Plot Subramanyam (Rao Ramesh), a resident of Maruthi Nagar, was selected for a teaching job in 1998. However, due to a court stay, the job was put on hold indefinitely. Since then, he has resolved not to take up any other work and lives unemployed. His wife, Kalarani (Indraja), works as a clerk in a government office. They have a son, Arjun (Ankith Koyya), who falls in love with Kanchana (Ramya Pasupuleti) at first sight. Amidst hardships, one day, unexpectedly, Subramanyam's account receives ₹10 lakhs. Who deposited the money? Did Subramanyam finally get his government job or not? What did his son do to win his love? You'll have to watch the movie to find out. Performance There's nothing new to say about Rao Ramesh's acting; he perfectly embodied the character of Subramanyam throughout the film, utilizing his extensive experience. His son, played by Ankith, was quite captivating. After last week's 'Aay', he has impressed again in this film, and his antics provide a good dose of laughter. Ramya Pasupuleti, who played Kanchana, didn’t have much scope for acting but made a notable attempt at glamor. Indraja's role was limited; apart from being emotional in the beginning and dancing at the end, there wasn’t much for her. Other characters like Praveen, Harshavardhan, and Annapurnamma were satisfactory. Direction The director, Lakshman Karya, has woven the narrative around the unemployment struggles of a middle-aged man belonging to the middle class. His incorporation of natural scenarios with a touch of humor has been successful. The sudden change in Subramanyam's demeanor once money is deposited into his account, and the ensuing antics are the highlights. The second part of the movie, revolving around the problems after spending the money, is well-directed. Although predictable, Rao Ramesh’s timing and humor elevate the film. The plot twists in the climax add intrigue, but Ankith’s love track and some illogical scenes and unfunny comedy bits are downsides. Technically... On the technical front, every department has performed well. The cinematography is notably colorful, and the songs are pleasant to listen to. The background score effectively elevates the scenes. Editing is also decent. The production values appear quite rich. Directed by Surya Manoj Vangal, this crime thriller sees Trisha in the role of a police officer. The series also features Indrajith Sukumaran, Jayaprakash, Amani, Ravindra Vijay, Anand Sami, and Rakendu Mouli in significant roles. "Brinda" began streaming on SonyLIV from August 2. How does this web series fare? Does it capture the OTT audience? Let’s explore in this review. Plot Brinda (Trisha) is a newly appointed SI at a police station. Being a woman, she initially receives little respect from her colleagues. One day, a corpse is discovered in a local pond. The post-mortem reveals that the victim was scalped and stabbed 16 times in the chest. Despite her superior’s orders to close the case, Brinda starts her investigation and uncovers a shocking truth. She discovers a pattern of 16 brutal murders. Consequently, senior police officials set up a special investigation team and include Brinda as a member. Who is the serial killer? Why are the murders being committed? How does Brinda’s team apprehend him? What is the connection of these murders to superstitions? Performances As police officer Brinda, Trisha captivates with her performance, portraying a dignified woman with conviction. She excels in action sequences. On the other hand, Anand Sami impresses as the villain, blending innocence with cruelty in his performance, becoming a highlight of the series. Indrajith and Ravindra Vijay perform well within their roles. The rest of the cast also manage to deliver decent performances. Direction On the narrative front, director Surya Manoj Vangal crafts this series with a conventional crime thriller theme but manages to engage the audience right from the beginning with a well-paced screenplay. The way the story intertwines incidents from the past and present is commendable. The investigation led by Brinda’s team unfolds intriguingly as they uncover each clue. However, the series seems elongated under the guise of detailed investigation, and some scenes of evidence collection stretch beyond logical reasoning. The portrayal of other police officers as unable to spot even minor clues does not quite impress. The subplot involving Trisha’s sister appears irrelevant to the main story. While the series spans eight episodes, some seem overly drawn out. Overall, the director successfully maintains engagement from start to finish. Technically... Technically, all departments have performed well. The background score, in particular, adds a significant plus to the film. The cinematography is also commendable. The editor could have tightened the work to benefit the pace. The production values are high.
