The film 'Kalki 2898 AD,' directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas, has generated global buzz, with predictions of becoming a super hit. It has impressed audiences worldwide with its Hollywood-level visuals and the actors' remarkable transformations. Achieving this success required significant effort from the Kalki team. As the film continues to draw special attention, let's delve into some secrets behind 'Kalki 2898 AD'. 40 years later It is well known that Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan played major roles in 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Amitabh portrayed Ashwatthama and Kamal Haasan as the antagonist Supreme Yashkin. Remarkably, this film marks nearly 40 years since they last acted together, their previous collaboration being the 1985 film 'Geraftaar'. After 4 decades, they have reunited for 'Kalki'. Kamal’s New Getup Kamal Haasan's appearance in 'Kalki 2898 AD' is quite unique and distinct. Numerous looks were considered in the process of finalizing his appearance, none of which initially satisfied director Nag Ashwin. Eventually, the Kalki team consulted Hollywood makeup experts in Los Angeles, leading to the final look that Kamal Haasan sports in the film. 5 hours for Makeup Ashwatthama's look in the movie has also greatly impressed the audience. Amitabh Bachchan, at 81, has brilliantly embodied this character. The makeup for Ashwatthama took about three hours to apply and an additional two hours to remove, totaling five hours dedicated solely to makeup, according to the film unit. ₹4 crores for Bujji The futuristic vehicle 'Bujji', ridden by Prabhas in 'Kalki', was a significant endeavor by the film unit. It was developed with the cooperation of the Mahindra Research Valley team and Jayam Auto Engineering in Coimbatore. Reportedly, around ₹4 crores were spent just on this car. 700 VFX Shots Director Nag Ashwin created three futuristic worlds in 'Kalki': Kashi, Shambala, and a complex. Kashi is depicted as lifeless, Shambala as a refugee zone, and the complex as resource-rich. To showcase these, the film extensively used VFX, employing around 700 VFX shots. Hollywood VFX 'Kalki 2898 AD' is being talked about as a visual wonder, thanks to the involvement of Hollywood-level VFX companies. The VFX team that has worked on major Hollywood films like Harry Potter, Interstellar, Dune, and Blade Runner worked on 'Kalki'. Record-breaking Budget 'Kalki 2898 AD' stands as the film with the highest budget in Indian cinema history, with production costs reportedly exceeding ₹600 crores. According to trade sources, a significant portion of this budget was spent not just on actor salaries and sets, but predominantly on high-quality visuals and advanced VFX. https://telugu.yousay.tv/en/kalki-2898-ad-movie-review-an-epic-sci-fi-saga-starring-prabhas-and-an-ensemble-cast.html

Cast: Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda, Disha Patani, Rana Daggubati, Anna Ben, among others. Written and Directed by: Nag Ashwin Music by: Santhosh Narayanan Editing by: Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao Producers: Ashwini Dutt, Priyanka Dutt, Swapna Dutt Production Company: Vyjayanthi Movies Makers Release Date: June 27, 2024 The film 'Kalki 2898 AD,' directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas, generated worldwide excitement. This high-budget science fiction action movie, also featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, became known as India's most expensive production. With its Hollywood-level trailer and teaser, anticipation skyrocketed following the initial poster release. The movie premiered on June 27. Did 'Kalki 2898 AD' meet the high expectations and give another blockbuster to Prabhas's career? What's the story? The plot of 'Kalki 2898 AD' unfolds from a deceit by Dharmaraja in the Mahabharata. Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), cursed by Krishna during the battle of Kurukshetra, eagerly anticipates the arrival of Kalki. Upon discovering that Kalki will be born to a woman named Sumati (Deepika Padukone), he takes on the role of her protector. Meanwhile, Bhairava (Prabhas) in Kashi seeks to enter a sacred complex that requires one million units for entry. Realizing that capturing Sumati could earn him the necessary funds, Bhairava sets out on his quest. Will he confront Ashwatthama and succeed in capturing Sumati? Who is Supreme Yashkin (Kamal Haasan) play, and why is he interested in Sumati? How are the Kali Yuga's conclusion and the Kurukshetra's battle connected? Why are the residents of Kashi and Shambhala facing hardships? What roles do Vijay Deverakonda and Dulquer Salmaan play? One must watch the movie 'Kalki' to find the answers to these questions. How did they perform? Pan-India star Prabhas once again asserted his commanding presence in this film, particularly shining in the role of Bhairava. His dynamic action sequences left a lasting impression. While his role was limited in the first half, he delivered a fully engaging performance in the second half. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, portraying Ashwatthama, gave an unparalleled performance, with his efforts evident on screen. Kamal Haasan, playing the villain, offered a performance that surpassed expectations. Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani captivated audiences with their roles. The cameos by Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Rajamouli, Rana, and RGV were delightful. All other actors fulfilled their roles with great conviction. How's the direction? Director Nag Ashwin is poised to make a global impact with 'Kalki'. The film's greatest strength lies in the story, which was crafted by Nag Ashwin himself. His direction, vision, and presentation all earn high praise. Although the first 40 minutes may appear slow, Ashwin ensures that the pace never falters. After this initial segment, the narrative picks up speed and maintains its intensity all the way to the climax. The scene just before the interval, in particular, is sure to give the audience goosebumps. The futuristic vehicles, weaponry, and sets are visually spectacular. Nonetheless, the screenplay has minor flaws, and some scenes seem overly prolonged. The absence of elements that typically thrill the broader audience represents a slight drawback. Improved dubbing for Deepika could have further enhanced the viewing experience. Overall, Nag Ashwin has achieved significant success as a director. Technically On the technical front, all departments exhibited exceptional skill. The graphics department especially deserves high praise. The cinematographer’s work is outstanding. Santhosh Narayanan’s music is a significant plus for the film, particularly elevating the action sequences. The editor could have sharpened his cuts a bit more. The production values are very high, with no compromises on the budget. Every scene is richly produced.
