Direction Director Shankar seems to have merely repeated the narrative of Bharateeyudu. He updated an outdated story to fit modern times, focusing the sequel on showcasing how Bharateeyudu would eliminate corruption today. Shankar’s usual flair is missing in the direction.       Over the past two weeks, the only new movie released in theaters is 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Directors and producers have been hesitant to release their films alongside a movie featuring Prabhas, avoiding direct competition. This week we have a few biggies and a small-budget film. Movies Releasing in Theaters Bharateeyudu 2 The duo of Kamal Haasan and director Shankar, who brought us 'Bharateeyudu' about twenty-five years ago, which created a sensation addressing corruption and bribery, are back with a sequel. Titled 'Bharateeyudu 2', the movie is set to hit theaters on July 12. Alongside Kamal, significant roles are played by Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, S.J. Surya, Bobby Simha, Brahmanandam, and Samuthirakani. The already released promos, trailers, and teasers have heightened expectations. Sarangadariya Directed by Padma Rao Abbishetti and starring Raja Ravindra, 'Sarangadariya' is set against the backdrop of struggles within a middle-class family. The film, intended for family viewing, will be released in theaters on July 12. Movies Releasing on OTT Maharaja Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, 'Maharaja' has locked its OTT release date. From July 12, the movie will be available for streaming on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada. This film, marking the 50th in Vijay Sethupathi's career, created a sensation in theaters and achieved remarkable box office success. Those who missed it in theaters are looking forward to its OTT release. Dhoomam Featuring Malayalam actor Fahad Faasil with Aparna Balamurali as the leading lady, 'Dhoomam' is produced by Hombale Films and was released last year with moderate success.       Devara Runtime Sparks Debate: Is Koratala Siva Taking a Risk?
      The movie 'Devara,' directed by Koratala Siva and starring NTR, is being released in two parts. Part 1 is set to release on the 27th of this month. Recently, the censor formalities for 'Devara' were completed, and the movie's runtime has been fixed by the censor board members. The lengthy runtime has sparked new tensions among fans, with comments circulating online questioning if the Devara team is knowingly taking a risk. Let's explore the reasons behind this. Censor Clear The movie 'Devara,' starring Jr. NTR and Bollywood beauty Janhvi Kapoor as the heroine, has completed its censor formalities. The censor board has issued a U/A certificate and fixed the film’s duration at 2 hours and 57 minutes. This means Devara is nearly three hours long, a substantial runtime. However, due to the extensive action sequences and the need to establish the story, the makers have decided on a longer duration. Are They Knowingly Taking a Risk? Film analysts opine that bringing 'Devara' with almost three hours of runtime is a significant risk. Keeping the audience engaged for three hours is not trivial. Any lag in the story or unnecessary scenes could negatively impact the film, as evidenced by several previous releases. Even if the story is compelling, the lengthy runtime has hurt those films. Therefore, there's a warning that even slight miscalculations in 'Devara' could lead to significant setbacks. Some of Tarak's fans are also expressing concerns about the runtime online. Films Hurt by Long Run Times! Recent releases like 'Bharateeyudu2', 'Tiger Nageswara Rao', and 'Ante Sundaraniki' came to the audience with longer durations and received flop talks. Apart from 'Bharateeyudu 2', the other two films had good content but failed to impress due to the extended duration. In 'Tiger Nageswara Rao', even though Ravi Teja delivered a strong performance, the length made it feel dragged. The same happened with 'Ante Sundaraniki', which despite a unique concept about the problems arising in a romance between individuals of different faiths, was criticized for feeling like a serial due to its length. The Burden on Koratala! If Koratala Siva can work his magic as he did in his past films, then the runtime might not be an issue. If he perfectly blends Tarak’s acting with the story, narrative, and production, the runtime of 'Devara' could turn into a big plus. Observing Koratala Siva's previous works like 'Mirchi', 'Bharat Ane Nenu', 'Janatha Garage', and 'Srimanthudu', one can appreciate his directorial skills. He has been successful in creating compelling drama and screenplay around simple storylines. If 'Devara' can repeat this magic, fans have a reason to rejoice. Another fear accompanying 'Devara' is the alleged curse following actors who work with the legendary director Rajamouli, experiencing massive flops in their subsequent films. Megastar Chiranjeevi, who was the chief guest, made some intriguing comments at the event and offered a bumper offer to director Boyapati and other scriptwriters.
