From Screen to Stream: 'Kalki 2898 AD' Sets Sights on OTT Debut
From Screen to Stream: 'Kalki 2898 AD' Sets Sights on OTT Debut
The film 'Kalki 2898 AD', featuring Rebel Star Prabhas and director Nag Ashwin, has shaken the box office, garnering over ₹1100 crores globally. Since its release on June 27, this mythological science fiction movie has been breaking numerous records at the box office and continues to dominate theaters even after 50 days. Many are eagerly anticipating when 'Kalki' will be available on OTT. A recent update related to its streaming has come out, exciting the fans of Prabhas immensely. Is the OTT Date for Kalki Locked? It appears that Amazon Prime has secured the digital streaming rights for 'Kalki 2898 AD'. There is strong buzz that the film will be brought to streaming on August 23. However, it is rumored that the film will be slightly trimmed compared to the theatrical version, with about 6 minutes of footage potentially being cut. Official announcements regarding the OTT release and the runtime are expected soon. However, Prabhas' fans are expressing dissatisfaction with the decision to trim the runtime, questioning why scenes that were not in the theatrical version aren't being added instead. Prabhas Pushes Shah Rukh Back In 2024, 'Kalki 2898 AD' stood out as the biggest hit among all the releases so far, continuously setting new records and garnering immense popularity. It has reportedly collected over ₹760 crores across all languages nationwide, surpassing the all-time Indian collection record of Shah Rukh Khan's movie 'Jawan', which had collections amounting to ₹760 crores. Prior to 'Kalki', 'Jawan' held the fourth position in the list of highest-grossing Indian films. As per the latest collections, 'Kalki 2898 AD' now ranks as the fourth highest-grossing Indian film, following 'Baahubali 2', 'KGF 2', and 'RRR' in the top three spots. Looks Like No Kalki 2 Anytime Soon! With the blockbuster success of 'Kalki 2898 AD', anticipation is high for a sequel. Producer Ashwani Dutt previously hinted that 'Kalki 2' could be released around June or July next year, with 60% of the shooting already completed. However, recent buzz suggests that the remaining shooting might face delays due to Deepika Padukone, who is currently pregnant and due in September. Post-delivery, she plans to take at least a year's break from films, having already stepped back from a much-loved project by Rohit Shetty and a major Bollywood show. This indicates that Deepika might also be unavailable for 'Kalki 2's' shooting, potentially pushing its release to 2026 if this scenario unfolds. Prabhas in Full Swing! Currently, Prabhas has more pan-India films in his pipeline than any other star in the country. Any project with Prabhas isn't expected to start before 2026. Currently, he is working on 'Raja Saab' under the direction of Maruthi, which is progressing rapidly. He is also set to collaborate with Sandeep Reddy Vanga for a movie titled 'Spirit', and a sequel to 'Salaar' directed by Prashanth Neel is in the works post 'NTR 31'. Prabhas is also set to portray Lord Shiva in 'Kannappa' starring Manchu Vishnu, and has another project lined up with Hanu Raghavapudi. All these projects are likely to take at least two years to complete.

Global star Prabhas is currently at the peak of his career. His recent films, 'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire' and 'Kalki 2898 AD', have been major box office successes, reinforcing his status as a top actor. Since the release of 'Baahubali 2', there has been a noticeable increase in the momentum of his films, with annual releases now a consistent part of his strategy. Last year, he starred in two films, and this year he has already introduced audiences to 'Kalki'. Next year, he is scheduled to appear in three films. Let’s delve into more details about these upcoming projects. Three upcoming films in the pipeline! After 'Baahubali' and 'Baahubali 2', Prabhas's appeal has skyrocketed, elevating him from a regional Tollywood star to a global icon. He is not only maintaining this status but is also enhancing it with each new film. Currently, Prabhas has five major projects lined up. He is working on 'Raja Saab' with director Maruthi, 'Spirit' with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, 'Kalki 2' with Nag Ashwin, and 'Salaar 2' with Prashanth Neel, along with a new film with Hanu Raghavapudi. The first three films are set to release in 2025, with 'Raja Saab' already scheduled for an April 10, 2025 release. Producer Ashwini Dutt recently mentioned in an interview that the shooting for 'Kalki 2' is partially completed and hinted at a potential release around June next year. Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Spirit' is expected to start production soon, with plans to release by the end of next year. Given these developments, it is confirmed that Prabhas will have three releases in 2025, as per Tollywood buzz. Prabhas's consistent performance! Prabhas is embracing the maxim "Strike while the iron is hot," actively producing films to enhance his popularity and fanbase at the peak of his career. He has been rapidly completing projects, offering double the entertainment to his fans. In 2023, he presented 'Adipurush' and 'Salaar' to his audience. This year, he has already entertained his fans with 'Kalki', and he is poised to appear in a cameo in 'Kannappa' this December. Looking ahead, he has three films lined up for 2025, and he is gearing up for 'Salaar 2' and a new project with Hanu Raghavapudi for 2026. While other leading actors like Tarak, Allu Arjun, and Ram Charan are planning their releases with more time in between, Prabhas is swiftly producing movies, especially pan-India films, which is astonishing to everyone in the industry. Prabhas races to lead! The makers have officially announced that Prabhas's upcoming film 'Raja Saab' will be a summer treat in 2025, releasing globally in five languages (Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi) on April 10. However, many major films have already entered the 2025 summer race. Naga Chaitanya's 'Thandel' and a multistarrer featuring Nagarjuna and Dhanush titled 'Kubera' are planned for next summer. Additionally, 'Toxic' starring Yash of 'KGF' fame and 'Sikandar' featuring Salman Khan are also targeting the summer of 2025. With Prabhas's film date locked, it's intriguing to see if these films will stick to their summer release plans or if they will adjust their schedules.
