nayan Sarika) from a neighboring village. Pallavi, who is very active on social media and cares deeply about caste, initially likes Karthik believing he is from the same caste. When she discovers he is from a different caste, she distances herself and agrees to an arranged marriage. Karthik finds it hard to cope with this. Meanwhile, his friends Hari and Subbu try various ways to reunite them. Did their efforts succeed? Did Karthik and Pallavi get married? To find out, one must watch the movie.
How Did They Perform?
Narne Nithiin in the role of Karthik was captivating. This role, compared to his first film, offered more scope for acting, and his maturity is evident in his expressions and dialogue delivery. He was also impressed with his dance skills. Nayan Sarika, as Pallavi, charmed with her beauty and performance, perfectly portraying a girl from the Godavari region. The comedy delivered by Raj Kumar Kasireddy and Ankith Koya in their roles as friends highlighted the film, particularly Kasireddy’s performance, which is memorable. Mime Gopi and Vinod Kumar performed well within the limits of their roles.
How's the Direction?
Though director Anji chose a familiar story, the way he presented it is appealing. The backdrop of Amalapuram, the innocence and warmth in the people, and the bonds of childhood friends all these elements are well-blended into the narrative. The film picks up pace when the three friends reunite, and from the moment Karthik falls in love, the movie becomes more entertaining. The efforts and troubles his friends undergo to help with his love life bring laughs. The director managed to introduce a twist in the straightforward storyline to make the second half more interesting. He also delivered a good message by involving the elders of both families in the second half. The twist in the climax is surprising. However, the routine story, a love track dominated by comedy, and some illogical scenes are drawbacks of the movie.
Technically Speaking
Technically, the cinematography by Sameer Kalyani is a significant plus for the movie. His camera work showcasing the surroundings of Amalapuram and the rural setting is impressive. Regarding music, the songs breathe life into the film, with Ram Miriyala’s Sufi song being particularly enchanting. The production values are high, with the producers not compromising on the budget.
Plus Points:
- Performances
- Comedy
- Climax
Minus Points:
- Routine story
- Predictable narrative

Niharika Konidela's 'Committee Kurrollu': A Vibrant Tapestry of Love, Politics, and Village Festivities
Cast: Sandeep Saroj, Yashwant Pendyala, Eshwar Rachiraju, Trinath Varma, Prasad Behara, Tina Shravya, Radya Suresh, Tejashwi Rao, Saikumar
Director: Yadhu Vamsi
Music: Anudeep Dev
Cinematographer: Raju Eduroulu
Editor: Anwar Ali
Producer: Niharika Konidela
Release Date: 09-08-2024
Niharika Konidela’s latest production, 'Committee Kurrollu,' has been released. The film features lead roles by Sandeep Saroj, Yaswanth Pendyala, Eshwar Rachiraju, Trinath Varma, and Prasad Behara, with Sai Kumar, Goparaju Raman, and others in significant roles. Directed by Yadhu Vamsi, the film hit theaters on August 9. Let's find out how the film has been received, if it has captivated audiences, and if it has brought success to producer Niharika Konidela in this review.
Plot
In Purushottampalli village of Godavari district, the Bharinkaalammatalli Jatra is celebrated once every 12 years. This festival, known as 'Bali Cheta,' holds great significance. This time, the festival coincides with the local Panchayat elections, prompting Sarpanch Polisetty Bujji (Sai Kumar) to face competition from Shiva (Sandeep Saroj), who decides to enter the fray. A tragedy at the festival 12 years ago, which resulted in the death of one of Shiva’s friends due to a caste conflict, leads to a resolution in the Panchayat to halt all election campaigning until the festival concludes. What happens next? How does the issue of reservations disrupt Shiva's gang? Did the friends who separated 12 years ago reunite? What role does Sarpanch Polisetty Bujji play? Did Shiva win the election as Sarpanch?
Performances
In this film, 11 young actors play the lead roles. Sandeep Saroj as Shiva, Trinath Varma as Subbu, Eshwar Rachiraju as William, and Yashwant Pendyala as Surya have all made commendable efforts to engage the audience with their distinct performances. The acting experience of Sai Kumar, Goparaju Raman, and Kancherapalem Kishore adds depth to the story. Prasad Behara's performance as the elder is captivating; he brings much humor to the comedic scenes and deep emotion to the dramatic ones. The other cast members have also performed commendably within their roles.
Direction
Director Yadhu Vamsi navigates the storyline set in the 90s, delicately touching upon the sensitive topic of reservations in society. The screenplay attempts to weave together friendship, love, caste issues, and politics. The dialogues, written in the local dialect of Godavari, and the vividly crafted festival scenes are particularly engaging. The first half progresses swiftly with typical Godavari-style comedy, and the interval builds intrigue. In the second half, the focus shifts more towards emotional scenes, though it feels slower compared to the first half. The scenes leading up to the climax offer a satirical take on today's political leaders. The love stories in the film are left somewhat unresolved, the resolution of the reservations issue is abruptly concluded, and some scenes feel unnecessarily stretched, which could be seen as drawbacks.
Technically
On the technical front, Anudeep Dev’s music stands out as a highlight of the film, especially the background score during the festival scenes. Cinematographer Raju’s camera work is commendable. The editing is adequate. The production values are high, showing that Niharika Konidela did not compromise on the budget.
Plus Points
- Story setting
- Godavari style comedy
- Festival scenes
Minus Points
- Slow-paced narration
- Incomplete love narratives
- Abrupt handling of the reservations issue
