Devara Movie Review: : Jr. NTR’s Stellar Acting Overshadowed by an Uneven Narrative
Cast: NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Shruti Marathe, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, and others.
Written and Directed by: Koratala Siva
Music by: Anirudh Ravichander
Cinematography by: R. Rathnavelu
Editing by: A. Sreekar Prasad
Produced by: Sudhakar Mikkilineni, Kosaraju Harikrishna, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram
Release Date: September 27, 2024
NTR stars in an action drama 'Devara', directed by Koratala Siva, with Janhvi Kapoor as the heroine. NTR returns to dual roles after many years, portraying the characters of Devara and Vara. The promotional materials already released have heightened expectations. Saif Ali Khan plays the antagonist, with significant roles being filled by Prakash Raj, Srikanth, and Shine Tom Chacko. The movie has completed all its schedules and released worldwide on September 27. But how is the film? Does it meet the expectations? Has it impressed the audience or not? Let's find out in this review.
The Story
Located on a hill at the border between Andhra and Tamil Nadu are four villages collectively known as the Red Sea. Here, Devara (NTR) along with Bhairava (Saif Ali Khan), Rayappa (Srikanth), and Kunjara (Shine Tom Chacko) serve as the heads of each village. Their job involves smuggling goods through the sea to Murugan (Murali Sharma) without getting caught by authorities. However, realizing the damage caused, Devara decides to put an end to their smuggling activities. Bhairava disagrees, sparking a conflict between them. Devara instills deep fear in everyone. Bhairava then plans to kill Devara. Does his plan succeed? What pivotal decision does Devara make to stop the smuggling? Why does his son Vara (NTR) become fearful? Who kills Bhairava's men trying to enter the sea? How does Vara's romance with Thangam (Janhvi Kapoor) develop? What is Devara’s connection with gangster Yathi? Watch the movie to know.
Performances
There's no need to specifically mention Tarak's acting; he immerses himself in any role he takes. In this movie, too, he impresses as both Devara and Vara, bringing variations that captivate the audience. He reaffirms his prowess in action scenes and dazzles in dance sequences. Janhvi Kapoor, making her Tollywood debut, fits perfectly as the village girl Thangam, appearing authentic as a Telugu girl, though her screen time is brief. Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan captivates as the villain, making a strong impact in a role that competes with Tarak's. Srikanth, Prakash Raj, Ajay, Murali Sharma, Shruti, and others play significant roles, with other actors performing well within their limits.
Direction
Director Koratala Siva creates a new world named 'Red Sea' and attempts to weave drama and emotions in his unique style. The first half unfolds the story of the Red Sea, the characters Devara and Bhaira, their transformation into smugglers, their conflicts, songs, and the terror Devara instills, all showcased effectively by Koratala. The interval bang is also excellently planned. While the first half revolves around Devara, the second half introduces Vara. The entry of the second NTR is well-executed, but the story seems stretched afterwards. Janhvi Kapoor’s scenes feel forced, except for a song, and the rest seem tedious. The pre-climax action scenes inside the sea are spectacular, but the climax, while engaging, reminds one of the movie Baahubali. Koratala sets up for a part two, ending Devara's story. However, the second part lacks the impact of the first, with a weak love track, dragged scenes, predictable narrative, and missing the typical Koratala mark being the downsides.
Technically
On the technical front, all departments have performed well. Anirudh's background music is another major strength of the movie, enhancing the film with his distinctive BGM. The songs are good, with 'Chuttammalle' likely to generate whistles in theatres. Rathnavelu's cinematography is excellent, richly presenting each scene. Editing is decent. The production values are high, sparing no expense.
Plus Points
- NTR's performance
- First half
- Cinematography
- Music
Minus Points
- Second part
- Weak love track

The Boy Who Wore 'Johnny' Headband for 7 Days Now Directs His Icon Pawan Kalyan: Sujeeth's Story
Young director Sujeeth (HBD Sujeeth) has carved a unique niche for himself in Tollywood. Although he has directed only two films so far, he has garnered a craze that many directors achieve only after many more films. Starting with 'Run Raja Run' as a director, Sujeeth caught everyone's attention at the pan-India level with 'Saaho'. Currently, he is directing 'OG' with Pawan Kalyan, capturing the mega fans' focus. Today, this talented director steps into his 34th year. Let's take a look at some secrets of his career.
Making Short Films at 17
Sujeeth Reddy was born in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, on October 26, 1990. Initially dreaming of becoming a Chartered Accountant, his growing interest in films led him to enroll in the L.V. Prasad Film & TV Academy. He started making short films on YouTube at the age of 17 and has directed over 30 short films to date.
Creativity in Short Films
Typically, YouTube short films are made on a low budget and are not expected to meet high standards. However, Sujeeth's films like 'Run Raja Run', 'Prema Ishq Kaadhal', 'Thokkalo Love Story', 'Vesham', 'Yuddham', 'Prema Care of Drama', and 'Indian Idol' surprised the film industry with their richness and showcased his mesmerizing creativity.

Initial Family Resistance
When Sujeeth expressed his desire to become a director, his family was initially reluctant. However, seeing his dedication to cinema, they eventually supported his decision. His mother even bought him his first camera with her own money, marking the beginning of his journey in the industry.
Guidance from Puri Jagannadh
Upon entering the industry with the aim to direct, Sujeeth initially decided to work as an assistant director under Puri Jagannadh. Meeting him, Puri recognized Sujeeth's abundant directorial skills and encouraged him to pursue directing.
Director at 23

Turning a Short Film into a Feature
Interestingly, 'Run Raja Run', which brought him significant recognition, was originally a short film that Sujeeth transformed into his first full-length feature by making a few changes to the story.
Before 'Baahubali'
UV Creations, which produced Prabhas's 'Mirchi', planned a second film with him and accepted a story from Sujeeth, which Prabhas liked. However, 'Baahubali' has not been released yet. After 'Baahubali', Prabhas's fame skyrocketed, leading Sujeeth to make adjustments to the story, and thus 'Saaho' was made on a pan-India scale. Despite not achieving expected success, Sujeeth's work at such a young age surprised everyone.

HBD Anushka Shetty: Her Unexpected Crush Will Surprise You – It’s Not Who You Think!
Is there a heroine in the South who has earned the kind of craze that heroes have? Yes, Anushka Shetty comes to mind immediately. Anushka has made a name for herself in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam industries by acting alongside leading heroes and excelling in lady-oriented films. Today is Anushka's birthday, stepping into her 43rd year. Let's explore some interesting aspects of her career.
Anushka, hailing from a prominent Tulu family, never thought she would become an actress. It was circumstances that led her into acting, she says.
Anushka graduated from Mount Carmel College in Bangalore, which is also the alma mater of star heroines like Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, and Mamta Mohandas.
During her college days, Anushka attended a meditation workshop called 'Tapasya' even though she wasn’t particularly interested in it; she went because her father, Vittal Shetty, attended it.

Anushka Shetty was trained in yoga by her mentor Bharat Thakur, and later chose to make it her profession. She even conducted yoga sessions in Mumbai for a while.
While she was busy as a yoga teacher, Anushka seized the opportunity to act in the Tollywood film 'Super' directed by Puri Jagannadh, starring King Akkineni Nagarjuna.

Interestingly, Anushka Shetty’s real name is Sweety. She felt uncomfortable when everyone on the set of 'Super' called her Sweety.
Thus, she decided to change her name to Anushka Shetty, which required waiting for a year for her family's approval.

Anushka Shetty is one of the tallest actresses in Tollywood, standing at 5 feet 9 inches. When she speaks on stage, some of our heroes appear shorter than her.
Whenever Anushka is stressed about something, she engages in an interesting activity to overcome it. She reads her favorite proverbs, which she claims helps her relax immediately, she revealed in an interview.
Anushka Shetty is very punctual and takes her meals on time, which she says greatly benefits her health.
She completes her dinner by 8 PM, which helps her sleep well. She also starts her day with yoga before 7 AM, Sweety revealed her secret.
This yoga beauty, Anushka, enjoys writing poetry in English and has a habit of collecting newspapers related to environmental issues.
Before the movie 'Size Zero,' Anushka was quite slim, but she gained a lot of weight for the role. She has been trying to lose weight since, but the effects still linger.
Unlike most heroines who have a crush on heroes, Anushka Shetty's first crush was cricketer Rahul Dravid, she revealed in an interview.
Sweety has been a fan of Rahul Dravid even before she entered films but lamented that she never really got to meet him.
'Arundhati' was a turning point in Anushka's film career. Its success established her as a leading heroine in Tollywood.
Following that, she starred in hit films like 'Rudhramadevi,' 'Baahubali,' 'Baahubali 2,' and 'Bhaagamathie,' which enhanced her fame.
Anushka revealed in an interview that the offer for 'Arundhati' did not come directly to her. It was only after another actress rejected it that it came her way, though she didn't reveal who the actress was.
Many might not know, but Anushka has released a book with her fitness secrets. 'The Magic Weight Loss Pill' by Luke Coutinho features 62 health tips and weight loss techniques Anushka swears by.
Currently, under the direction of Krish, Anushka is filming for 'Ghaati.' In celebration of her birthday today, the first look poster was released this morning, showing Sweety with blood on her hand and head, smoking a cigar.
At 4:05 PM, the movie team also released a special glimpse of 'Ghaati,' showcasing Anushka in a fierce mass elevation scene, chopping off someone's peak with a machete.

Darling Movie Review:A Whirlwind of Romance and Laughter with a Twist of Complexity
Cast: Priyadarshi, Nabha Natesh, Brahmanandam, Vishnu, Krishna Teja, Ananya Nagalla, Muralidhar Goud, among others.
Written and Directed by: Aswin Ram
Music by: Vivek Sagar
Cinematography: Naresh Ramadurai
Dialogues by: Hemanth
Producers: K. Niranjan Reddy, Chaitanya Reddy
Release Date: July 19, 2024
The unique romantic comedy entertainer 'Darling' starring Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh, and directed by Aswin Ram, has already captivated audiences with its promotional material. Produced under the banner of PrimeShow Entertainment by K. Niranjan Reddy and Mrs. Chaitanya Reddy, the film released worldwide on July 19th..
Plot
Since childhood, Raghav (Priyadarsi) has dreamed of marriage and a honeymoon. Working as an agent in a travel agency, he finally seems poised to realize this dream when he becomes engaged to Nandini (Ananya Nagalla), a psychologist chosen by his father (Muralidhar Goud). However, his plans unravel when Nandini leaves him at the altar for another man. Heartbroken and on the brink of despair, Raghav's life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Anandi (Nabha Natesh). The two quickly fall in love and marry, but on their wedding night, Raghav discovers that Anandi has multiple personality disorder, hosting five distinct personalities: Aadi, Maya, Jhansi, Papa, and Srisri. The unfolding challenges Raghav faces with Anandi’s complex condition promise a story filled with intrigue and emotion. To uncover the full story, one must head to the theaters.
Performance
Priyadarsi, once again, charms as Raghav, fitting perfectly into his role with his distinctive comedic timing, delighting the audience. Nabha Natesh excels in a challenging role with various facets, carrying the film on her shoulders with a career-best performance. She brilliantly displays the variations of her split personalities. The funny scenes between Nabha Natesh and Priyadarsi are engaging, though the dubbing for Nabha Natesh's role could have been better. Supporting actors like Ananya Nagalla and Muralidhar Goud play their parts within limits. Guest appearances by Suhas, Brahmanandam, and Niharika Konidela also shine.
Direction
Director Aswin Ram attempts to present the complex concept of multiple personality disorder in a humorous light. The first half is swiftly paced with sequences of wedding preparations, a halted marriage, a suicide attempt, and the quick marriage to Anandi all unfolding in an entertaining manner. While the first half thrills and amuses the audience, the story seems to dull down in the second half. The backstory of the heroine and the repetitive narrative might bore the audience. The climax is particularly confusing. Despite the innovation, director Aswin Ram struggles to keep the film engaging throughout.
Technically
On the technical front, the cinematography is a major plus for the film, providing fresh visuals. Vivek Sagar’s music, however, does not make a significant impact. The editing could have been tighter. The production values are high, with no compromises on the budget.
Plus Points
- Performances by Priyadarsi and Nabha Natesh
- Comedy
- Cinematography
Minus Points
- Second half
- Screenplay
- Music

Key roles are played by Payal Radhakrishna, Raashi Singh, Nandu, and Viva Harsha. The movie's plot revolves around Surya, who works as a radio jockey, has his life turned upside down by an accident that leaves him with face blindness. The story revolves around three characters. Thevan, a singer, travels through a forest and comes across an abandoned mansion. Exclusive: The Top Telugu Movie Flops That Had Audiences Leaving Before the Interval in Recent Times.
Tollywood has released countless films throughout its history. Naturally, not all of these films achieve blockbuster status. Audience responses can be mixed—while some movies become hits, others do not fare as well. The films we're going to discuss next, however, were particularly flops. Reports indicate that audiences walked out of the theaters before these movies even reached the halfway mark. Let's take a look at these films.
[toc]
Extra Ordinary Man
From the day of its release, the recent film featuring Nithiin and Sreeleela , 'Extra Ordinary Man', encountered heavy criticism and trolling on social media. Critics admitted struggling to watch it even until the interval. Viewers were puzzled by the protagonist's actions, which seemed entirely controlled by the villain. 'Extra Ordinary Man' quickly became one of the most trolled films in Nithiin's career.
Shaakuntalam
'Shaakuntalam', starring Samantha, arrived with high expectations, being her first venture into mythological cinema, and the promotional content had amplified these anticipations. However, the reception took a downturn after its release. Critics believed Samantha was not well-suited for the role of Shaakuntala, and pointed out issues with the dubbing. Online commenters also noted that the film was difficult to watch even through the first half.
Radhe Shyam
'Radhe Shyam', featuring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, fell short of audience expectations. Although Prabhas's dashing vintage appearance had raised hopes, the film's blend of astrology and romance failed to connect with viewers. Social media was a buzz with comments from fans who felt bored within the first hour and many reported leaving the theater at the interval.
World Famous Lover
The film 'World Famous Lover', featuring Vijay Deverakonda with heroines Raashii Khanna, Aishwarya Rajesh, Catherine, and Izabelle, began facing trolls from its release. Critics targeted the movie for its focus solely on romance, lacking a substantial plot. Some netizens harshly commented that Vijay might be better suited for adult films. Social media posts reflected anticipation for the interval, with viewers eager to exit the theater.
Brahmotsavam
'Brahmotsavam' is often cited as a significant disappointment in Mahesh Babu's career, leaving a lasting mark, as per his fans. Despite featuring a star-studded ensemble including Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha, and Pranitha, along with Satyaraj, Jayasudha, Revathi, Tulasi, and Rao Ramesh, the film did not engage audiences. Trolling started from the very first showing on its release day, with even Mahesh Babu's own fans admitting they walked out halfway through the movie.
Son Of India
'Son Of India', featuring the veteran actor Manchu Mohan Babu, encountered significant negativity even before its release. Notably, only two tickets were sold for the first show on opening day at one theater, an incident that quickly went viral on social media, with speculations that even those tickets might have been purchased by the Manchu family themselves. The few who did watch the film gave it negative reviews, resulting in its rapid withdrawal from theaters. It is considered the biggest disaster in Mohan Babu's career.
Vinaya Vidheya Rama
'Vinaya Vidheya Rama', a film by Ram Charan and director Boyapati Srinu, faced widespread criticism from its first showing. People took to social media to label the film as extremely poor and expressed eagerness for the interval so they could leave. Audiences found certain scenes, like Ram Charan standing on a moving train to Bihar or him beheading the villain's henchmen and carrying their heads, hard to accept.
Liger
'Liger', another disaster in Vijay Deverakonda's career, was directed by Puri Jagannadh and released on a Pan-India scale, only to receive a flop response. Interest in the film faded within the first hour of its release, leading to a flood of posts on the internet. Critics questioned why Vijay put so much effort into a role that ultimately did not seem to fit him well.
Sakthi
When you think of disasters in Telugu cinema, 'Sakthi' is often the first film that comes to mind. Its director, Meher Ramesh, is still playfully criticized by NTR fans. Viewers questioned how Tarak (NTR ) agreed to the script after just the first show. Criticisms also targeted the flashback scenes, noting that Tarak's look was completely unsuitable. The same director's film 'Shadow' with Venkatesh also ended up as a disaster. Interestingly, 'Shakthi' was still being mentioned during the release of Meher Ramesh's recent film 'Bhola Shankar'.
Saleem
'Saleem', featuring Manchu Vishnu and Ileana D'Cruz, stands out as one of the notable failures in Telugu cinema. Manchu Vishnu notably slimmed down for his role in the film. Critics remarked that the movie appeared to be a jumble of four to five different film scripts combined. Comments indicated that the film turned dull before even reaching the midpoint of the first part.

Dhoom Dhaam Review: Does the Family Drama and Comedy Deliver Enough Punch?
Cast: Chetan Krishna, Chetan Maddineni, Vennela Kishore, Sai Kumar, Vinay Varma, Praveen, Naveen Neni, Goparaju Ramana, and others.
Director: Sai Kishore Macha
Music: Gopi Sundar
Cinematography: Siddharth Ramaswamy
Producer: M.S. Ram Kumar
Release Date: November 8, 2024
The latest film ‘Dhoom Dhaam,’ starring Chetan Maddineni and Hebah Patel, directed by Sai Kishore Macha, also features Sai Kumar, Vennela Kishore, Prithviraj, and Goparaju Ramana in key roles. Produced by M.S. Ram Kumar under the Friday Frameworks banner, the film finally arrived in theaters on November 8. Has it impressed the Telugu audience? Let’s dive into the review.
What's the Story
Karthik (Chetan Maddineni) shares a deep bond with his father, Ramaraju (Sai Kumar), with both father and son supporting and caring for each other. One day, Karthik falls in love with Suhana (Hebah Patel) at first sight, though she initially doesn’t reciprocate. Frustrated, Karthik heads to Poland, where Suhana follows him, eventually winning his love. Meanwhile, Karthik has a long-standing feud with Suhana’s uncle (Ramaraju) and her father’s brother (Benarjee), who want to kill him. What’s behind this enmity? How does Karthik resolve these issues? Do Karthik and Suhana unite in the end? To find out, you’ll need to watch the movie.
Performance
Chetan Krishna, as Karthik, delivers a decent performance, showing growth in his acting, though he could have worked more on expressions, especially in key scenes. Hebah Patel impresses as Suhana, returning to a commercial role and scoring well with both her charm and acting. Their chemistry works well on screen. Vennela Kishore, in the role of Karthik’s cousin, steals the show with his comedy, which is a major strength of the film. Sai Kumar, Goparaju Ramana, Shivannarayana, Benarjee, Sai Srinivas, Praveen, and Giridhar all perform within their roles effectively.
Direction
Director Sai Kishore Macha has chosen a straightforward storyline. However, his effort to deliver a good romantic and family entertainer is commendable. Even with a love track, he avoids vulgarity, carefully presenting the bond between father and son, father and daughter, and other family relationships. The first half focuses on the love story, minor conflicts, and misunderstandings, which feel a bit routine, with Praveen’s comedic relief standing out. The interval twist brings intrigue into the second half, where the backstory of the heroine’s family unfolds, giving the film more depth. Vennela Kishore shoulders most of the second half with his comedy. However, slow narration, underutilized casting, and a few unclear expressions from the hero act as drawbacks.
Technical Aspects
On the technical front, Gopi Sundar’s music is a big asset. The songs are enjoyable, and the background score adds a fresh feel. Siddharth Ramaswamy’s cinematography is impressive, with vibrant visuals. The editor could have tightened the runtime further. The production values are outstanding, with no expense spared by the producers.
Plus Points
- Vennela Kishore’s comedy
- Family emotions
- Music
Minus Points
- Routine story
- Regular love track
- Slow narration

Game Changer Teaser Set to Drop in Lucknow: Ram Charan's High-Stakes Film Heads North for Pan-India Impact!
Following 'RRR', the highly anticipated film 'Game Changer' starring Ram Charan, directed by renowned director Shankar and produced by Telugu producer Dil Raju, is set to be a political action entertainer scheduled to release as a festive gift on January 10. As the release date approaches, the film's team is focusing on promotions, including locking in the date for the teaser release. It has been announced that the teaser will be released in Uttar Pradesh. Despite having two Telugu states, why is the teaser launch event planned in the North? It seems there is a master plan behind this decision.
When is the teaser?
In the upcoming film 'Game Changer,' Bollywood beauty Kiara Advani stars as the heroine alongside another heroine, Anjali, who plays a significant role. The film features Naveen Chandra, Sunil, Srikanth, Bollywood actor Harry Josh, Kollywood actors SJ Suryah, Samuthirakani, and Kannada actor Jayaram in key roles. Karthik Subbaraj provides the story, and Sai Madhav Burra delivers the dialogues. Recently, the movie team has fixed the teaser release for November 9th and announced that the launch event will take place in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Why in Lucknow?
Initially, the 'Game Changer' teaser launch event was planned to be held in Hyderabad. However, due to local conditions and permissions, the venue was shifted to Lucknow. Given the film's pan-India release, nationwide promotions are deemed crucial. The movie team believes that starting the official promotions in the North could enhance accessibility and engagement with the audience there. Moreover, starting from the teaser release, the team plans to keep the buzz alive by releasing updates every two weeks. Ram Charan is performing dual roles, and it remains to be seen if the teaser will reveal the looks of these two characters.
The First of its Kind!
Tamil cinema's leading director, Shankar, has directed numerous blockbuster hits such as 'Gentleman', 'Premikudu', 'Bharateeyudu', 'Jeans', 'Oke Okkadu', 'Boys', 'Aparichitudu', 'Sivaji', and 'Robo', which were all popular in Telugu through dubbing. 'Game Changer' marks Shankar’s first direct Telugu film, and it is also his first collaboration with Ram Charan. Known for making films with strong messages, Shankar has crafted 'Game Changer' in the same vein, and it appears the teaser has been cut to introduce its theme. It will be interesting to see how much the teaser excites the audience.
A Highlight for the Film!
Recently, the 'Game Changer' team released a special poster hinting at an upcoming teaser. It sparked interest with an image of Charan sitting at a table with numerous gangsters charging towards him, suggesting it's the film’s introduction scene. Rumors suggest this mob fight will give viewers goosebumps similar to 'RRR' and is expected to be a major highlight of the film. After the fight, Charan reportedly boards a helicopter, followed by the song 'Ra Macha Macha.'
Record Business?
Trade circles predict 'Game Changer' will do substantial business in the Telugu states, with potential theatrical business around ₹150 crores from Andhra Pradesh, Ceded, and Nizam areas. Originally, such high business figures were not anticipated when the film was scheduled for a December release. However, with the release now set for Sankranthi, the business expectations have significantly increased, according to film circles.

'Devara' is being showcased to packed houses in all theaters. Audiences are praising Jr NTR's performance, Anirudh's music, and Koratala Siva's dialogues, contributing to a first-day collection of over Rs. 172 crores, demonstrating its box office strength. By the end of the weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), let's see how much the film has collected.
How much are the weekend collections?
Starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, 'Devara' has created a storm at the box office. Three days post-release, the film shows no signs of slowing down in collections. Over the weekend, it grossed a staggering Rs. 304 crores (GROSS), officially announced by the makers through a poster. This news has left Tarak's fans ecstatic as 'Devara' continues its rampage at the box office. Already part of the 300 crore club, trade circles predict it will easily hit Rs. 500 crores by the end of the week.
Region-wise performance
The makers of 'Devara' have only announced worldwide collections. However, trade circles have attempted to estimate region-wise earnings. According to their data, in the two Telugu states, 'Devara' garnered Rs. 126.5 crores over three days. It collected Rs. 38.77 crores in Nizam alone and Rs. 17.90 crores in the Ceded region. In Karnataka, it earned Rs. 20.9 crores, in Tamil Nadu Rs. 5.9 crores, in Kerala Rs. 1.4 crores, and Rs. 35.3 crores in the rest of India. Overseas, it is reported to have made over Rs. 65 crores, marking the highest collections in Tarak's career.
Day 1 collections set new records!
'Devara' has set a record for the highest day 1 collections in Jr NTR’s career as a solo hero. On its first day, it grossed over Rs. 172 crores worldwide, as officially announced by the makers with a special poster. This is a significant achievement post-'RRR' in Tarak's career. Trade circles reported that it made Rs. 83.71 crores on the first day in the two Telugu states alone, with Rs. 19.32 crores coming from Nizam, making it the second all-time highest after 'RRR'.
Reasons for Devara's success!
'Devara' introduces a new world called 'Erra Samudram' created by director Koratala Siva. The film showcases Tarak in a one-man show, delivering exceptional performances as both Devara and his son Vara. Saif Ali Khan, playing the villain, also captivated audiences. Anirudh’s background score has been a major strength for the film, especially in action sequences. Director Koratala Siva impressed with his screenplay and dialogues. The way the action sequences were crafted, the interval bang, and the climax provided great entertainment. However, slow scenes and a weak love track could be seen as drawbacks.
Devara's Story
Set on a hill across four villages at the Andhra-Tamil Nadu border, known as 'Erra Samudram,' Devara (Jr NTR) along with Bhairava (Saif Ali Khan), Rayappa (Srikanth), and Kunjara (Shine Tom Chacko) are village heads. They smuggle goods through the sea without getting caught by the officials, handing them over to Muruga (Murali Sharma). Realizing the damage caused, Devara decides to stop the smuggling, which Bhairava opposes, leading to a conflict. Devara instills deep fear among his people, while Bhairava plans to kill him. Will Bhairava's plan succeed? What critical decision does Devara make to stop the smuggling? Why has his son Vara turned into a fearful figure? Who is killing the people trying to cross the sea? How does Vara's romance with Thangam (Janhvi Kapoor) unfold? What connects Devara to the gangster Yati? Watch the movie to find out.

Purushothamudu Review: Raj Tarun's Journey from Billionaire to Common Man"
Cast: Raj Tarun, Hasini, Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, and others.
Written and Directed by: Ram Bhimana
Music: Gopi Sundar
Cinematography: PG Vinda
Editing: Marthand K. Venkatesh
Producers: Dr. Ramesh Tejavath, Prakash Tejavath
Amidst personal and professional struggles, young hero Raj Tarun's latest film 'Purushothamudu' has arrived in theaters. Directed by Ram Bhimana and starring actress Hasini as the female lead, this film tests Raj Tarun's ability to rebound. Let’s see if it has succeeded in giving him a hit in this review.
What's the story?
Rachit Ram (Raj Tarun) was born a billionaire, the sole heir of Aditya Ram (Murali Sharma), who heads PR Groups. After completing his education abroad, Aditya decides to entrust his son with the CEO responsibilities. However, Rachit's aunt Vasundhara (Ramya Krishnan) objects to this. According to company rules, a candidate for CEO must live incognito as a common man for 100 days. Rachit agrees to this and steps outside his comfort zone. He travels to a remote village in Andhra Pradesh named Rayapulanka. What twists did Rachit’s life take there? What adventures did he undertake to save the village farmers? And what is his love story with Ammu? That forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Raj Tarun delivers a commendable performance in dual dimensions as Rachit Ram, convincingly playing both a billionaire and an unidentifiable common man. Hasini Sudheer, as the village girl Ammu, shines beautifully on screen, and the love scenes between Raj Tarun and Ammu are pleasing. Praveen provides comic relief in the friend’s role, while other comedians like Satya and Brahmanandam shine throughout the film.
Direction
We've seen many films where a wealthy young man lives as a common man for various reasons. Director Ram Bhimana has crafted 'Purushothamudu' in a similar vein. The real story begins when the wealthy hero reaches the village of Rayapulanka. The introductions and romantic scenes with the heroine are engaging. The first half is entertaining with village backdrop comedy, and the hero's stance against injustices in the village makes for an appealing interval bang. However, the narrative seems to lose track in the second half, meandering predictably and boringly without any significant twists. The climax, although predictable, is somewhat saved by Prakash Raj's entry and his impactful dialogues. Director Ram Bhimana fails to bring any novelty to the story or narration.
Technically
Musically, Gopi Sundar’s contributions are just passable, with none of the songs being particularly memorable. The background score is decent. PG Vinda’s cinematography is impressive, capturing the essence of village life beautifully. The editing is adequate, and the production values are suitably high for the film.
Plus Points
- Raj Tarun’s acting
- Some scenes in the first half
- Chemistry between the hero and heroine
Minus Points
- Routine story
- Predictable narrative
- Lack of twists

Vijay's 'The GOAT': A Predictable Action Drama with Strong Performances and High Expectations
Cast: Vijay, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prabhu Deva, Prashant Thyagarajan, Kokila Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, VTV Ganesh, Aravind Akash, Vaibhav Reddy, and others.
Story and Direction: Venkat Prabhu
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Cinematography: Siddharth Nuni
Editing: Venkat Rajan
Producers: Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh, Kalpathi S. Suresh
Tamil star hero Vijay stars in the latest action thriller 'The GOAT' (The Greatest of All Time), directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film also features Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead, with important roles played by Sneha, Laila, Prashant, and Prabhu Deva. This film is notable for its use of de-aging technology. With rumors circulating that this might be Vijay's last film before entering politics, expectations for the film were quite high. How did the film turn out? How much did it captivate the audience? Did it provide another unforgettable success for Vijay or not? Let’s find out in this review.
Plot
Gandhi (Vijay), a special anti-terrorism squad officer, conducts various successful missions with his teammates Sunil (Prashant), Ajay (Ajmal), and Kalyan Sundaram (Prabhu Deva). However, he keeps his job a secret from his wife Anu (Sneha). During one mission abroad, his five-year-old son dies. Believing her husband to be responsible, Anu distances herself from Gandhi. Distraught, Gandhi leaves the force. Years later, on a trip to Moscow, he encounters his son Jeevan (Vijay), whom he thought was dead, alive. Overjoyed, he brings him back to India. From then on, Gandhi’s acquaintances start dying one by one. Who is responsible for these deaths? How did his presumed-dead son come back? How does Gandhi stop the killings? These questions form the crux of the story.
Performances
Vijay delivers a dual role, excelling as Gandhi but the young Vijay’s digitally aged look as Jeevan might feel a bit off, not entirely convincing. Vijay shines again in action sequences and emotional scenes, proving his star quality. Meenakshi Chaudhary as the heroine doesn’t have much of a role, feeling more like a guest appearance. Prashant, Ajmal, and Prabhu Deva as squad members are adequate but not outstanding. Jayaram, as the head of the squad, captivates with his performance. Sneha impresses with her acting as Gandhi’s wife. Tamil youth hero Shiva Karthikeyan makes a mark in a cameo, and Trisha excites in a special song appearance. The rest of the cast performs adequately within their roles.
Direction
Director Venkat Prabhu’s storyline lacks novelty. The narrative of a hero working in defense and the villain raising his son to turn against him has been seen many times before. However, the scenes detailing the son’s revenge feel engaging. The first half is mostly spent introducing the characters, and the plot progresses as expected until the pre-interval. The interval scene raises curiosity for the second half, which, although predictable, includes some twists that surprise the audience. The comedy and dialogues are deeply rooted in Tamil culture, which might not entirely appeal to the Telugu audience. However, Vijay’s fans will likely find the film quite entertaining.
Technically
On the technical front, the songs by Yuvan Shankar Raja are forgettable, not leaving a lasting impact. However, the background music enhances the action sequences, elevating them to another level. The graphic department could have done better, especially with Vijay’s de-aging look. Editing is competent. The production values are high, showing no compromise in terms of budget.
Plus Points
- Vijay’s performance
- Action sequences
- Climax
Minus Points
- Predictable plot
- Slow first half

Shocking! Small Film 'Pottel' Beats Jr NTR's 400-Crore 'Devara' in Fan Reviews
Ananya Nagalla and Yuva Chandra starred in the latest film "Pottel," directed by Saahith Mothkuri, who was introduced as a director with the movie "Savaari." Recently, "Pottel" has garnered a level of publicity that small films rarely achieve. Released last Friday (October 25), the film has been receiving positive responses from audiences. Viewers commented that the film reflects very natural and real-life scenarios from the past. In this context, a viewer’s comment comparing "Devara" to "Pottel" has gone viral on the internet.
'Much better than Devara'
The film "Devara," directed by Koratala Shiva starring Jr. NTR, was recently released and created a tsunami of collections, grossing over Rs. 400 crores at the box office. Top-notch music director Anirudh worked on this film. A viewer’s comment comparing "Pottel" to "Devara" has been trending online. A YouTuber who went to the theater showing "Pottel" tried to gather audience opinions. In the process, he stopped the audience coming out of the theater and asked how the movie was. The viewer expressed in the video that he liked "Pottel" much better than "Devara." Are smaller films better than big films? The YouTuber asked, to which he reiterated the viewer’s opinion that "Pottel" is better than "Devara." This video is currently going viral.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1849871631818293722
Content is king
Regardless of whether it’s a big or small film, Telugu audiences appreciate good content, which is exactly what is happening with "Pottel." This low-budget film with a solid story is captivating the audience. Recent films like "Aay," "Committee Kurrollu," and "Mathu Vadalara 2" also achieved success in the same way, despite not having big stars or big budgets. However, the Telugu audience embraced even "Devara." Yet, it is intriguing that the viewer expressed a preference for "Pottel" over "Devara."
What is "Pottel" about?
Director Saahith Mothkuri has depicted the rural backdrop of the 1980s in "Pottel," transporting the audience back in time right from the beginning. In the first 20 minutes, he immerses the audience in village life, showing how the lower and vulnerable classes were oppressed and subjected to severe hardship. The film’s approach to caste, religion, and egotistical distinctions between big and small has become a major attraction. The introduction of characters, the love story between the hero and heroine, and other scenes beautifully set up the first half. The second part seems a bit faltering where the director over-emphasized the villain harming the main characters to evoke emotions, leading to scenes that stray from logic. However, the director succeeded in connecting the audience with the underlying message of the story.
Plot
The story unfolds in Gurramgadda village, located at the borders of Maharashtra and Telangana. The villagers conduct a festival for the village deity Balamma once in every cycle and offer sacrifices. It is believed that during this time, the deity possesses Patel (Ajay), the village head, who then prevents the villagers from progressing, particularly in education. On the other side, Pedda Gangadhari (Yuva Chandra) serves as the keeper of the sacrificial animals and secretly educates his daughter. When Patel finds out, he makes the sacrificial animal disappear. He threatens to sacrifice Gangadhari’s daughter if the animal isn’t found by the festival. What does Gangadhari do to save his daughter? Is he able to bring back the animal? What role does Bujjamma (Ananya Nagalla) play in this story?
