Swag Movie Review: Sree Vishnu Shines Amidst a Confusing Narrative
Swag Movie Review: Sree Vishnu Shines Amidst a Confusing Narrative
Cast: Sree Vishnu, Ritu Sharma, Daksha Nagarkar, Meera Jasmine, Sunil, Getup Srinu, Ravi Babu, Gopiraju Raman, Sharanya Pradeep, and others Written and Directed by: Hasith Goli Music by: Vivek Sagar Cinematography: Vedaraman Shankaran Editing by: Viplav Producer: T.G. Viswaprasad Release Date: October 4, 2024 After the super hit 'Raja Raja Chora', Sree Vishnu stars in the latest film 'Swag', directed by Hasith Goli. Featuring Ritu Varma, Meera Jasmine, and Daksha Nagarkar as the female leads, the already released trailers, teasers, and promotional images have heightened expectations. Released to audiences on October 4, did this film manage to impress? Did the Sree Vishnu-Hasith Goli combo deliver another hit? Let’s find out in this review. Plot The story of 'Swag' revolves around a lineage during the 1550s, a time marked by struggles for dominance between men and women. Bhavabhuti Maharaj (Sree Vishnu) devises a plan to confine his queen (Ritu Varma) and succeeds, subsequently bringing all the women in the kingdom under his control. As time progresses, Bhavabhuti's lineage continues with only daughters until twin boys are born. Bhavabhuti decides to gift one of his sons to his friend (Sunil), who has no sons. The lineage becomes dispersed over time. Cut to the present, the fortune belonging to the Swaganika lineage is securely kept, waiting to be passed to the rightful heir. Several claimants arrive, declaring themselves the descendants. Who are they really? Does the fortune find its rightful owner? To know more, one must watch the movie. Performances Young actor Sree Vishnu dazzles with his performance, portraying five roles including Bhavabhuti Maharaj, Yabhuti, Bhavabhuti, Vibhuti, and Singa. He connects emotionally with the audience as Yabhuti and entertains as Bhavabhuti. Ritu Varma impresses with her performance. Meera Jasmine, making her re-entry into Telugu cinema after 11 years, adequately delivers her role. Daksha Nagarkar marks her presence with her glamour, though her role lacks depth. Despite the presence of seasoned actors like Ravi Babu and Sunil, their roles do not stand out as the film primarily revolves around Sree Vishnu. The rest of the cast performed adequately. Direction Director Hasith Goli chose an interesting point for the film but the execution appears quite chaotic. The first half of the film leaves the audience puzzled for about 40 minutes until the comedy provides some relief. The director interestingly showcases Bhavabhuti's flashback and leads into the story well. The interval block may seem a bit messy but is passable. The first half overall can be described as average. Coming to the second half, the way Yabhuti's flashback is designed impresses the audience. Some double-meaning dialogues manage to evoke laughter. However, the climax again ends in confusion. The director concludes the film with a line indicating that gender discrimination is a blight on society, but the film feels abruptly ended, leaving a sense of incompleteness. The screenplay is quite confusing and demands full attention to grasp the storyline. Technically On the technical front, Vivek Sagar’s music and background score are highlights, adding value to the film. The cinematography is also commendable. Editing is decent, and the production values are high, offering a rich output despite a modest budget. Plus Points - Story - Sree Vishnu’s acting - Comedy Minus Points - Confusing screenplay - Slow narration Rating by Telugu.yousay.tv: 2.5/5

ARM Movie Review: A Gripping Performance but a Predictable Plot.
ARM Movie Review: A Gripping Performance but a Predictable Plot.
Cast: Tovino Thomas, Krithi Shetty, Aishwarya Rajesh, Surabhi Lakshmi, Basil Joseph, Jagadish, Kabir Duhan Singh, and others Director: Jithin Lal Writer: Sujith Nambiar Music: Thibu Ninan Thomas Cinematography: Jomon T. John Editing: Shameer Muhammad Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas has also gained recognition in Telugu cinema. His lead roles in ‘Minnal Murali’ and ‘2018’ have been successful in Telugu as well. His latest film 'ARM' has now been released, featuring Tovino Thomas and Krithi Shetty in lead roles. In Malayalam, the film is titled ‘Ajayante Random Motionam’ (ARM), which translates in Telugu to ‘Ajayan’s Second Theft.’ How did the pan-India release 'ARM' fare? Did it enchant the Telugu audience? Has Tovino Thomas scored another hit? Let’s find out in this review. Plot Ajay (Tovino Thomas) lives a simple life in his village, doing small jobs and living with his mother (Rohini). His grandfather Maniyan (Tovino Thomas) was once a notorious thief, which leads villagers to suspect Ajay whenever a theft occurs. Meanwhile, the Sreebhuthi Lamp (an idol) in the village temple, more valuable than gold, attracts the attention of Sudeva Varma (Harish Uthaman), who plans to steal it and frame Ajay for the theft. However, Ajay’s family has been protecting this lamp for generations. How does Ajay save it this time? What is the history behind the idol? What role does the legendary hero Kunjikelu (Tovino Thomas) play in this history? What about Ajay’s love track with Lakshmi (Krithi Shetty)? You have to watch the movie to find out. Performances Tovino Thomas impressively portrays three different roles. His portrayal as the heroic Kunjikelu, with significant battle scenes, is captivating. His performance as grandfather Maniyan is also commendable, showing great versatility across his roles, from heroic to serene in Ajay’s character. Each character variation highlights his depth in acting. Krithi Shetty delivers a fine performance as Lakshmi, embodying a 90s girl perfectly. Surabhi Lakshmi’s role is engaging, appearing in a dual capacity that adds to the narrative. Rohini and Harish Uthaman’s characters are pivotal to the storyline. Direction Despite being his debut, director Jithin Lal’s execution of a story intertwined across three generations is clear and engaging. The entry of the legendary Kunjikelu accelerates the pace of the film with his heroics and the boon he asks from the king after saving the kingdom, followed by revelations that add intrigue. The portrayal of Maniyan’s character by the director stands out, particularly how he discovers where the lamp is and plans its theft. The confrontational scenes when Maniyan and Ajayan’s paths cross are emotionally powerful. However, other characters lack impact, a weak love track, predictable plot points, and a feeble climax detract from the film. Technically Technically, the film is high-quality. Thibu’s background score and songs add a fresh flair to the film. Jomon T. John’s cinematography is captivating. The editing is adequate, and the production values are high. Plus Points - Tovino Thomas’s acting - Historical backdrop - Music Minus Points - Predictable storyline - Weak climax Telugu.yousay.tv Rating: 3/5

Set in the 1950s, Rana plays a key role in this film directed by Tamil director Selvamani Selvaraj. https://twitter.com/vamsikaka/status/1817427815249133673 https://twitter.com/imwpolitikos/status/1833028992456089818 https://twitter.com/Chrissuccess/status/1832279694118400071 Strong Competition for Tier-2 Heroes! Given Dulquer Salmaan's momentum in Tollywood, it seems inevitable that he will pose strong competition to Tier-2 heroes like Ram, Vijay Deverakonda, Naga Chaitanya, and Nithiin. Film analysts believe that if at least two of his current three projects hit, his stature will significantly rise. With his classic looks and the capability to electrify action sequences, Dulquer is fast becoming a preferred choice for Telugu directors. Heroes suffering from a series of flops, like Naga Chaitanya, Ram, and Vijay Deverakonda, need to be cautious about the competition from Dulquer.

Venkat Prabhu Faces Backlash Over Telugu Audience Criticism After 'The Goat' Underperforms
Venkat Prabhu Faces Backlash Over Telugu Audience Criticism After 'The Goat' Underperforms
The latest film starring Kollywood star hero Vijay, titled 'The Goat' (The Greatest Of All Time), released on September 5 and has been a massive hit in Tamil Nadu, even crossing the Rs. 300 crore mark with impressive overseas collections. However, the film seems to be facing strong resistance in the Telugu and Hindi markets. In this context, the film's director Venkat Prabhu responded, sparking a heated debate on social media. 'That's Why They Didn't Like It' In Telugu and Hindi, 'The Goat' (The Greatest Of All Time) did not meet the expected levels of success. Mythri Movie Makers, a prominent production company, purchased the film for Rs. 22 crores in Telugu, but so far, it has only grossed Rs. 10 crores. Current circumstances suggest that even breaking even may be difficult. Against this backdrop, director Venkat Prabhu took to social media to express his views. He suggested that scenes related to Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni, which were highlights, did not resonate well with Telugu and Hindi audiences, which might be why the film underperformed in these regions. He also accused fans of the IPL teams from Mumbai and Bangalore of excessively trolling his film, attributing this to his known fandom of Chennai Super Kings. Venkat Prabhu's comments have become a hot topic on social media. https://twitter.com/TheAakashavaani/status/1833133203697131918 Telugu Audience Fires Back..! Telugu audiences are strongly criticizing Venkat Prabhu's recent comments. They are posting online that there are other reasons for 'The Goat's disaster performance in Telugu. Comments suggest that if the content is good, they support films irrespective of the industry. They remind the director of the massive success his previous film 'Maanaadu' had in Telugu, indicating that MS Dhoni also has a huge fanbase in the Telugu states, with stadiums filling up in yellow jerseys whenever a CSK match is played in Hyderabad. They are requesting that the actual reasons for 'The Goat's failure be investigated. Reasons for the Flop in Telugu Are These! Director Venkat Prabhu made 'The Goat' with a routine story where Vijay played dual roles as father and son. Despite the terrorism backdrop, it lacked the twists typically seen in agent films. There were no twists or turns in the story, and even the operations conducted by the hero lacked thrill. Additionally, unnecessary songs and Yogi Babu's comedy track tested the patience of the Telugu audience. However, the action sequences and the IPL track in the climax managed to generate some excitement. Dhoni Said No! 'The Goat' featured many cameo roles. Sivakarthikeyan and Trisha appeared as guests, and India's former cricket captain MS Dhoni was also shown during the climax using IPL visuals. Director Venkat Prabhu originally intended to have a scene with Dhoni in the film, but since Dhoni did not agree, they had to resort to using IPL visuals. The 20-minute climax episode captivated cricket lovers immensely. Furious Over Negative Reviews Director Venkat Prabhu responded to the negative reviews of 'The Goat.' "People don't talk about the effort we put into making the film. Some intentionally post negative comments. We included references in the film not found in any other movie, all to celebrate every hero fan. The film wasn't made just for the guest appearances but was crafted to include everything audiences desire. We made this film for the audience, not the reviewers," he stated.

VD12: Exciting News for Vijay Deverakonda Fans.. A First in His Career!
VD12: Exciting News for Vijay Deverakonda Fans.. A First in His Career!
Vijay Deverakonda  is one of Tollywood's most popular young actors who became an overnight star with the film 'Arjun Reddy.' With successes like 'Pelli Choopulu', 'Taxiwaala', and 'Geetha Govindham', he secured a solid position in the Telugu film industry. However, Vijay has been facing a rough patch recently, as his last three films, 'Liger', 'Kushi', and 'Family Star', did not perform well at the box office. This makes his upcoming project, 'VD12', highly anticipated not only by Vijay but also by his fans. Producer Naga Vamshi recently made some interesting remarks about this film, turning it into a hot topic in the industry. In Two Parts... Vijay Deverakonda  is currently working on a film directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, tentatively titled 'VD 12'. Producer Naga Vamshi has spoken about the film, revealing that it will be presented in two parts. "I am not taking any risks with the Vijay Deverakonda  film. We have content sufficient for two parts, and depending on the outcome of the first, we will proceed with the second. Gowtam Tinnanuri has beautifully crafted the story. We are confident it will be a blockbuster," said Naga Vamshi. Interestingly, this is the first time any of Vijay's films are planned as a two-part series, as all his previous films were single installments. If everything goes as planned, fans might get to see sequels in Vijay's career. With 'VD 12' already under high expectations, Naga Vamshi's comments have only heightened the excitement. The Captivating First Look! The makers of 'VD12' recently released the first look poster of the film. In it, Vijay appears in a massive look. The caption intriguingly states, "Fate has called... a bloodbath awaits... a new king will rise." Moreover, the makers have announced that the film is scheduled for release on March 28 next year. They are putting significant effort into delivering a theatrical experience and have requested that leaked content not be shared. In a Dual Role...! The film unit has announced that Vijay Deverakonda  will appear as a powerful police officer in 'VD 12'. A previously released poster in a vague khaki outfit hinted at this role. However, the recently released first look shows Vijay in a local gangster persona, raising questions about whether he might be playing dual roles or if the director is presenting one character in two dimensions. Regardless, Vijay's look promises a mass festivity in theaters. Vijay's Future Projects! Aside from 'VD12', Vijay Deverakonda  has two more exciting projects lined up. After 'Family Star', producer Dil Raju is set to produce another film with Vijay, directed by Ravikiran Kola. Additionally, director Rahul Sankrityan will helm another project with Vijay set against a periodic genre backdrop in the Rayalaseema region, potentially starring Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead.

ANR 100th Birth Anniversary: Celebrating Akkineni Nageswara Rao, the Pioneer of Dance in Tollywood
ANR 100th Birth Anniversary: Celebrating Akkineni Nageswara Rao, the Pioneer of Dance in Tollywood
Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), one of the foundational pillars of Tollywood, needs no special introduction. Recognized as a Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient, Padma Vibhushan, and Natasamrat, he left an indelible mark on the industry. Born on September 20, 1924, as his centenary completes today, fans globally are celebrating his 100th birth anniversary. Although widely known as a legendary actor, not everyone is aware that he was also an excellent dancer. In fact, he was the one who introduced dance to Tollywood, a fact that might be unknown to this generation. Let’s delve into this special report to learn more about it. [toc] The Pioneer of Dance in Tollywood Looking back to the early days of Tollywood, dance was not a primary focus when the industry first began. Leading actors were not keen on dancing; their focus was entirely on how to act and express emotions to captivate the audience. This was particularly noticeable between the 1960s and 1970s. When heroines danced, heroes would often just stand by, a point of criticism at the time. However, Akkineni Nageswara Rao completely changed these dynamics. While many associate Tollywood dance primarily with Megastar Chiranjeevi, it was Nageswara Rao who laid the groundwork for dance in the industry, making it an essential skill for heroes, matching and even excelling alongside heroines in dance. At one point, seeing Nageswara Rao’s dance, contemporaries like Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, Superstar Krishna, Shobhan Babu, and Krishnam Raju also began to emphasize dance in their films. Audiences Mesmerized by Akkineni's Steps! In the 1971 film 'Dasara Bullodu', ANR’s performance in the song ‘Ettage Unnadi Olammi’ was mesmerizing. Similarly, in 'Bangaru Babu', his dance to 'Chengavi Rangu Cheera' electrified audiences who, until then, primarily enjoyed songs for their auditory appeal. Specifically, his dance in 'Prem Nagar' for the song ‘Nenu Puttanu Lokam Navvindi’ became a trendsetter. Additionally, his competitive dance with Sridevi in 'Premabhishekam' for the song 'Ne Kallu Chebuthunnayi' delighted everyone. He also matched steps with Megastar Chiranjeevi in the film 'Mechanic Alludu'. There’s a long list of such performances, some of which are linked below for a glimpse into his prowess. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG_H1fNnWJA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWhPlHc0yoU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTt-kp2Lndc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA_uVs7H7G0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_p90nJNsB8 Inspired by Nageswara Rao... Even Megastar Chiranjeevi, known for his dance, was inspired by Nageswara Rao at one point. It’s said that Chiru enhanced the importance of dance in films after watching Nageswara Rao’s movies. In an event, Chiranjeevi made interesting remarks about ANR's influence, noting that after watching Chiru’s dance, one might wonder if his body actually had any bones at all. Over the decades, as Chiranjeevi became a peerless hero in acting and dancing, he carried forward the legacy initiated by Nageswara Rao, which now continues with stars like Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, NTR, and Ram Pothineni. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFTIlMls-98 Interesting Post by Balakrishna On the occasion of ANR's 100th birth anniversary, actor Balakrishna posted a touching tribute, expressing pride in remembering Nageswara Rao. He noted that ANR's iconic roles and invaluable contributions to Telugu cinema are unforgettable and serve as a guiding light to all actors. Balakrishna urged everyone to express their gratitude for the immense services ANR provided to the film industry, from theater to cinema. His journey is an inspiration to all.
