Archana Ravichandran, though in a brief appearance, managed to entertain. Muthukumar, Sarjano Khalid, and others performed well, particularly those portraying Buddhist monks who were captivating. Direction R. Ajay Gnanamuthu has crafted part 2 as a continuation of the original 'Demonte Colony' story. The film keeps the audience engaged with twists every half-hour from the start. The director skillfully intertwined two stories by introducing a family not present in the first part. The film not only deals with horror but also includes disputes among brothers and step-sisters, adding a bit of entertainment. Debbie’s efforts to save the twin brothers and the ensuing horror elements are thrilling. The screenplay is quite engaging. The climax along with the scenes linking to a potential third part are surprising. However, weak graphics, some dragging scenes, and the pre-climax could be seen as negatives. Technically On the technical front, the cinematographer did an excellent job by not just sticking to the typical dark mode of regular horror films but presenting it in a colorful manner. Ravi Teja appears very powerful as Mr. Bachchan, dazzling with his unique style of comedy and reminiscent of the Ravi Teja of the past. He marked his presence in both action sequences and emotional scenes, showing versatility adapted to the situations. Bhagyashri Borse charmed with her glamor, especially shining in the songs. Jagapathi Babu fully justified his role as the antagonist. Comedian Satya entertained with his comedy, especially in the first half. Sachin Khedekar, Tanikella Bharani, Gautami, and Praveen also performed well in their respective roles, fitting perfectly within their character limits. How's the Direction? Director Harish Shankar attempted to show through this film the benefits to society when an Income Tax Officer works with integrity. He well-crafted the character of Mr. Bachchan and its related scenes. The love track between Ravi Teja and Bhagyashri Borse was a strong point of the movie. It played a crucial role in engaging the audience in the first half, along with Satya’s comedy. The climax leading up to the raid on Muthyam Jaggaiah's house and the subsequent action-packed scenes turned the narrative engaging. However, the magic of Harish’s direction faded somewhat in the second half. The entire second half revolving solely around the IT raid lessened the intrigue. A more interesting build-up between the hero and the villain's mind games would have been advantageous. A stronger portrayal of the villain’s role could have elevated the film to another level. Technically Technically, Mickey J. Meyer was the first hero for this film, providing catchy tunes suitable for the narrative. Songs like "Reppalu Dappulu," "Jikki," "Sitara," and "Nallanchu Tella Cheera" were a feast for both ears and eyes. Ayananka Bose's cinematographer was captivating. The production values were high. Parvathy Thiruvothu, playing Thangalaan’s wife, was adequate in her role. Malavika Mohanan as Aarathi, the tribal leader, delivered the best performance of her career. Her looks and acting scared the audience and stood next to Vikram in terms of impact. Their action scenes together are particularly thrilling. Other actors performed well within their roles. How's the Direction? The film 'Thangalaan', primarily revolving around a gold hunt, is subtly portrayed by director Pa. Ranjith was a struggle of an oppressed class during the British era, highlighting racial discrimination. The world and characters created by the director transport the audience to a new realm. The people's attire and societal depiction are immersive. The journey of Thangalaan with the British in search of gold, and the challenges they face en route, build suspense. The scenes before the interval raise expectations for the second half, which, however, feels a bit detached as the story progresses. The pre-climax fight between the British, Thangalaan, and the tribal community leads to confusion, blurring the line between Thangalaan's dreams and reality. Yet, the director delivers a satisfying conclusion in the climax by revealing another dimension of Thangalaan's character. Technically Speaking Technically, the film is robust in many aspects. The costumes, makeup, and art departments have outdone themselves for this movie. The music by GV Prakash Kumar also complements the narrative well. The production values are high.
