Underrated Telugu Movies: Despite Good Stories, These Films Failed Miserably at the Box Office!
Underrated Telugu Movies: Despite Good Stories, These Films Failed Miserably at the Box Office!
Typically, the story holds primary importance for any film. Without good content, even the biggest stars can't guarantee a movie's success. However, some films in Tollywood remain a mystery to this day. Despite having amazing stories and star heroes, these films unexpectedly faced failures, leading to losses for the producers who had high hopes for them. Let's look at some of those Telugu films that came with great stories but didn't do well. Orange Directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar and starring Ramcharan, 'Orange' was a unique concept film that bombed disastrously at the box office. The reason behind its failure remains a mystery. Recently, the film was re-released, and it received a special response from the audience. Film lovers say that 'Orange' was not meant for those times and would have been a blockbuster if it were released now. Awe! Directed by Prasanth Varma of Hanu Man fame, 'Awe!' presents a novel story that offers a unique experience. Many viewers commented online that it would have been great to watch this film in theaters. The concept revolves around Kali, a girl suffering from multiple personality disorder, who creates a character for every feeling she experiences, attempting to communicate her emotions through them. Despite being an exceptional movie, it did not succeed commercially. C/o Kancharapalem Released without much expectation, 'C/o Kancharapalem' garnered an unexpected response from the audience. However, more people watched this movie on OTT platforms than in theaters. The film is a collection of four love stories that begin in Kancharapalem, showing how these stories turn the lives of the couples involved. Directed by Venkatesh Maha, the film touches the heart deeply. Ante Sundaraniki Starring Nani and Nazriya as the leads, and directed by the distinctive director Vivek Athreya, 'Ante Sundaraniki' connected well with the audience. The story is about Sundar (Nani), a Brahmin boy who falls in love with Leela (Nazriya Nazim) from another religion. They lie to their families for marriage, leading to complications. Despite Nani's different performance compared to his previous films, this movie did not achieve commercial success. Appatlo Okadundevadu Starring Nara Rohit and Sree Vishnu, 'Appatlo Okadundevadu' is a heart-touching film with a compelling story. It narrates the journey of a young man dreaming of becoming a cricketer, who gets embroiled in a criminal case and faces trouble from a police officer, who eventually helps him. The climax twist is sure to bring tears to the audience's eyes. Yet, this film resulted in losses at the box office. Karma 'Adivi Sesh's debut film 'Karma' failed at the box office but scored high TRP ratings during its television premieres. The hero in this movie possesses supernatural powers. 1: Nenokkadine Directed by Sukumar and starring Mahesh Babu, '1: Nenokkadine' left the audience confused. By the time people understood the movie, it had already been declared a disaster. The story revolves around a man with a traumatic past, haunted by certain thoughts, leading to unexpected twists in his life. Interestingly, this film gained appreciation after being telecasted on TV. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi 'Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi' brings a smile just by mentioning its name. It's a movie many want to rewatch multiple times, especially after its OTT release, as it didn't receive much attention in theaters. The film, trending on OTT, is frequently watched during boring times, with characters that everyone can connect with. Vedam Starring Allu Arjun, Manchu Manoj, and Anushka Shetty, 'Vedam' is considered a feel-good movie by those who watched it. However, commercially, it was a flop. Directed by Krish, the film did not receive financial success, leaving the producers in loss. Khaleja 'Khaleja' had all the elements needed for a hit - star heroes and heroines, a strong story, good music, and excellent direction, yet it failed. Viewers wonder why this movie flopped even after watching it on TV. The story is about a village plagued by an unknown disease, leading to many deaths, where the villagers believe a deity will save them. They discover divine powers in cab driver Raju. What happens next is the crux of the story. Republic Starring Sai Dharam Tej and directed by the unique filmmaker Deva Katta, the film "Republic" made its way to the audience. Based on the current social conditions, the director crafted this movie to show how a district collector should support the people. Despite being well-received by viewers, the film did not achieve commercial success. Diving into the story... Abhiram (Sai Dharam Tej), an IAS officer, takes up his duties in his own district. He focuses on the Tellaru reservoir, which has been under political influence for many years. What happened next? How did he sing the swan song to CM Vani's (Ramya Krishnan) illegalities? That forms the crux of the story. Mental Madilo Directed by Vivek Athreya and starring Sree Vishnu, "Mental Madilo" (2017) also mesmerized the audience as a feel-good entertainer. Different from routine love stories, this film connected very well with the youth. Even though the movie was well-made, the producers faced difficulties. At the box office, it did not achieve the expected success. Moving on to the story... A young man without a stable mindset falls in love with two women. Faced with the situation of having to choose between them, what does he do? That is the essence of the story.

HBD Ram Charan: Did You Know the Restrictions Chiru Placed on Ram Charan During His Childhood?
HBD Ram Charan: Did You Know the Restrictions Chiru Placed on Ram Charan During His Childhood?
As the son of Megastar Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan stepped into the industry and carved a unique star status for himself in Tollywood. Making his debut with "Chirutha," Ramcharan went on to score an industry hit with his second film "Magadheera." With "Rangasthalam," he proved his acting prowess, and "RRR" elevated him to a global star status. On the occasion of Charan's birthday, let's delve into some fascinating details about his childhood. Ramcharan was extremely shy in his childhood. He rarely participated in family functions. While Allu Arjun and Allu Sirish danced, he would just watch them and cheer. Today, Ramcharan's dancing skills can be attributed to the talent inherited from Chiru. Interestingly, Charan never took any dance coaching except for acting lessons. It's remarkable how he mastered dancing without formal training. Growing up, Ramcharan wasn't particularly interested in movies, which could partly be due to Chiranjeevi's influence. Chiru made sure that the allure of cinema didn't distract Charan. To ensure Charan focused on his studies, even movie posters were not allowed at home. Chiru granted "cinematic freedom" to his son only after he completed his 10th grade. As for Charan's academic life, he was an average student and never stayed in one school for more than two years. Throughout his childhood to teenage years, Charan frequently changed schools and colleges. In total, he has attended 8 schools and 3 colleges. However, sports, more than studies, captured his interest. He learned horse riding as early as the fourth grade, showcasing his skills in "Magadheera." Chiru was just as strict about bike riding as he was about movies, hence he didn't encourage Charan to pursue bike riding. Charan has a great love for pets and often gifts them to relatives and friends on their birthdays or weddings. Every year, Charan is seen wearing a new spiritual thread, believing it brings peace and discipline into his life. Charan married Upasana, Vice-Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals, in 2012. The couple has a daughter named Klin Kaara. Chiranjeevi's comments on his movies, whether it's about a dance or a fight scene, hold great importance to Charan. After watching "Dhruva," Chiru appreciated Charan for doing justice to his role and character. Watching "Rangasthalam," Charan's mother was moved to tears, making these moments unforgettable for him. To date, Ramcharan has entertained Telugu audiences with 14 diverse films including "Chirutha," "Magadheera," "Orange," "Racha," "Govindudu Andarivadele," "Dhruva," "Rangasthalam," and "RRR." Currently, he is busy with "Game Changer," directed by the renowned director Shankar, which is set to release soon. Charan is also working on a film (#RC16) directed by "Uppena" fame Buchibabu. The film, where he stars opposite Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, recently had its puja ceremony. Furthermore, Charan has officially announced another project, "RC17," with director Sukumar, following the blockbuster success of "Rangasthalam." This collaboration has set high expectations among fans.

Is SSMB29 Mahesh Babu's Career Defining Moment? Discover Why
Is SSMB29 Mahesh Babu's Career Defining Moment? Discover Why
Director Rajamouli is planning to make the upcoming film SSMB29 with superstar Mahesh in Hollywood. The adventure movie, set to be made in cowboy style, is said to include Hollywood technicians as well. It will be shot against the backdrop of African forests at a pan-world level. Although Mahesh Babu's recent film "Guntur Kaaram" received mixed reviews, it landed safely in terms of collections. Global Level Pan-Indian blockbusters such as Baahubali and RRR, directed by Rajamouli, have garnered global acclaim, catapulting Jr. NTR and Ram Charan to international fame. Presently, they are engaged in their respective projects. A notable observation is that while films directed by Rajamouli almost always achieve hit status, the actors' follow-up projects often struggle to replicate that success in the industry Profit or Loss for Mahesh? The trend observed after collaborating with Rajamouli has been quite clear: actors find themselves in a slump, with their next three to four films underperforming. This pattern sparks curiosity about Superstar Mahesh Babu's career choices post-SSMB29, including his selection of director for future projects. These considerations are of significant interest even to the casual fan, as a Rajamouli project promises to elevate Mahesh Babu's global recognition. The decision-making process for Mahesh Babu's subsequent project, SSMB30, is seen as a crucial juncture in his career, given the mixed expectations of profits and challenges that accompany the aftermath of SSMB29. Examining the experiences of Telugu actors who soared to great heights with Rajamouli only to face setbacks thereafter sheds light on this phenomenon. Jr. NTR Rajamouli's inaugural venture, 'Student No.1' starring Jr. NTR, was a major hit, yet the latter's follow-up, 'Subbu,' did not fare well. Their collaboration on 'Simhadri' once again brought significant success, but NTR's subsequent movie 'Andhrawala' was a disappointment at the box office. The pattern continued with 'Yamadonga,' directed by Rajamouli, achieving acclaim, while NTR's next film, 'Kantri,' was poorly received. Following his role in RRR, Tarak has ascended to international fame. Currently, Jr. NTR is working on 'Devara,' directed by Koratala Siva, and the industry is eager to see if this film will break the cycle. Prabhas In 2005, Rajamouli and Prabhas teamed up for "Chatrapathi", which emerged as a blockbuster, a fact well-known across the industry. Unfortunately, Prabhas's follow-up, "Pournami", did not meet expectations and was deemed a failure, much to Prabhas's dismay. Following their initial success, Rajamouli and Prabhas reunited for the monumental "Baahubali" series, which not only set new standards for Tollywood but also catapulted Prabhas to pan-India fame. Despite this, Prabhas's later projects, "Saaho" and "Radhe Shyam", did not live up to the hype and were labeled as disappointments. Ram Charan Prior to "RRR," Rajamouli and Ram Charan collaborated on "Magadheera" in 2009, a movie that shattered numerous box office records. Yet, Ram Charan's subsequent release, "Orange" in 2010, did not achieve similar success. Presently, Ram Charan is involved in a potentially transformative project under the direction of Shankar, and the industry is keenly awaiting the outcome of this movie. Sunil, after collaborating with Rajamouli on "Maryada Ramanna", encountered difficulties in replicating the film's success in his subsequent projects. Likewise, Nani saw a downturn in his career following the release of Rajamouli's "Eega", with his movie "Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu", co-starring Samantha, not performing well at the box office either. Is Mahesh Babu in the Same Situation? This leads to the burning question: Post-SSMB29, will Mahesh Babu follow the same pattern of decline as other prominent Tollywood actors, or will he set a new precedent? The anticipation for SSMB29 is already through the roof. There's buzz that cinematic icons Kamal Haasan and Chiyaan Vikram might join the cast of the Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu venture. Additionally, Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran is rumored to have a significant role. Talks with these stars are currently in progress, potentially elevating SSMB29's expectations even higher. Yet, an official confirmation from Rajamouli remains pending. Worldwide Buzz Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu appears to have transformed his appearance for the upcoming Rajamouli film. A photo of Mahesh Babu showcasing longer hair and a thick beard went viral on social media following a visit from star producer Dil Raju, who was extending a wedding invitation for his son. In this image, as per fans Mahesh looks are comparable to any Hollywood actor. It has also come to light that Mahesh recently traveled to Germany for stunt training. Furthermore, scriptwriter Vijayendra Prasad is said to have completed the screenplay and submitted it to Rajamouli. Starting in April, the production team plans to finalize the selection of cast and crew. The anticipation for this collaboration between Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu is generating buzz on a global scale.

Rajamouli vs Sukumar: Sukumar's Upper Hand in This Aspect Leaves Rajamouli Behind!
Rajamouli vs Sukumar: Sukumar's Upper Hand in This Aspect Leaves Rajamouli Behind!
When it comes to top directors in Tollywood, visionary filmmaker Rajamouli comes to mind first. Through the film RRR, Rajamouli elevated the Telugu film industry's reputation to Oscar-level fame. However, Rajamouli failed in one aspect: transforming his assistant directors into top directors. In this regard, director Sukumar has achieved immense success. Several directors who learned under Sukumar have demonstrated their prowess through hit films. Let's now see who these directors are. Sukumar's Assistant Directors Srikanth Odela Srikanth Odela is currently making waves in Tollywood. With his debut film, Srikanth shattered box office records. His film 'Dasara' starring Nani entered the 100-crore club. Before this film, Srikanth worked as an assistant director under Sukumar. He contributed significantly to the success of the films Nannaku Prematho and Rangasthalam. Sukumar once mentioned that Rangasthalam wouldn't have been such a great success without Srikanth Odela, which speaks to the director's talent. https://telugu.yousay.tv/en/a-story-of-passion-and-patience-srikanth-odelas-four-year-journey-to-work-with-sukumar-and-direct-dasara.html Buchi Babu Sana Buchi Babu is another individual who began as Sukumar's assistant director and later became a successful director. With his first film, Uppena, Buchi Babu created a sensation. He skillfully applied the lessons taught by Sukumar and showed his mark with his very first film. He presented debut hero Vaishnav Tej and heroine Krithi Shetty beautifully on screen. Uppena's massive success led to Buchi Babu getting the chance to direct a film with Ram Charan. Ram Charan himself announced that Buchi Babu would direct his 16th film. Palnati Surya Pratap Emerging from Sukumar's directorial school, Palnati Surya Pratap also managed to secure a significant hit with his debut film. He demonstrated his talent through the film "Kumari 21F". Recently, Surya directed the movie "18 Pages" starring hero Nikhil and heroine Anupama. This classic love story has garnered a good buzz. Surya also worked as a screenwriter for Sukumar's films such as "1: Nenokkadine", "Rangasthalam", and "Pushpa". Rajamouli's Assistant Directors: G.R. Krishna Tollywood director G.R. Krishna initially worked as an assistant director under Rajamouli. He played a vital role in the success of the film "Simhadri". Krishna was introduced as a director with the movie "Aadu Magadra Bujji", but he couldn't achieve success in the expected range. His subsequent film "Iddari Lokam Okate" also failed at the box office. Since 2019, Krishna hasn't been able to helm another film in Tollywood. Karuna Kumar Another Tollywood director, Karuna Kumar, also learned filmmaking under Rajamouli. He went on to direct several films but couldn't make a mark. His debut film "Palasa" received positive talk but failed at the box office. Later, movies like "Metro Kathalu", "Sridevi Soda Center", and "Kalapuram" failed to impress the audience. Ashwin Gangaraju Director Ashwin Gangaraju also worked as an assistant director under Rajamouli. He played a crucial role in the success of "Baahubali-1" and "Baahubali-2". In 2021, Ashwin made his directorial debut with the film "Aakashavaani", but the movie did not perform well. Rajamouli's Heroes and their Flops...! Not only Rajamouli's protégés but also the heroes who have worked with him in movies seem to experience failure in their subsequent films, which is quite surprising. Jr. NTR Rajamouli made his first film 'Student No.1' with Jr. NTR, which became a super hit. However, Jr. NTR's next film 'Subbu' flopped. Rajamouli then made 'Simhadri' with Jr. NTR, which was another massive hit. But after that, Jr. NTR's 'Andhrawala' failed at the box office. Rajamouli directed the film 'Yamadonga' with Jr. NTR, and then his next film 'Kantri' turned out to be a disaster. Prabhas In 2005, Rajamouli made the movie 'Chatrapathi' with Prabhas, which was a huge hit. However, Prabhas' next film 'Pournami' was a flop and left him disappointed. After 'Chatrapathi', Rajamouli made 'Baahubali' and 'Baahubali 2' with Prabhas, which elevated Tollywood's range and made Prabhas a pan-India star. Unfortunately, Prabhas' subsequent films 'Saaho' and 'Radhe Shyam' received flop talk. Ram Charan Before 'RRR', Rajamouli made the movie 'Magadheera' with Ram Charan. Released in 2009, the film shook the silver screen. However, Ram Charan's 2010 film 'Orange' was a major failure. Sunil, who worked with Rajamouli on 'Maryada Ramanna', also faced difficulties finding success after that film. Similarly, Nani experienced a flop after Rajamouli's film 'Eega'. Nani and Samantha's film 'Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu' also failed at the box office."
