‘Adiparvam’ Movie Review: Manchu Lakshmi Shines in a Gritty Fantasy Drama—But Does It Live Up to Expectations?
Cast: Manchu Lakshmi, Aditya Om, Esther Norhana, Suhasini, Srijita Ghosh, Shiva Kanthamneni, Venkat Kiran, Satya Prakash, Sammeta Gandhi, Gemini Suresh, Delhi Rajeshwari, Harry Josh, Jabardasth Gaddam Naveen, and others.
Written and Directed by: Sanjeev Megoti
Music: Madhavi Saib
Cinematography: S.N. Harish
Editing: Pavan Shekhar Pasupuleti
Production Companies: Anvika Arts, AI (America India) Entertainment
Movies like ‘Ammoru’ and ‘Arundhati’ set a high bar in the Telugu fantasy genre. Since Arundhati, there hasn’t been a fantasy drama with a similar impact in Tollywood. Now, 'Adiparvam,' starring Manchu Lakshmi and directed by Sanjeev Megoti, steps into that genre. With Aditya Om, Ester, and Suhasini in key roles, the film has just been released. Let’s see if ‘Adiparvam’ meets the expectations and if Manchu Lakshmi has delivered a memorable performance.
Plot
Locals near the Erragudi temple in Kadapa believe hidden treasures lie within it. They think that whoever claims these treasures will become the wealthiest person in Rayalaseema. Nagamma (Manchu Lakshmi), an MLA, is determined to acquire it by any means, even turning to dark powers. Meanwhile, Rayappa, a village elder, also wants the treasure. How far will Rayappa and Nagamma go to obtain this wealth? Why does Rayappa want to sacrifice his own daughter Bujamma (Srijita)? Why does Nagamma want her dead too? How does the village deity Maremma (Suhasini) intervene to stop their wicked ways? Does Nagamma ultimately fulfill her desire for the treasure? And what happens to the love story of Bujamma and Srinu (Venkat Kiran)? This is the crux of the story.
Performance
Direction
Sanjeev Megoti based this movie on real events that occurred between 1974 and 1990. The story highlights the extremes people go to for personal gain, even contemplating the sacrifice of their own children. The sequences showing the consequences faced by the selfish characters pursuing the treasure are captivating. The portrayal of Maremma’s protection of the sacred treasure and her support for the faithful are well-executed. The conflict between divine and dark powers is engaging, and the director also depicts the love story of Bujamma and Srinu well. However, the predictable storyline, exaggerated drama, and lack of quality in the graphics weaken the movie.
Technical Aspects
On the technical side (Adiparvam Movie Review), the cinematography by Harish is commendable, with well-captured visuals. The music adds depth, with the background score enhancing scenes significantly. The editing could have been tighter, especially in the first half, and the graphics quality could have been better. The production values are strong.
Positives
- Manchu Lakshmi’s performance
- Battle between divine and evil powers
- Cinematography
Negatives
- Predictable storyline
- Low-quality graphics
- Slow-paced scenes

ARM Movie Review: A Gripping Performance but a Predictable Plot.
Cast: Tovino Thomas, Krithi Shetty, Aishwarya Rajesh, Surabhi Lakshmi, Basil Joseph, Jagadish, Kabir Duhan Singh, and others
Director: Jithin Lal
Writer: Sujith Nambiar
Music: Thibu Ninan Thomas
Cinematography: Jomon T. John
Editing: Shameer Muhammad
Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas has also gained recognition in Telugu cinema. His lead roles in ‘Minnal Murali’ and ‘2018’ have been successful in Telugu as well. His latest film 'ARM' has now been released, featuring Tovino Thomas and Krithi Shetty in lead roles. In Malayalam, the film is titled ‘Ajayante Random Motionam’ (ARM), which translates in Telugu to ‘Ajayan’s Second Theft.’ How did the pan-India release 'ARM' fare? Did it enchant the Telugu audience? Has Tovino Thomas scored another hit? Let’s find out in this review.
Plot
Ajay (Tovino Thomas) lives a simple life in his village, doing small jobs and living with his mother (Rohini). His grandfather Maniyan (Tovino Thomas) was once a notorious thief, which leads villagers to suspect Ajay whenever a theft occurs. Meanwhile, the Sreebhuthi Lamp (an idol) in the village temple, more valuable than gold, attracts the attention of Sudeva Varma (Harish Uthaman), who plans to steal it and frame Ajay for the theft. However, Ajay’s family has been protecting this lamp for generations. How does Ajay save it this time? What is the history behind the idol? What role does the legendary hero Kunjikelu (Tovino Thomas) play in this history? What about Ajay’s love track with Lakshmi (Krithi Shetty)? You have to watch the movie to find out.
Performances
Tovino Thomas impressively portrays three different roles. His portrayal as the heroic Kunjikelu, with significant battle scenes, is captivating. His performance as grandfather Maniyan is also commendable, showing great versatility across his roles, from heroic to serene in Ajay’s character. Each character variation highlights his depth in acting. Krithi Shetty delivers a fine performance as Lakshmi, embodying a 90s girl perfectly. Surabhi Lakshmi’s role is engaging, appearing in a dual capacity that adds to the narrative. Rohini and Harish Uthaman’s characters are pivotal to the storyline.
Direction
Despite being his debut, director Jithin Lal’s execution of a story intertwined across three generations is clear and engaging. The entry of the legendary Kunjikelu accelerates the pace of the film with his heroics and the boon he asks from the king after saving the kingdom, followed by revelations that add intrigue. The portrayal of Maniyan’s character by the director stands out, particularly how he discovers where the lamp is and plans its theft. The confrontational scenes when Maniyan and Ajayan’s paths cross are emotionally powerful. However, other characters lack impact, a weak love track, predictable plot points, and a feeble climax detract from the film.
Technically
Technically, the film is high-quality. Thibu’s background score and songs add a fresh flair to the film. Jomon T. John’s cinematography is captivating. The editing is adequate, and the production values are high.
Plus Points
- Tovino Thomas’s acting
- Historical backdrop
- Music
Minus Points
- Predictable storyline
- Weak climax

Sasimadhanam Review: Watch out for fun Love Story
Cast: Pavan Sidhu, Soniya Singh, Roopa lakshmi, Pradeep Raparthi, Krithika, Ashok Chandra
Director: Winod Gali
Music Director: Sinjit Yerramilli
Cinematography: Rehan Shaikh
Editor: Anil Kumar P
Producers: Harish Kohirkar
Release Date: July 4, 2024
OTT Platform: ETV Win
The latest Telugu romantic love drama web series, "Sasimadhanam," has premiered on the popular OTT platform ETV Win starting July 4. The main roles are played by Pavan Sidhu and Soniya Singh, who have previously starred together in several short films and are rumored to be a couple in real life. How does the series fare? How captivating is their chemistry? Let's find out in this review.
What's the Story?
Madan (Pavan Sidhu) from Warangal lives with his brother's family and earns money through betting. He falls in love with Sasi (Soniya Singh) from Hyderabad. After losing a significant amount of money in betting, Madan encounters difficulties. When he learns that Sasi's family will be away for ten days for a wedding, he decides to visit her. However, on the night he arrives, the wedding is canceled, and her family unexpectedly returns. How did Madan manage to evade Sasi's family? What challenges did he encounter? How did he interfere with Sasi's arranged marriage prospects? Did Sasi's family eventually accept their marriage? These questions form the crux of the series plot.
Performances
The acting of Soniya Singh and Pavan Sidhu is a major highlight of the series. Their real-life relationship adds an authentic touch to their on-screen chemistry. They both delivered charming performances. Pradeep, who plays Sasi's father, excels with his comedic timing, while Ashok Chandra adds an emotional touch in the grandfather role. Keshav Deepak, as Madan's brother, and Roopa Lakshmi, as the family matriarch, among others, effectively contribute to the series.
Direction
Director Winod Gali successfully crafted a charming love story series, diverging from the usual bold suspense thrillers. Although the plot is conventional, he managed to keep it captivating. The intrigue surrounding what happens next, especially after the hero becomes trapped in the heroine's house, holds the audience's attention. The comedic tension that emerges as Madan attempts to hide with Sasi's assistance adds entertainment value. However, some scenes feel repetitive and the series suffers from a lack of visual variety because it is set in a single location. The screenplay could have been improved.
Technically
Musically, Sinjit Yerramilli did well, especially with two songs that stand out. The background score is adequate. The cinematography is also good, providing fresh visuals suitable for a love story. The production values are high.
Plus Points
- Acting by Siddhu and Soniya
- Confusion comedy
- Music
Minus Points
- Routine story
- The secondary love track
- Some boring scenes

Celebrating Naga Chaitanya: 38 Fascinating Facts About the Akkineni Star on His Birthday!
Among Tollywood’s star heroes, Akkineni Naga Chaitanya holds a special place. As the heir to Akkineni Nagarjuna, he has carved a unique identity for himself in the industry. With solid hits, he has earned a reputation as a talented actor, endearing himself to Telugu audiences with his boy-next-door charm. Today (November 23), Naga Chaitanya celebrates his birthday, stepping into his 38th year. Let’s uncover some secrets about Chay’s personal life on this special day.
Naga Chaitanya comes from a distinguished family background that’s unparalleled in the Telugu film industry. He is a proud heir to the Akkineni and Daggubati legacies.
He was born on November 23, 1986, in Hyderabad to Akkineni Nagarjuna and Lakshmi (daughter of D. Ramanaidu and sister of Venkatesh).
When Chaitanya was young, his parents separated, and he grew up with his mother in Chennai. He completed his schooling at PSBB School in Chennai before moving to Hyderabad.
In Hyderabad, he studied commerce at St. Mary’s College. Chay has mentioned in interviews that he was never brilliant in academics, describing himself as an average student.
At 38, Naga Chaitanya (HBD Akkineni Naga Chaitanya) looks incredibly fit and doesn’t show his age. However, during his teenage years, he weighed around 98 kilograms and was quite chubby.
Because of his weight, he was often teased and called "Dumbu" by people around him. Interestingly, the Daggubati family, rather than the Akkineni side, reportedly pampered him a lot.
Becoming a hero wasn’t a childhood dream for Naga Chaitanya. Even during his degree days, he lacked clarity about his career. His interest in films grew as he accompanied his father to film shoots.
When he expressed his desire to enter films, Nagarjuna supported him, reportedly advising him to lose weight first.
Taking his father’s advice seriously, Naga Chaitanya focused on fitness and lost significant weight. He also trained for 18 months at an acting school in California.
Thus, in 2009, Naga Chaitanya (HBD Akkineni Naga Chaitanya) made his debut with "Josh." His career took a turn for the better with "Ye Maaya Chesave," which became a landmark film for him.
Naga Chaitanya is known for staying away from social media, making him one of the least active Telugu actors online. Initially, he even avoided mainstream media interviews.
He often says that sharing on social media compromises privacy. Chay firmly believes in keeping his personal life private.
Though he appears soft and calm, Naga Chaitanya loves racing. He skillfully handles high-speed bikes and cars.
Initially, he aspired to be a racer and even participated in a few competitions, according to his close friends. However, he eventually gave up on this dream for various reasons.
Even though he didn’t become a professional racer, Chay still considers himself a racer. Collecting racing cars has become a passion for him, and he enjoys high-speed drives in his leisure time.
Currently, his garage houses speed monsters like Ferrari, Nissan GT-R, Porsche Panamera, Porsche Cayenne, and Range Rover Vogue. He also owns racing bikes like MV Agusta and BMW.
Fitness is a priority for Chay (HBD Akkineni Naga Chaitanya). He regularly works out and has set up a home gym to stay in shape.
Chay is known for being reserved. His friends often say that anyone who spends a few minutes talking to him can sense this quality.
Chay has very few friends in the industry. His best friend is actor Daggubati Rana, with whom he shares a bond that transcends family ties.
Rana once mentioned in an interview that he nicknamed Chay "Sweet Kid" because of his kind nature and personality, adding that anyone would like Chay.
When it comes to food, Naga Chaitanya loves butter chicken. He ensures it’s on his plate at least twice a week.
Naga Chaitanya (HBD Akkineni Naga Chaitanya) has a favorite phrase, though it’s hard to notice unless you pay attention. That phrase is "You know."
During his teenage years, Naga Chaitanya reportedly had a crush on a Bollywood actress. She’s none other than Katrina Kaif.
After dating actress Samantha for seven years, Chay married her in October 2017. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce in 2021 due to unavoidable reasons.
Naga Chaitanya got engaged to actress Sobhita Dhulipala on August 8, 2024. Their grand wedding is scheduled for December.
On the work front, Chay is set to collaborate with "Virupaksha" director Karthik Dandu for an upcoming project. On his birthday (November 23), a poster for this movie was released.
https://twitter.com/chay_akkineni/status/1860218199587062221
Titled "NC 24" as a working title, the film will be produced by B.V.S.N. Prasad and co-produced by director Sukumar.

Directed by Pradeep Maddali, Megha Akash plays the female lead in this series. Shiju Abdul Rasheed, Raghu Kunche, Amit Tiwari, Mukhtar Khan, and Tarak Ponnappa play key roles in this series that has recently debuted on Zee5. Let's find out how this series is and whether it captivated the OTT audience in this review.
The Story
The series is set in the 1970s. Ramakrishna (Naresh Agastya) is a renowned detective known for solving complex cases with his intelligence, often assisting the police with pending cases. Meanwhile, people who visit the Hill of Deities in Amargiri village tend to forget their past, believed to be due to a curse by the goddess. A professor, aware of Ramakrishna's detective skills, challenges him to uncover the mystery of the Hill of Deities. What did Ramakrishna find out when he went to the Hill of Deities? Why did Lakshmi (Megha Akash), the granddaughter of the ruler of the Amargiri estate, go with him? How did their acquaintance occur? What is the curse, and did Ramakrishna resolve it?
Performance Review
Naresh Agastya has impressed as detective Ramakrishna, delivering a settled performance. He has perfected his looks and dialogues, bringing substantial weight to his character with his body language. Megha Akash has played a significant role with finesse, effectively expressing emotions. Raghu Kunche, Shiju Abdul Rasheed, Mukhtar Khan, Ashok Kumar, and Amit Tiwari fit well into their regular roles, with Tarak Ponnappa playing a crucial role. Other cast members have performed to the best of their abilities within their roles.
Direction Review
Director Pradeep Maddali has successfully led the series to maintain intrigue throughout. His screenplay especially thrills the audience, keeping them engaged without deviating from the storyline. Every character in the story serves a purpose, and their design enhances the thrilling element. While the twists are somewhat predictable, they still engage the audience. However, some scenes could have been depicted more robustly, and at times, the narrative seems to slow down. A few elevation shots could have been better executed to take the series to the next level.
Technically Speaking...
The technical departments of the series (Vikkatakavi Web Series Review) have performed well. Given the periodic backdrop, the art department excellently recreated the setups and dressing styles of the era. The cinematography effectively transports the audience back in time, and the background music is appealing. The production values are high.

Priyanka Mohan was born on November 20, 1995, in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, where she also completed her education, earning a degree in Biological Engineering.

She clarified that her first Kannada film was 'Ondu Kathe Hella,' but she didn’t tell her family she was making the film.
After its release, her family was shocked to see Priyanka in the film but didn't say a word and instead encouraged her.
Despite her interest in acting, Priyanka never thought about entering films; she dreamed of securing a good job.
If she hadn’t entered the industry, Priyanka mentioned she would have been working in a reputable corporate firm by now.
Priyanka made her Telugu debut with 'Gang Leaders.' On her first day of shooting, seeing veteran actors like Lakshmi and Saranya made her very nervous.
She questioned her worthiness of acting with such accomplished actors and directly asked the director Vikram if he had made a hasty decision in casting her.
From a young age, Priyanka admired Suriya. She was thrilled to get a chance to act with him in 'ET.' After shooting, when Suriya sent her a gift, she excitedly posted it on Instagram.

She emphasized that her day must start with a cup of coffee; without it, her day doesn't start at all.
Priyanka tries to be the same off-screen as she appears in films, preferring traditional roles over glamorous ones.
In Telugu, she has acted in 'Gang Leader,' 'Sreekaram,' and recently in Saripodhaa Sanivaaram,' and is currently acting with Pawan in 'OG.'
In Tamil, she has worked with Sivakarthikeyan in 'Doctor' and 'Don,' and with Dhanush in 'Captain Miller,' all of which were also dubbed into Telugu.

Samantha is a leading actress in Tollywood, making her debut as a heroine in the 2010 film 'Ye Maaya Chesave' starring Naga Chaitanya. She has starred in super hit films with top stars like Pawan Kalyan, Ram Charan, Mahesh Babu, Jr. NTR, and Allu Arjun, earning her the recognition as Tollywood's number one heroine. However, her life took a tumultuous turn with her divorce from Naga Chaitanya and a rare health condition called myositis. This led her to take a brief break from movies. Recently, as her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya is reportedly ready to remarry actress Sobhita Dhulipala, fans are now hoping that Samantha (Samantha Second Marriage) will also find a new partner. In this context, Samantha has made intriguing remarks about her second marriage, hinting at her thoughts without revealing much. Let’s delve into the details.
She Wants to Be a Mother: Samantha
Samantha's latest spy action thriller 'Citadel: Honey Bunny' has been released on Amazon, where she played a mother who is also a spy, impressing audiences with her action sequences. During an interview with an English media outlet, she was asked about motherhood (Samantha Second Marriage), to which she expressed her continued dream of becoming a mother. She clarified her fondness for being a mother and her desire to experience that feeling, stating that she is waiting for the right time. Samantha mentioned that whenever she talks about wanting to be a mother, people tend to bring up her age, which she doesn’t see as a significant obstacle.
Hinting at a Second Marriage?
It's known that Samantha's ex-husband Naga Chaitanya is set to marry actress Sobhita Dhulipala. Given this, her fans believe she should not remain single and should find someone suitable to marry (Samantha Second Marriage) and be happy in her second innings. There has been a significant amount of requests from fans on this matter, but Samantha has yet to respond. However, her recent comments about wanting to be a mother and waiting for the right time have sparked new excitement among fans, suggesting that she might be open to the idea of remarriage.
Surrogacy on Samantha's Mind?

From Bike Thief to Baba: The Unforgettable Characters of Ali in Puri’s Films
In Puri Jagannadh's films, alongside powerful dialogues and heroism, comedian Ali's characters are also memorable. Puri has created some special roles for Ali in his films, and the comedy tracks associated with these characters have worked well for the films. In this sequence, in 'Double iSmart', Puri has given Ali a special role as 'Boka', a quirky character. The dialogues related to Ali's character in the trailer have captured the audience's attention. Now, let's look at some of the unique roles Ali has played in Puri's past films.
Bike Thief (Idiot)
In the film 'Idiot', a collaboration between Ravi Teja and Puri Jagannadh, which was a sensation at its time, Ali appears as a character who steals bikes. He confuses the police officer Jeeva while transporting a sack of sand from Hyderabad to Bidar on a bike. He repeatedly tells the police that he is taking the sand to spread in Bidar, leaving them puzzled about why he is taking it so far. The audience and the police remain confused until it is finally revealed that Ali himself is committing the bike thefts.
Sketch Artist (Super)
In 'Super', directed by Puri Jagannadh starring Nagarjuna, Ali plays the role of John Abraham, a skilled artist who can quickly sketch anyone he sees. On one occasion, he sees the hero whom the police are searching for, leading the police to follow him. The lie detector scene involving Brahmanandam and Ali in this context is unforgettable.
Beggar (Pokiri)
In 'Pokiri', another successful collaboration between Mahesh Babu and Puri, Ali plays a beggar. His interactions with Brahmanandam, who hurts his ego, lead to hilarious scenes involving a group of beggars following him. The comedy scenes between Ali and Brahmanandam played a significant role in the film's success.
Himalaya Baba (Desamuduru)
In 'Desamuduru', starring Allu Arjun, Ali appears as a Baba performing penance in the Himalayas. He gradually reveals why he became a Baba, creating excitement among the audience. Every scene feels like a climax, eliciting laughter. The scenes related to this character still have a following among the audience.
Goli (Devudu Chesina Manushulu)
In this film, also a collaboration between Ravi Teja and Puri, Ali plays an unusual character named Goli, who excessively worships as the son of the goddess Lakshmi. Although Lakshmi Devi (Kovai Sarala) tries to help him by giving him opportunities, his foolishness turns them into comedic situations. Despite the film being a disaster at the box office, Ali's performance as Goli was highly entertaining.
Nachimi (Chirutha)
In 'Chirutha', the debut film of Mega Power Star Ram Charan, Ali plays a peculiar role as Nachimi. His character and attire brought copious laughter to the audience. This role stood out distinctly from his previous characters. Even today, if Ali appears on television as Nachimi, it guarantees laughter.
Boka (Double iSmart)
In the upcoming 'Double iSmart', featuring Ram Pothineni and directed by Puri, Ali will appear as Boka, a character resembling a forest man. His performance in the trailer has already won over the audience, and posts suggest that this role will definitely be a highlight. Ali recently revealed in an interview how this character came about: during the shooting of 'Billa' in Malaysia, he demonstrated to Prabhas what it would be like if a chimpanzee were their manager, which entertained everyone for about an hour and a half. After sharing this idea over the phone with Puri, it was decided to incorporate this track into one of the films. Thus, the character of Boka from the Amazon forest was developed, and Ali completed shooting for this role in just three days.

Bahishkarana Series Review: Anjali's Riveting Portrayal in a Tale of Love and Revenge
Cast: Anjali, Ananya Nagalla, Chaitanya Sagiraju, Ravindra Vijay, Shanmukh, Mahaboob Basha, Sri Tej, Baby Chaitra, Sammeta Gandhi, and others.
Directed by: Mukesh Prajapati
Cinematography: Prasanna S. Kumar
Music by: Siddharth Sadashivuni
Editing: Raviteja Girijala
Producer: Prashant Malishetti
OTT Platform: ZEE5
Release Date: July 19, 2024
Renowned actress Anjali stars as a prostitute in the series 'Bahishkarana,' a rural revenge action drama directed by Mukesh Prajapati. The series also features significant roles by Ravindra Vijay, Ananya Nagalla, Sri Tej, Shanmukh, Mahaboob Basha, and Chaitanya Sagiraju. Promotional materials have already heightened expectations for this series, which premiered on ZEE5 on July 19, consisting of six episodes. Let's delve into the review to see how this web series fares.
Plot
Set in the 1990s in Peddapalli, a village in Guntur district, the story centers around Shivayya (Ravindra Vijay), the authoritarian village president whose influence manipulates the lives of the villagers, especially women. Among them is Pushpa (Anjali), who lives under his control as his concubine. Darshi (Sri Tej), an employee of Shivayya, falls in love with Pushpa and they plan to marry. However, Shivayya, feigning agreement, strategically sabotages their plans and instead marries Darshi to his niece, Lakshmi (Ananya Nagalla). Amidst this chaos, Darshi finds himself wrongly embroiled in a legal case. The unfolding drama explores who framed Darshi, his confrontation with Shivayya, the repercussions he faces, and how Pushpa, with the aid of Lakshmi, seeks revenge against Shivayya. The series delves into these compelling dynamics.
Performances
Anjali is captivating in the role of a prostitute. With her dialogues and mannerisms, she mesmerized the audience. She beautifully portrays the variations of a woman forced into a life she dislikes and struggling for her lover's affection. Anjali also shines in action sequences, particularly impressing in the climax. Sri Tej as Darshi delivers a compelling performance, embodying a young man from the lower strata who cannot tolerate injustice. Ananya Nagalla as Lakshmi offers a natural performance, while Ravindra Vijay as the villainous Shivayya delivers a solid performance, appearing powerful through his dialogues and looks. The rest of the cast adequately fulfill their roles.
Direction
Director Mukesh Prajapati crafts this series as a period revenge action drama. He brings to life the struggle of a prostitute fighting against the injustices done to her lover. The series vividly portrays how caste discriminations dominated rural areas in the past, showing how the upper classes oppressed the lower castes and particularly women. The series touches on delicate issues like caste and untouchability, giving importance to drama and emotions. However, despite a promising concept, the presentation feels routine and the series progresses flatly without significant twists. While the backdrop of prostitution offers a fresh element, the rest of the storyline recalls plots from older films. Some disturbing scenes aside, 'Bahishkarana' consistently entertains.
Technically
On the technical front, cinematographer Prasanna S. Kumar does an excellent job. His camera work effectively transports the audience back to the 1990s. Siddharth Sadashivuni's background score is a significant plus, elevating the action sequences to a higher level. The production values are also notably high.
Plus Points
- Anjali's performance
- Periodic revenge drama
- Background music
Minus Points
- Lack of twists
- Some boring scenes
