Releases in Theaters The Goat Life Starring Prithviraj Sukumaran as the hero and Amala Paul as the heroine, the latest film 'The Goat Life' is a survival drama based on the novel 'Aadujeevitham' and is set to release on March 28. Directed by Blessy, the movie is adapted from the novel 'Goat Days'. It tells the story of a young man from Kerala who goes to the Middle East for work, ends up as a slave, and how he escapes from there, depicting the challenges he faces. Producer: Ganesh Papanna Release Date: 22-03-2024 In the latest film "Line Man" directed by Raghu Shastry, starring young hero Thrigun and Kaajal Kunder as the lead pair, it was produced under the banner of Purple Rock Entertainers. The film unit has stated that this movie is based on a real incident that happened in Kerala. Released simultaneously in Telugu and Kannada languages today, how did this film turn out? Did it manage to impress the audience? Or not? Let's examine this in this review. What's the Story? Nataraj alias Nattu (Thrigun), whose father worked as a lineman in the electricity department, inherits his job after his sudden death. Consequently, the responsibility of electricity supply in the village falls into Nattu's hands. During this time, he suggests to the villagers to celebrate the 100th birthday of the village deity, Devudamma (B. Jayashree), on a grand scale. The villagers agree and start the preparations. However, they are shocked when Nattu suddenly refuses to provide electricity. Why did Nattu do that? What's Devudamma's reaction? What caused Nattu to cut off the electricity for several days? Did he eventually restore electricity to the village? To know, one must watch the film on screen. How did they Perform? Hero Thrigun perfectly fits into the role of a lineman. As a villager, his natural appearance and expressions were captivating. Heroine Kaajal Kunder, as Devudamma's granddaughter, was okay but her role lacked importance. B. Jayashree, as the 99-year-old Devudamma, delivered an outstanding performance, becoming the film's focal point. Supporting actors like Niviksha Naidu and Harini Srikant, among others, performed well within their roles. How's the Direction? Director Raghu Shastry chose an interesting story for the film. In times when people can hardly bear a power cut for an hour, he explored the scenario of a village facing several days without electricity. The director visually presented the life of village residents and their psyche. He showed how people in villages coped during nights without electricity. A strong reason must be shown for the villagers to adapt to the absence of electricity, and the director managed to convey this emotionally. However, a bit more care in the screenplay would have been better, as some scenes felt dragged. The movie's short duration worked in its favor. As a director, Raghu Shastry made a decent attempt in his first venture. Technically Speaking On the technical front, the team performed well. Cinematographer Shanti Sagar H.G. beautifully captured the village scenes. Manikanth Kadri’s music was good, especially his background score for the emotional scenes added value. The production values were high, showing no compromise on the budget.       Custody Movie Review: Naga Chaitanya's Action Thriller Underwhelms Despite Some Strong Performances
      Cast: Naga Chaitanya, Kriti Shetty, Priyamani, Arvind Swamy, Sarathkumar, Sampath Raj, Vennela Kishore Director: Venkat Prabhu Music: Ilayaraja, Yuvan Shankar Raja Cinematography: S.R Kathir, Sumer Verma Producer: Srinivasa Chitturi Introduction: The plot of "Custody" revolves around Shiva (Naga Chaitanya), a sincere police constable, who dreams of a happy life with his lover, Revathi (Kriti Shetty). One day, while on duty at Sakhineti Palli Police Station, Shiva comes to know that Rajanna (Arvind Swamy) has been arrested and that someone is trying to kill Rajanna. Meanwhile, he also discovers that Revathi is going to get married to another person. Shiva takes Rajanna and Revathi along with him to the court that same night, determined to deliver justice. But, the questions remain - why was Rajanna arrested? Who wants him dead? Will Shiva be able to win Revathi's love amidst all this chaos? These are the key elements of the original storyline of the movie. Story and Performances: The movie starts with an accident and takes about 15 minutes to introduce the characters. The pace of narration before the pre-interval is slow, but it picks up after the interval. The action episode at the interval is a highlight of the movie. However, the second half of the movie suffers from extended and stretched scenes that bore the audience. The love track with Kriti Shetty is also underwhelming. Nevertheless, the action episodes and twists in the story keep the audience engaged. Naga Chaitanya's acting as Shiva is commendable, and he excels in the action scenes. Kriti Shetty shares the screen equally with Naga Chaitanya and delivers a decent performance. Priyamani and Arvind Swamy are noteworthy in their respective roles, and Sarath Kumar, Vennela Kishore, and the rest of the cast do justice to their roles. Technical Aspects: Director Venkat Prabhu's trademark narration is evident in the movie, but the story could have been written more grippingly. The music by Ilayaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja raises expectations, but the songs are not impressive. The background score, however, is a big asset to the movie and elevates some scenes. The cinematography and editing are good. Conclusion: Custody had a lot of expectations riding on it, given the cast and crew. While the movie has some strong performances and action scenes, the story falls short of expectations. The slow start, stretched scenes, and underwhelming love track make the movie less engaging. Overall, Custody is an average action thriller that fails to live up to the hype. Rating: 2.5/5

      The latest film 'Family Star,' starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur and directed by Parasuram under the production of Dil Raju, was released last Friday amidst high expectations. However, due to mixed reviews, the first day collections significantly dropped, marking the lowest Day 1 collections in Vijay's career, as disclosed by trade circles. Did the movie manage to improve its collections over the weekend? How much did it earn on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday? What Were the Weekend Collections? By the end of the weekend, 'Family Star' reportedly garnered Rs. 11.95 crores net in India. The film made Rs. 5.75 crores on the first day, Rs. 3.2 crores on the second day, and Rs. 3 crores on the third day. These figures indicate that the trolls and negative publicity surrounding 'Family Star' have indeed impacted its collections. A Shower of Dollars Overseas However, the film has received a tremendous response overseas, collecting over half a million dollars in the first three days. The NRI audience has shown great interest in watching the movie, and the makers are confident that overseas collections will increase in the coming days. Pre-release Business Figures? With high expectations, 'Family Star' did significant pre-release business. The film sold its theatrical rights worldwide for Rs. 43 crores. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana combined, it registered Rs. 34.50 crores. Telangana (Nizam) accounted for Rs. 13 crores, Rayalaseema (Ceded) Rs. 4.5 crores, and AP Rs. 17 crores. Karnataka and the rest of India contributed Rs. 3 crores, and overseas rights were sold for Rs. 5.5 crores, totaling Rs. 43 crores as announced by trade circles. Hence, 'Family Star's break-even target reached Rs. 44 crores. Considering the current collections, it appears challenging for the film to become profitable. What's the Story? Let's look at some of those Telugu films that came with great stories but didn't do well. Orange Directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar and starring Ramcharan, 'Orange' was a unique concept film that bombed disastrously at the box office. The reason behind its failure remains a mystery. Recently, the film was re-released, and it received a special response from the audience. Film lovers say that 'Orange' was not meant for those times and would have been a blockbuster if it were released now. Awe! Directed by Prasanth Varma of Hanu Man fame, 'Awe!' presents a novel story that offers a unique experience. Many viewers commented online that it would have been great to watch this film in theaters. The concept revolves around Kali, a girl suffering from multiple personality disorder, who creates a character for every feeling she experiences, attempting to communicate her emotions through them. Ante Sundaraniki Starring Nani and Nazriya as the leads, and directed by the distinctive director Vivek Athreya, 'Ante Sundaraniki' connected well with the audience. Appatlo Okadundevadu Starring Nara Rohit and Sree Vishnu, 'Appatlo Okadundevadu' is a heart-touching film with a compelling story. It narrates the journey of a young man dreaming of becoming a cricketer, who gets embroiled in a criminal case and faces trouble from a police officer, who eventually helps him. The climax twist is sure to bring tears to the audience's eyes. Yet, this film resulted in losses at the box office. Karma 'Adivi Sesh's debut film 'Karma' failed at the box office but scored high TRP ratings during its television premieres. The hero in this movie possesses supernatural powers. 1: Nenokkadine Directed by Sukumar and starring Mahesh Babu, '1: Nenokkadine' left the audience confused. By the time people understood the movie, it had already been declared a disaster. The story revolves around a man with a traumatic past, haunted by certain thoughts, leading to unexpected twists in his life. Interestingly, this film gained appreciation after being telecasted on TV. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi 'Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi' brings a smile just by mentioning its name. It's a movie many want to rewatch multiple times, especially after its OTT release, as it didn't receive much attention in theaters. The film, trending on OTT, is frequently watched during boring times, with characters that everyone can connect with. Vedam Starring Allu Arjun, Manchu Manoj, and Anushka Shetty, 'Vedam' is considered a feel-good movie by those who watched it. However, commercially, it was a flop. Directed by Krish, the film did not receive financial success, leaving the producers in loss. Despite being well-received by viewers, the film did not achieve commercial success. Diving into the story... Abhiram (Sai Dharam Tej), an IAS officer, takes up his duties in his own district. He focuses on the Tellaru reservoir, which has been under political influence for many years. What happened next? How did he sing the swan song to CM Vani's (Ramya Krishnan) illegalities? That forms the crux of the story. Mental Madilo Directed by Vivek Athreya and starring Sree Vishnu, "Mental Madilo" (2017) also mesmerized the audience as a feel-good entertainer. Different from routine love stories, this film connected very well with the youth. Even though the movie was well-made, the producers faced difficulties. At the box office, it did not achieve the expected success. Moving on to the story... A young man without a stable mindset falls in love with two women.
