Tamil actress Kasthuri's recent comments have caused severe uproar in the Telugu states. During an event organized in Gurumoorthy Nagar in Chennai, she joined the BJP and targeted the DMK and the Karunanidhi family. She remarked that Telugu people, who initially came to serve in the royal courts 300 years ago, are now claiming Tamil identity, questioning who are others to deny Tamil identity to the Brahmins who came here long ago. She suggested that Dravidian ideologists oppose Brahmins merely because they advise against coveting others' wives, and thus, they oppose Sanathana Dharmam. She also claimed that speaking Telugu alone is enough to become ministers in Tamil Nadu, noting that five Telugu ministers are currently in the DMK government.



Impact on Tamil History



One of the prominent dynasties that ruled Tamil Nadu was the Cholas, among whom Kulottunga Chola-I was of Telugu descent. His father was Rajaraja Narendra, a ruler from the Vengi Chalukya dynasty who governed the region between Krishna and Godavari in present-day Andhra Pradesh. Kulottunga Chola’s mother, Ammangaidevi, was a princess in the Chola realm. After her father's death, instability plagued the Chola kingdom, leading Kulottunga to safeguard his grandfather's empire and continue ruling there. His descendants also successfully ruled Tamil Nadu. From 1061-1118, Kulottunga ruled as a Chalukya emperor, but his son Vikrama Chola became a Chola emperor, illustrating that the blood of Telugu Chalukyas was present in him. Historians often state that a Telugu person ruled the great Tamil kingdom of the Cholas, clearly marking the impact of Telugu culture on Tamil history.

The Telugu Name Behind ‘Chennai’



The name of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, comes from a Telugu person. In 1639, Damerla Chennappa Nayakudu, a prince under Venkatapati Nayak, a lord from the Andhra Padmanayaka dynasty, governed the area. The British, under the East India Company, settled there and later renamed the area as Madras. Over time, the area became known as Madras, but locals preferred to call it Chennai Pattinam or Chennapuri. Following local preference, after independence, the name was officially changed to Chennai in August 1996.

Previously, the combined state of Madras, now Tamil Nadu, was united with Andhra Pradesh. Due to Potti Sreeramulu’s hunger strike, Andhra Pradesh was formed as a separate state on October 1, 1953. Telugu people played vital roles in all sectors in the erstwhile Madras state, contributing to its development. From 1925-29, Srikalahasti zamindar Panaganti Ramarayanam served as the president of the Justice Party and Chief Minister of Madras, during which the current Thyagaraya Nagar was established. Between 1932-36, Bobbili Raja, Sri Ramakrishna Ranga Rao, served as the Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency. Rao Bahadur Kurma Venkata Reddy Naidu worked as the Governor of Madras. Even before the split, Prakasam Pantulu, a Telugu person, served as the Chief Minister of the united Madras state. The first three graduates in law from Madras University were Telugu. Thus, Telugu individuals significantly impacted politics, education, medicine, law, and commerce.

Pushparaj (Allu Arjun), who started his journey as a red sandalwood coolie, rises to become the leader controlling a smuggling syndicate. He expands his syndicate's operations internationally and grows powerful enough to influence politics by funding the ruling party. During this time, his rivalry with SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil) intensifies. Despite his aggressive nature outside, Pushparaj never disobeys his wife Srivalli (Rashmika). One day, when Pushparaj sets out to meet the Chief Minister with MP Siddappa (Rao Ramesh), Srivalli eagerly asks him to get a photo with the CM. Performances



Bunny (Allu Arjun) once again excels as Pushpa Raj. He shows even more impact in terms of language and body language. He mesmerizes in fights and dances. Particularly, his acting in the Jatara episode and climax reaches another level. Rashmika as Srivalli delivers a memorable performance with great chemistry alongside Allu Arjun. Compared to the first part, she's given more glamorous scenes in the sequel. Her performance peaks in many scenes. Sreeleela enchants with the "Kissika" song, dazzling with her dance moves as usual. Fahadh Faasil performs well as Shekhawat, though the character loses some seriousness as the story progresses. Rao Ramesh impresses as the MP. Compared to the first part, Sunil and Anasuya's roles get less prominence. Jagapathi Babu as the Central Minister and Kannada actor Tarak Ponnappa make their presence felt in the story. Jagadeesh appears in a key role as Allu Arjun's friend. The rest of the cast performs adequately within their scope.



Direction 



Compared to the first part, director Sukumar has expanded Pushpa Raj's territory further. He has incorporated his trademark psychological elements and mind games into the story. He keeps the audience energized with hero elevations throughout. Allu Arjun's introduction, the Tom and Jerry fight between Pushpa and Shekhawat, and the strategic moves are well portrayed. Though the story seems to move slowly, the interval bang takes it to another level. While showing Pushpa's business and political empires, the director effectively portrays his affection for Srivalli. The love and chemistry between Pushpa and Srivalli appear cute on screen. In the second half, the Gangamma Jatara episode is the highlight of the movie. Sukumar excellently showcases heroism and family emotions in this episode. The fights and family emotions in the climax are entertaining. However, the lack of strong villainy and excessive runtime can be considered drawbacks. In the crucial scenes, Sukumar has laid the groundwork for "Pushpa 3" with a twist and turn.



Technical Aspects 



Technically, the movie is brilliant, with every department delivering excellent work. Devi Sri Prasad impresses with both songs and background score. Another music director, Sam CS, also captures attention with his background score. Kuba's camera work is a major plus for the movie, grandly capturing every episode. Srikant Vissa's dialogues are engaging. The editing could have been more careful. Mythri Movie Makers' production values are top-notch, with richness visible in every scene.

What kind of struggle does Jithender Reddy wage against the Naxalites? How does ABVB robustly counter the deeply entrenched PDSU in educational institutions? Performances



Rakesh Varre fits perfectly into the role of Jithender Reddy, captivating as an RSS volunteer. His acting, especially in scenes intended to inspire the public, is commendable. Compared to his previous films, he has shown significant maturity in acting. Overall, it can be said that Rakesh Varre has put in considerable effort for this film. The actor who played the PDSU leader did well. Subbaraju’s performance as an RSS volunteer and Chatrapathi Shekhar’s role as a Naxalite leader are impressive. The rest of the cast performed adequately within their roles.







Direction



So far, Telugu cinema has portrayed Naxalites from a positive angle. However, for the first time, director Virinchi Varma bravely showcases the dark side of Naxalism. He vividly illustrates how Naxalites obstructed governmental progressive works. He also depicts how Naxalites ruthlessly killed volunteers working for the oppressed classes. The hero's reaction to the atrocities committed by the comrades and his ensuing fight against them is intriguingly captured. The director initially focuses on college politics, then touches on mainstream political angles post-interval. He also attempts to define what a true political leader should be through the character of Jithender Reddy. Overall, the director succeeds in clearly and pointedly conveying his message. However, a slow-paced first half, lack of commercial elements, and a predictable storyline can be seen as drawbacks.







Technically..



Technically, the background score is impressive. Although the songs are somewhat burdensome, one song in the climax touches the heart. The cinematography is good, and the editing work is decent. The production values are high and suitable for the storyline.

The upcoming major pan-Indian film from the Tamil film industry, "Kanguva," has garnered immense interest among viewers. Amid these promotional activities, the film crew received distressing news. The editor of the film, Nishad Yusuf, died under suspicious circumstances, which has deeply disturbed the team. He was found dead in his apartment in Kochi, causing a stir in the cinema community. Nishad, who was actively involved in the editing of the film, died suddenly at 2 AM, confirmed by the police. His body was found lifeless in his apartment in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi. With various suspicions arising, the police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation. Nishad Yusuf had worked on several intriguing films in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam languages, including "Audios Amigos," "Unda," "One," "Petarap," and "Saudi Vellakka," contributing significantly through his editing work. His sudden demise is a significant loss to the film industry. His last project, the massive pan-Indian film "Kanguva," is set to release on November 14. This tragic event has hit the film unit hard, just 15 days before the movie's release.



The team of "Kanguva" has expressed their shock over Nishad Yusuf's death. The hero, Suriya, stated that the news deeply upset him and he prayed for peace for Nishad's soul.







Meanwhile, promotions for the "Kanguva" movie are progressing rapidly in both Tamil and Telugu. Suriya himself is busy with press meets in Telugu. Producer KA Gnanavel shared that while Suriya has dubbed for the Tamil version, AI-assisted dubbing is being used for other languages. The recent release "Vettaiyan" employed AI to alter Amitabh Bachchan’s voice, and now the complete dubbing for "Kanguva" is being done using AI, indicating a successful experiment, as believed by the producer. The film will be released in all major Indian languages as well as in English, French, and Spanish, with release dates for Chinese and Japanese to be announced soon.







With a target of Rs. 1000 crore in collections, "Kanguva" is set for a grand release, as recently stated by producer Gnanavel. The stories for parts 2 and 3 are also ready, and if the first part is successful, plans to produce these sequels will proceed.
