He connects emotionally with the audience as Yabhuti and entertains as Bhavabhuti. Ritu Varma impresses with her performance. Meera Jasmine, making her re-entry into Telugu cinema after 11 years, adequately delivers her role. Daksha Nagarkar marks her presence with her glamour, though her role lacks depth. Despite the presence of seasoned actors like Ravi Babu and Sunil, their roles do not stand out as the film primarily revolves around Sree Vishnu. The rest of the cast performed adequately. Direction Director Hasith Goli chose an interesting point for the film but the execution appears quite chaotic. The first half of the film leaves the audience puzzled for about 40 minutes until the comedy provides some relief. The director interestingly showcases Bhavabhuti's flashback and leads into the story well. The interval block may seem a bit messy but is passable. The first half overall can be described as average. Coming to the second half, the way Yabhuti's flashback is designed impresses the audience. Some double-meaning dialogues manage to evoke laughter. However, the climax again ends in confusion. The director concludes the film with a line indicating that gender discrimination is a blight on society, but the film feels abruptly ended, leaving a sense of incompleteness. The screenplay is quite confusing and demands full attention to grasp the storyline. Technically On the technical front, Vivek Sagar’s music and background score are highlights, adding value to the film. The cinematography is also commendable. Editing is decent, and the production values are high, offering a rich output despite a modest budget. Performances There's no need to specifically mention Tarak's acting; he immerses himself in any role he takes. In this movie, too, he impresses as both Devara and Vara, bringing variations that captivate the audience. He reaffirms his prowess in action scenes and dazzles in dance sequences. Janhvi Kapoor, making her Tollywood debut, fits perfectly as the village girl Thangam, appearing authentic as a Telugu girl, though her screen time is brief. Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan captivates as the villain, making a strong impact in a role that competes with Tarak's. Srikanth, Prakash Raj, Ajay, Murali Sharma, Shruti, and others play significant roles, with other actors performing well within their limits. Direction Director Koratala Siva creates a new world named 'Red Sea' and attempts to weave drama and emotions in his unique style. The first half unfolds the story of the Red Sea, the characters Devara and Bhaira, their transformation into smugglers, their conflicts, songs, and the terror Devara instills, all showcased effectively by Koratala. The interval bang is also excellently planned. While the first half revolves around Devara, the second half introduces Vara. The entry of the second NTR is well-executed, but the story seems stretched afterwards. Janhvi Kapoor’s scenes feel forced, except for a song, and the rest seem tedious. The pre-climax action scenes inside the sea are spectacular, but the climax, while engaging, reminds one of the movie Baahubali. Koratala sets up for a part two, ending Devara's story. However, the second part lacks the impact of the first, with a weak love track, dragged scenes, predictable narrative, and missing the typical Koratala mark being the downsides. Technically On the technical front, all departments have performed well. Anirudh's background music is another major strength of the movie, enhancing the film with his distinctive BGM. The songs are good, with 'Chuttammalle' likely to generate whistles in theatres. Rathnavelu's cinematography is excellent, richly presenting each scene. Editing is decent. The production values are high, sparing no expense. Trailers, teasers, and promotional images significantly raised expectations. The movie was released on August 15th as an Independence Day treat. How was the film? Did it meet expectations? Did Ravi Teja score another hit? Let's find out in this review. What's the Story? Income Tax Officer Mr. Bachchan (Ravi Teja) is an honest man. He becomes the target of wrath from his superiors after raiding a corrupt tobacco trader, leading to his suspension. Afterwards, Mr. Bachchan returns to his hometown, Kotipalli, and falls in love with Jikki (Bhagyashri). Just as he's preparing to marry, he's called back to his job. His next assignment is a raid at the home of MP Muthyam Jaggaiah (Jagapathi Babu), a man even officials fear. How did Bachchan conduct the raid in Jaggaiah’s home? What challenges did he face there? How did Bachchan and Jikki's love affair turn out? How did the elders agree to their marriage? Ultimately, what does Mr. Bachchan achieve? This is the rest of the story. How Did They Perform? Ravi Teja appears very powerful as Mr. Bachchan, dazzling with his unique style of comedy and reminiscent of the Ravi Teja of the past. He marked his presence in both action sequences and emotional scenes, showing versatility adapted to the situations. Bhagyashri Borse charmed with her glamor, especially shining in the songs. Jagapathi Babu fully justified his role as the antagonist. Comedian Satya entertained with his comedy, especially in the first half. Sachin Khedekar, Tanikella Bharani, Gautami, and Praveen also performed well in their respective roles, fitting perfectly within their character limits. How's the Direction? Director Harish Shankar attempted to show through this film the benefits to society when an Income Tax Officer works with integrity. He well-crafted the character of Mr. Bachchan and its related scenes. The love track between Ravi Teja and Bhagyashri Borse was a strong point of the movie. It played a crucial role in engaging the audience in the first half, along with Satya’s comedy. The climax leading up to the raid on Muthyam Jaggaiah's house and the subsequent action-packed scenes turned the narrative engaging. However, the magic of Harish’s direction faded somewhat in the second half. The entire second half revolving solely around the IT raid lessened the intrigue. A more interesting build-up between the hero and the villain's mind games would have been advantageous. A stronger portrayal of the villain’s role could have elevated the film to another level. Technically Technically, Mickey J. Meyer was the first hero for this film, providing catchy tunes suitable for the narrative. Songs like "Reppalu Dappulu," "Jikki," "Sitara," and "Nallanchu Tella Cheera" were a feast for both ears and eyes. Ayananka Bose's cinematographer was captivating. The production values were high. Performances Ashwin Babu delivers a remarkable performance in the role of Chandu, showcasing great versatility across two dimensions. Digangana Suryavanshi captivates the audience as Shailaja. The chemistry between Ashwin and Digangana is effectively established. Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan impresses in his role as a police officer, and comedian Hyper Aadi elicits laughter with his impeccable timing. Seasoned actors Brahmanandam and Murali Sharma mesmerize with their performances, while other actors adequately fulfill their roles. Direction Director Abdul Apsar Hussain commendable intertwines mystery and devotional elements. Some suspense scenes in this crime drama are quite engaging. The storyline woven around international espionage also pleases, though the screenplay falters at times. The narrative could have been presented more effectively on screen. The subplot involving murders seems rather weak. Chandu's character could have been made more powerful. Some scenes lack logical coherence. The slow pace of the story and a lack of engaging elements in the first half are drawbacks. Unrelated scenes test the audience's patience. Technically On the technical front, Dasarathi Shivendra’s cinematography is impressive. He beautifully presents key scenes, especially in the second half. Vikas Badisa’s music is decent. Chota K. Prasad’s editing is also commendable. The production values are high.
