Performances Hero Raj Tarun has fully immersed himself in the role of Giri. Initially portrayed as an innocent, he later transforms into a lover who fights for his beloved against all odds, showing great variation in two dimensions. Particularly in action sequences, Raj excels, showcasing an intensity never seen before in his career. Malvi Malhotra perfectly embodies Shailaja, making a strong impression in her Telugu film debut. The on-screen chemistry between Raj Tarun and Malvi Malhotra works very well. Second heroine Mannara Chopra also delivers an outstanding performance. John Vijay, Raghubabu, Ankita Thakur, Pragathi, and Raja Raveendra do their roles effectively. Direction Director A.S. Ravi Kumar has crafted this film as a love and action entertainer. The first half smoothly progresses with the introduction of the hero and heroine and their love track, entertaining with comedy arising from Shailaja dominating Giri. Their chemistry ensures that the first half never drags. A twist at the interval heightens interest for the second half, which is filled with hero elevations and action sequences, keeping the audience engaged. However, some scenes might feel boring, and certain fight scenes seem over-the-top for Raj Tarun's persona, lacking logical connection. Emotional scenes also did not resonate as well. Those looking for a solid action entertainer will enjoy "Thiragabadara Saami." Technically... On the technical front, the background music provided by JB is a significant asset, elevating the action sequences to another level. However, the songs are not particularly memorable. The cinematography is also commendable, and the editing is adequate. The production values are high. Performances Vijay delivers a dual role, excelling as Gandhi but the young Vijay’s digitally aged look as Jeevan might feel a bit off, not entirely convincing. Vijay shines again in action sequences and emotional scenes, proving his star quality. Meenakshi Chaudhary as the heroine doesn’t have much of a role, feeling more like a guest appearance. Prashant, Ajmal, and Prabhu Deva as squad members are adequate but not outstanding. Jayaram, as the head of the squad, captivates with his performance. Sneha impresses with her acting as Gandhi’s wife. Tamil youth hero Shiva Karthikeyan makes a mark in a cameo, and Trisha excites in a special song appearance. The rest of the cast performs adequately within their roles. Direction Director Venkat Prabhu’s storyline lacks novelty. The narrative of a hero working in defense and the villain raising his son to turn against him has been seen many times before. However, the scenes detailing the son’s revenge feel engaging. The first half is mostly spent introducing the characters, and the plot progresses as expected until the pre-interval. The interval scene raises curiosity for the second half, which, although predictable, includes some twists that surprise the audience. The comedy and dialogues are deeply rooted in Tamil culture, which might not entirely appeal to the Telugu audience. However, Vijay’s fans will likely find the film quite entertaining. Technically On the technical front, the songs by Yuvan Shankar Raja are forgettable, not leaving a lasting impact. However, the background music enhances the action sequences, elevating them to another level. The graphic department could have done better, especially with Vijay’s de-aging look. What was the cinematic experience like for the audience? Let’s explore in this review. What's the Story? Set during British rule in the 1850s, the story unfolds in a village called Veppur. Thangalaan (Vikram), living with his family, finds himself compelled to join a gold hunt with an Englishman named Clement due to unforeseen circumstances. This journey brings them face to face with bizarre experiences. Thangalaan is haunted by dreams where Aarathi (Malavika Mohanan), a tribal sorceress, uses her supernatural powers to protect the gold. But does she really safeguard the gold? What challenges do Thangalaan and his team face from her? What does Thangalaan learn on this journey? Did he ultimately discover the gold or not? That is the story. How Did They Perform? Vikram, as Thangalaan, was outstanding and made the character unforgettable. His portrayal as a tribal person, with the mannerisms and expressions, captivates everyone. This can be marked as another milestone in Vikram's career. Parvathy Thiruvothu, playing Thangalaan’s wife, was adequate in her role. Malavika Mohanan as Aarathi, the tribal leader, delivered the best performance of her career. Her looks and acting scared the audience and stood next to Vikram in terms of impact. Their action scenes together are particularly thrilling. Other actors performed well within their roles. How's the Direction? The film 'Thangalaan', primarily revolving around a gold hunt, is subtly portrayed by director Pa. Ranjith was a struggle of an oppressed class during the British era, highlighting racial discrimination. The world and characters created by the director transport the audience to a new realm. The people's attire and societal depiction are immersive. The journey of Thangalaan with the British in search of gold, and the challenges they face en route, build suspense. The scenes before the interval raise expectations for the second half, which, however, feels a bit detached as the story progresses. The pre-climax fight between the British, Thangalaan, and the tribal community leads to confusion, blurring the line between Thangalaan's dreams and reality. Yet, the director delivers a satisfying conclusion in the climax by revealing another dimension of Thangalaan's character. Technically Speaking Technically, the film is robust in many aspects. The costumes, makeup, and art departments have outdone themselves for this movie. The music by GV Prakash Kumar also complements the narrative well. The production values are high. Directed by Sam Antone and produced by K.E. Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green Films banner, this action-adventure film was released on August 2.  What's the Story? Aditya Ram (Allu Sirish), a pilot, falls in love with Pallavi (Gayatri Bharadwaj), who works as an air traffic controller in Visakhapatnam, without ever meeting her. Just as they plan to meet, unexpected events unfold. Pallavi gets caught in a medical mafia trap and is kidnapped, falling into a coma. Her spirit enters a teddy bear that Aditya once gifted her. How does her spirit, through the teddy, reunite with Aditya? How does Aditya, with the help of the teddy, retrieve her body from the villains? What did the villain gang plan to do with Pallavi's body? This is the story. How Did They Perform? Allu Sirish delivers a remarkable performance as Aditya. He excels in the action sequences, showing great maturity as an actor in this film. Gayatri Bharadwaj captivates with her glamour, charming the audience every moment she's on screen. Ajmal Amir, as the villain, matches well against Sirish, impressing with his acting. Second heroine Prisha Singh delights as an air hostess. The other actors also performed commendably within their roles. How's the Direction? Director Sam Antone made an effort to craft a unique story with this film. The love track between Allu Sirish and Gayatri Bharadwaj is beautifully executed. The scenes that show their connection despite being physically apart are particularly entertaining for the youth. The film keeps the audience engaged with 'Kalki' and 'Jai Balayya slogans' that add energy. The action sequences involving Buddy and Allu Sirish are enjoyable. However, the director failed to maintain suspense about what happens next, with the scenes being predictable. Some irrelevant comedy scenes caused viewer fatigue. An attempt to inject humor into the crucial climax was unnecessary. Technically... Technically speaking, Hip-hop Tamizha's background music is a strong addition, enhancing the action scenes, although the songs themselves are not very memorable. Krishnan Vasant's cinematographer is commendable. Editor Ruben could have sharpened his cuts a bit more. Better output from the graphics department would have added value to the film. Production values are satisfactory.
