True Lover Movie Review: A Beautiful Mirror to Lovers.. What's It Like?
True Lover Movie Review: A Beautiful Mirror to Lovers.. What's It Like?
Cast: Manikandan, Sri Gouri Priya, Kanna Ravi, and others. Director: Prabhu Ram Vyas Music: Sean Roldan Cinematography: Shreyaas Krishna Editing: Bharath Vikraman Producers: Nazerath Pasilian, Magesh Raj Pasilian, Yuvaraj Ganeshan Release Date: February 10, 2024 The film 'True Lover' stars Manikandan, Sri Gowri Priya, and Kanna Ravi in key roles, directed by Prabhu Ram Vyas. Released in Tamil as 'Lover' and received a hit talk, today, it's released in theaters for Telugu audiences under the name 'True Lover'. So, how is the film? Did it achieve success in Telugu just like in Tamil? Or not? Let's find out in this review. Plot Arun (Manikandan) and Divya (Sri Gowri Priya) have been lovers since their college days. While Divya works in a software company, Arun tries to open a coffee shop, spending his life in leisure and becoming habituated to drinking. Unexpected incidents lead to disputes between them. Arun cannot tolerate Divya being close to her colleagues. What happened next? Did Arun and Divya reunite? Or did they part ways? Did the hero's dream of opening a coffee cafe come true? Or not? That's the rest of the story. Performances Talking about the performances... Manikandan has delivered a good performance. He effectively portrayed emotional scenes and convincingly played the role of an average lover. His comedy timing is also engaging. Sri Gowri Priya played the role of Divya. The chemistry between the two on screen is appealing. Kanna Ravi and the rest of the main cast have also justified their roles. Direction Taking the theme of modern-day love as the storyline, director Prabhu Ram Vyas has crafted this movie. The script touches on how lovers fight over misunderstandings and trivial issues and reconcile just as quickly. The director has presented realistic situations and the emotional turmoil of the youth effectively. However, although the story is good, the narration feels very simple and slow in places, especially in the second half where the screenplay lacks engagement. Some scenes between the lead pair seem regular, and a few over dramatic scenes turned out to be negative for the film. Overall, while Vyas's direction is good, it failed to captivate fully. Technically.. On the technical front... Music director Sean Roldan's songs are good, with the background score enhancing certain scenes. Editor Bharath Vikraman could have done a better job in trimming the film. Shreyaas Krishna's cinematography is captivating. The production values appear high, showing no compromise on the budget. Plus Points - Story backdrop - Performances by Manikandan and Sri Gowri Priya - Some scenes that appeal to the youth Minus Points - Dragged scenes - Second half screenplay Telugu.yousay.tv Rating: 3/5

Akhil Agent Movie Review: Has Akhil Delivered a Hit with "Agent" or Is It Another Disaster?
Akhil Agent Movie Review: Has Akhil Delivered a Hit with "Agent" or Is It Another Disaster?
Akhil Akkineni has returned to the big screen after almost a year. He stars in a mass action entertainer directed by Surender Reddy. The spy thriller has created quite a buzz at the box office. Will Akhil's long-awaited solid hit come true? How is the movie? Did Sakshi Vaidya impress in her debut as the heroine? Will Mammootty's role captivate the audience? Let's find out in this review. Director: Surender Reddy Cast: Akhil, Sakshi Vaidya, Mammootty, Dino Morea Music: Hiphop Tamizha Cinematography: Rasool Ellore Story? Ricky (Akhil) desperately wants to become a 'Raw' agent. However, his attempts always fail. He then encounters Devil (Mammootty), who works for 'Raw' and is on a mission to take down the mafia don, The God (Dino Morea), who has started a syndicate in India. What did Akhil do to achieve his goal? That's the story. How is it? The director introduces the characters in the first half, including Mammootty as a 'Raw' agent, Dino Morea as a syndicate boss, and Akhil as an aspiring 'Raw' agent. The love track between the hero and heroine doesn't grab the audience's attention much. We've already seen the hero and heroine getting together and separating in many movies, so it feels familiar. The movie picks up after the interval when the actual story begins. Akhil's entry into 'Raw' as an agent creates hype, and the interval bang with intense action sequences is fantastic. However, the love story between the lead pair could have been better, and the film's pace suffers because of it. Despite these drawbacks, the performances by Akhil, Sakshi Vaidya, and Mammootty are commendable, and the action sequences are sure to entertain the audience. The second half of the film fell into a routine. The hero's efforts to take down the syndicate, and their targeting him in return, made the scenes quite dull. Even though the movie culminates in high-voltage action scenes, because of the regular story it doesn't create the excitement that it should create. The climax doesn't make much of an impact either. However, the action sequences are next-level. Performances Akhil Akkineni is the film's biggest asset. He completely transformed himself for his role. This young hero put in a lot of effort to make his character shine. His look as a wild agent is well-settled, and his acting has improved. He successfully executed the director's vision. However, there might be a feeling Akhil may need to wait for action movies, who is known for playing a lover boy. Senior actor Mammotty, as always, captivated the audience with his performance. He did justice to his role and portrayed a secret agent with finesse. The heroine, Sakshi Vaidya, didn't have much screen time, but she appeared glamorous. She played the typical character found in commercial films. Bollywood actor Dino Morea made his Tollywood entry, but his character wasn't memorable. Still, he managed to impress within his limits. Technical Aspects: Director Surender Reddy, who delivered hits like Dhruva and Sye Raa, failed to meet expectations with this film. However, this movie contains some of his best action sequences. The film is visually rich, but the story and narrative could have been better. The main drawback is the story by Vakkantham Vamsi, which is very routine. Another minus point for Agent is the music. Hip-hop Tamizha couldn't deliver a chartbuster. None of the songs managed to impress the audience. The background score was just average. The cinematography, on the other hand, is excellent. The director brilliantly captured every point he had in mind. The way fight scenes and situations were portrayed is commendable. The editing could have been better. A tighter edit would have enhanced the film. The movie's highlight is its production values. Overall, Agent is a visually stunning film with impressive action sequences but is let down by its weak story and commercial elements. Strengths Akhil Action Scenes Weaknesses Story Music Rating 2.5/5

Shades of Grey: The Complex Antagonists of Telugu Films
Shades of Grey: The Complex Antagonists of Telugu Films
Typically, films portray villains as nefarious entities who inflict suffering and engage in heinous acts, particularly against women. These characters are crafted to contrast sharply with the hero, who is destined to triumph over the villain's misdeeds, culminating in a satisfying conclusion. Yet, the landscape of villainy in cinema isn't uniformly black and white. A number of antagonists, though appearing malevolent, actually harbor commendable goals but are driven to opposition by their flawed approaches. We'll explore examples of such complex antagonists in Telugu cinema, revealing those who weren't entirely villainous by nature. Robo 2.0 - Pakshi Raju In the film Robo 2.0 directed by Shankar and starring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar portrayed the villain Pakshi Raju, a man who adored birds. He campaigns against the use of cell phones due to the radiation they emit, which he believes is killing the birds. The Plot: "Baby" revolves around Anand (Anand Devarakonda) and Vaishu (Vaishnavi Chaitanya), who have been childhood friends. Vaishu has developed feelings for Anand, and their love story begins. However, when Anand fails his tenth standard and becomes an auto driver, Vaishu pursues engineering studies, leading her to meet Viraj (Viraj Ashwin). Character development could have been more robust, and a few scenes appear stretched. Vijay Bulganin's music leaves a lasting impression, with impressive background scores. Operation Valentine Box Office Collection Day 1: Varun Tej's Career-Lowest Collections... What may be the Reason?
Operation Valentine Box Office Collection Day 1: Varun Tej's Career-Lowest Collections... What may be the Reason?
Mega Prince Varun Tej's latest film, Operation Valentine, was released on Friday and has garnered positive talk worldwide, sparking a buzz about its collections. With no big films competing, it was expected to do good. Directed by Shakti Pratap Singh Hada, the film draws inspiration from recent tense events between India and Pakistan, reflecting incidents from the Pulwama attacks in 2019 to the Balakot Air Strikes. It showcases the destruction of enemy establishments and patriotic scenes, culminating in a spectacular climax, as praised by audiences on social media. Collections Report… According to preliminary estimates by the prominent website Sacnik, the film collected ₹1.25 crores on its opening day (Operation Valentine Box Office Collection). However, it mentioned that the final tally is yet to be completed and that this figure is not the final amount. Another Bollywood website, Koimoi, revealed that Operation Valentine managed to collect between ₹3 crores and ₹4 crores. It pointed out that these collections are significantly lower compared to Varun Tej's previous films, recalling that his last movie, F3, garnered up to ₹15 crores on its opening day. Could This Be The Reason? The concurrent scheduling of intermediate exams and competitive exam notifications in Telugu states might have impacted the film's collections. However, given the positive reception, there's a chance for a substantial increase in collections over the weekends. Positive Reviews On the other hand, Varun Tej captivated audiences with his performance, embodying a true fighter pilot. His proficiency in emotional scenes was also noted. Manushi Chhillar, alongside Varun, justified her role well, and their romantic scenes were appreciated. The roles played by Navdeep, Mir Sarwar, and Ruhani Sharma also contributed to the film's appeal. Technically, the film is of high caliber, with battle scenes that promise a visual feast for viewers. Heading to OTT Soon! The movie "Operation Valentine" has been acquired by Amazon Prime Video for a hefty price for its digital rights. However, the film is set to stream on OTT platforms four weeks after its theatrical release. It is expected to arrive on OTT in the first week of April. While the theatrical version was released in Telugu and Hindi, the OTT version will stream not only in Telugu but also in other South Indian languages. https://telugu.yousay.tv/en/operation-valentine-movie-review-varun-tej-stuns-as-a-fighter-pilot.html

Cast: Varun Tej, Manushi Chhillar, Navdeep, Mir Sarwar, Ruhani Sharma, and others Direction: Shakti Pratap Singh Hada Music: Mickey J Meyer Cinematography: Hari K. Vedantam Editing: Naveen Nooli Dialogues: Sai Madhav Burra Producer: Sony Pictures, Sandeep Mudda Release Date: 01-03-2024 Varun Tej stars in director Shakti Pratap Singh Hada's film, "Operation Valentine." Being the first Telugu film to feature aerial action, "Operation Valentine" has garnered significant attention. Released simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, let's see how the film fares and how well Varun Tej has performed as a fighter pilot.  Plot Arjun Rudradev aka Rudra (Varun Tej) is a squadron leader in the Indian Air Force. Known for his "let's handle whatever comes" attitude, he moves forward with determination. He is in love with Ahana Gill (Manushi Chhillar), a radar officer in the air force. During the crucial time of Project Vajra, Rudra faces a bitter experience. As he tries to overcome it, he dives into Operation Valentine. What is the story behind Operation Valentine? What is the objective of Project Vajra? To find out, one must watch the movie. Performances Varun Tej has delivered a career-best performance in this film. He perfectly fits into the role of a true fighter pilot. His proficiency in emotional scenes showcases his acting skills. Manushi Chhillar plays a significant role as the heroine, appearing throughout most of the film alongside the hero. Their pair looks great on screen. Navdeep, Mir Sarwar, and Ruhani Sharma also play roles that leave an impact. The rest of the cast performed well within their limits. Direction Inspired by real incidents between India and Pakistan, director Shakti Pratap Singh Hada crafted this film around events from the Pulwama attacks to the Balakot air strike. He excellently depicted the destruction of enemy bases and patriotic scenes. However, the film lacks depth in the love story between the leads. The storyline feels familiar to everyone, and the script could have used more work. The narrative also lacks strength, and similarities with the recently released "Fighter" can be noticed. Technically The film stands out technically, especially with its visuals. Mickey J. Meyer's music complements the action scenes well. Despite budget constraints, the film boasts high production values and quality visuals. Telugu Films which remind us of the Ramayana.
Telugu Films which remind us of the Ramayana.
Valmiki's monumental saga, the Ramayana, has inspired countless films to great acclaim. Continuing this legacy, the recent movie 'Adipurush was made to show the greatness of Ramyana to current generation. Additionally, there are Telugu films that, though not directly showcasing Ramayana's characters, subtly weave its narrative through commercial storytelling. These cinematic works aren't overtly linked to the Ramayana at first glance, requiring a deeper analysis to uncover their connections. YouSay highlights these films, exploring the embedded Ramayana influences within them. Dasara In the recent film 'Dasara' starring hero Nani, the Ramayana's influence is apparent, especially in the portrayal of villain characters reminiscent of Ravana. The villain, who sets his sights on the heroine, schemes to make her his own. Ultimately, the hero defeats him and restores peace to his wife and village. RRR In 'RRR', if one observes Jr NTR's character, it's hard not to be reminded of Hanuman. Tarak embarks on a journey to Hastinapur to find a girl taken away by the British, much like Ravana's palace. He infiltrates a British mansion and instills courage in the captive girls, eventually reuniting the girl with her parents, mirroring how Hanuman reunited Sita with Rama. Varsham Directed by Shobhan and starring Prabhas and Trisha, 'Varsham' also echoes the Ramayana. As the hero and heroine deeply fall in love, a villain (Gopichand) enters the scene, desiring Trisha for himself. Prabhas eventually defeats him and wins his love back, reminiscent of Rama's victory over Ravana, who coveted Sita. Varudu Directed by Gunasekhar and released in 2010, 'Varudu' stars Allu Arjun and Bhanu Sri Mehra, with Tamil actor Arya playing the antagonist. The story unfolds with the hero and heroine's engagement, during which the heroine is kidnapped right from the wedding altar by the villain. The hero locates and defeats the villain to reclaim his bride, reflecting the storyline of the Ramayana. Okkadu Directed by Gunasekhar, the blockbuster 'Okkadu' stars Mahesh Babu and Bhumika. The villain (Prakash Raj), enamored with the heroine, attempts to kill her family and marry her. Bhumika escapes and encounters the hero, leading to love between them. The hero ultimately defeats the villain to secure his love, mirroring the narrative of Ravana coveting Sita and Rama defeating him. Raavanan Directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Ravanan' stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, and Prithviraj. The film modernizes the Ramayana, highlighting Ravana's perspective. SP Dev (Prithvi), resembling Rama, searches for his wife Aishwarya Rai, kidnapped by Vikram to the Nallamala forest, with a constable (Karthik) assisting him, akin to Hanuman's role. Sainikudu Starring Mahesh and Trisha, 'Sainikudu' presents a narrative somewhat opposite to the Ramayana. The heroine, believing the villain to be good, agrees to marry him. However, upon discovering his true nature, Trisha falls for Mahesh Babu. The hero defeats the villain, who attempts to forcefully marry Trisha, and claims his love. Robo Directed by Shankar, 'Robo' stars Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai. Scientist Vaseegaran creates a robot, Chitti, capable of human emotions, which falls in love with the heroine and abducts her. The hero ultimately deactivates the robot and wins back his love, reflecting the Ramayana's essence. Adipurush Last year's 'Adipurush', starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, is based on the Ramayana's war chapter. Despite harsh criticism, director Om Raut defended the film as a modern interpretation of the Ramayana suited for today's youth. Seeta Ramula Kalyanam Lankalo Starring Nitin and Hansika, 'Seeta Ramula Kalyanam Lankalo' directly evokes the Ramayana's narrative. The college-going hero and heroine fall in love, but family feuds involving the villain, reminiscent of Ravana, complicate their relationship. The hero, disguised, infiltrates the villain's stronghold, like Lanka, deceives the villains, and triumphs in love.
