Aho Vikramarka Movie Review: Dev Gill's 'Aho! Vikramarka' Struggles to Impress
Cast: Dev Gill, Chitra Shukla, Tejaswini Pandit, Praveen Tarde, Posani Krishna Murali, Sayaji Shinde, Prabhakar, and others
Director: Peta Trikoti
Screenplay and Dialogue: Prasad Varma
Music: Ravi Basrur
Editor: Tammi Raju
Producers: Dev Gill, Mihir Sudhir, Ashwani Kumar Mishra
Release Date: August 30, 2024
Actor Dev Gill, known for his role as a villain in Magadheera, has gained recognition in several Telugu films. His latest film as a protagonist, 'Aho! Vikramarka, directed by Trikoti, is released on August 30. How did the film turn out? Did hero Dev Gill succeed? Let's find out in this review.
Plot
In Pune, 1200 laborers from a colony disappear without a trace for 25 years, leaving their families in despair, not knowing whether they are alive or dead. During this period, Vikramarka (Dev Gill) is transferred to the Pune police station as an SI. Initially, he colluded with the drug mafia led by Bilal (Posani Krishna Murali). Influenced by his girlfriend Archana (Chitra Shukla), he transforms into an honest police officer. What incident prompted Vikramarka's change? What happened to the missing laborers? Was Vikramarka able to save them? What challenges did he face in this process? This is the story.
Performances
Dev Gill has shown his mark in action scenes. With experience playing villains in various films, he seemed to handle action effortlessly. However, he struggled significantly in love scenes and emotional sequences, failing to express emotions convincingly. Chitra Shukla delivered a solid performance as the heroine, fitting well into her role. Praveen and Tejaswini Pandit, as the villain and ACP Bhavani respectively, were compelling. Posani Krishna Murali and Sayaji Shinde impressed with their seasoned acting. The rest of the cast was satisfactory.
Direction
Directed by Peta Trikoti, the film reminds one of Telugu hits like 'Temper' and 'Pataas.' However, the plot lacks novelty, and the narration isn't engaging. The director failed to extract compelling performances corresponding to the story's demands. The love track between the hero and heroine feels quite tedious, and Dev Gill's romantic looks recall his villain roles. Nonetheless, Trikoti made an effort to showcase his style in the fight scenes, which are somewhat interesting when the hero confronts the villains.
Technically...
The art department performed well. Ravi Basrur's music was underwhelming, though the background score was passable in places. The production values were high, with no compromise on the budget.
Plus Points
Action sequences
Production values
Minus Points
Story and narration
Hero's acting

Thangalaan Review: Another Milestone in Vikram's Career

Director: Pa. Ranjith
Music: GV Prakash Kumar
Editing: Selva R.K.
Cinematography: A. Kishore Kumar
Producers: K.E. Gnanavel Raja, Pa. Ranjith, Jyoti Desh Pandey
Release Date: 15-08-2024
Having portrayed distinctive characters in films like 'Aparichitudu' and 'I', actor Vikram, who is also popular in Telugu cinema, has returned with another exciting movie, 'Thangalaan'. In this film, Vikram appears as a tribal man, and his transformation for the role has significantly heightened expectations among the audience. The trailer and teaser for the movie have doubled these expectations. Released worldwide on August 15, how did 'Thangalaan' fare? Has Vikram mesmerized once again with his performance? What was the cinematic experience like for the audience? Let’s explore in this review.
What's the Story?
Set during British rule in the 1850s, the story unfolds in a village called Veppur. Thangalaan (Vikram), living with his family, finds himself compelled to join a gold hunt with an Englishman named Clement due to unforeseen circumstances. This journey brings them face to face with bizarre experiences. Thangalaan is haunted by dreams where Aarathi (Malavika Mohanan), a tribal sorceress, uses her supernatural powers to protect the gold. But does she really safeguard the gold? What challenges do Thangalaan and his team face from her? What does Thangalaan learn on this journey? Did he ultimately discover the gold or not? That is the story.
How Did They Perform?
Vikram, as Thangalaan, was outstanding and made the character unforgettable. His portrayal as a tribal person, with the mannerisms and expressions, captivates everyone. This can be marked as another milestone in Vikram's career. Parvathy Thiruvothu, playing Thangalaan’s wife, was adequate in her role. Malavika Mohanan as Aarathi, the tribal leader, delivered the best performance of her career. Her looks and acting scared the audience and stood next to Vikram in terms of impact. Their action scenes together are particularly thrilling. Other actors performed well within their roles.
How's the Direction?
The film 'Thangalaan', primarily revolving around a gold hunt, is subtly portrayed by director Pa. Ranjith was a struggle of an oppressed class during the British era, highlighting racial discrimination. The world and characters created by the director transport the audience to a new realm. The people's attire and societal depiction are immersive. The journey of Thangalaan with the British in search of gold, and the challenges they face en route, build suspense. The scenes before the interval raise expectations for the second half, which, however, feels a bit detached as the story progresses. The pre-climax fight between the British, Thangalaan, and the tribal community leads to confusion, blurring the line between Thangalaan's dreams and reality. Yet, the director delivers a satisfying conclusion in the climax by revealing another dimension of Thangalaan's character.
Technically Speaking
Technically, the film is robust in many aspects. The costumes, makeup, and art departments have outdone themselves for this movie. The music by GV Prakash Kumar also complements the narrative well. The production values are high.
Plus Points:
- Story and narration
- Performances by Vikram and Malavika
- Fantasy elements
Minus Points:
- Pacing in the second half
- Slow narration

Netflix Shocker: ‘Thangalaan’ OTT Deal in Trouble After Box Office Struggles!
Tamil actor Vikram, who became popular in Telugu for his distinct roles in films like 'Aparichitudu' and 'I', has captivated everyone with his performance as a primitive man in the recently released film 'Thangalaan'. Vikram's transformation for his role in this movie has garnered widespread acclaim. Released on August 15, the film received mixed reviews. However, even before its release, Netflix secured the OTT rights for a hefty price. This has led cine lovers, who have been eagerly anticipating when the movie will arrive on OTT, to receive a shock from the prominent OTT company, Netflix. Let's delve into the details.
Netflix Backs Down!
The latest film starring Chiyaan Vikram, 'Thangalaan', a periodic action drama, was presented by Pa Ranjith. It was produced by K.E. Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green Films banner in association with Neelam Productions. Featuring Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan as the heroines, the movie was released in theaters in Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada languages on August 15 and managed to stir a mixed response. The movie did not achieve the expected success, leading Netflix to reconsider their OTT deal for 'Thangalaan'. Reportedly, Netflix is demanding to lower the previously agreed sum for the OTT rights.
Release on Another OTT?
According to reports, the producers of 'Thangalaan' are not willing to comply with Netflix's demand to reduce the price for the OTT rights. With the producers rejecting this offer, there is talk in Kollywood circles that Netflix has canceled the OTT deal. As Netflix remains firm, the producers are intensifying efforts to offer 'Thangalaan' to another OTT platform. However, this process may take more time to complete. Until then, it seems unlikely that 'Thangalaan' will appear on any OTT platform soon, leaving cine lovers who are eagerly waiting a bit shocked.
Collections Nil!
The prominent Tamil producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja produced 'Thangalaan' with a budget of nearly ₹100 crores. Despite only average reviews, it was expected that the film would easily garner over ₹150 crores. However, unexpectedly, the film only grossed ₹105 crores and managed a net collection of just ₹70 crores. Regardless of the film's outcome, Vikram's performance was universally praised. His acting in 'Thangalaan' has been hailed as another milestone in his career, making everyone hopeful to watch the movie on OTT, only to be left disappointed by Netflix.
What's the Story?
Set in the 1850s during British rule in India, the story unfolds in a village called Veppur. Thangalaan (Vikram) lives there with his family. Under unforeseen circumstances, Thangalaan is forced to join an English lord named Clement in a quest for gold. This journey brings them face-to-face with bizarre experiences. Thangalaan dreams that a sorceress from the serpent tribe, Arati (Malavika Mohanan), is protecting the gold with her supernatural powers. But is she really guarding the gold? What challenges do Thangalaan and his team face because of her? What does Thangalaan learn through this journey? Did they finally discover the gold or not? That forms the crux of the story.

Ravi Teja: How Did He Win Over Balakrishna's Fans with the 'Aavesham' Remake?
Among the stars of Tollywood, Ravi Teja is known as the 'Mass Maharaja'. Having delivered blockbusters such as 'Idiot', 'Bhadra', 'Venky', 'Vikramarkudu', 'Kick', 'Mirapakay', 'Power', 'Bengal Tiger', and 'Raja The Great', Ravi Teja hasn't been seen much in recent years. Although his recent films 'Dhamaka' and 'Eagle' seemed promising, they failed to deliver the level of success expected of Ravi Teja's caliber. His latest, 'Mr. Bachchan', also faced a dismal failure. Given his string of flops, it appears that the Mass Maharaja is taking a daring step by getting ready to remake a successful Malayalam movie.
Ravi Teja in the Remake of 'Aavesham'!
The Malayalam film 'Aavesham', directed by Jeethu Madhavan and featuring Fahadh Faasil in the lead, was an action-comedy that released this year and achieved great success, grossing over ₹150 crores at the box office. There has been talk in Tollywood about remaking this film in Telugu for some time. According to the latest buzz, Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja has acquired the remake rights of this film. Ravi Teja's acquisition of the rights has led to widespread speculation that he will star in the remake himself, to be produced under his own production company. An official announcement may also be coming soon, exciting Ravi Teja's fans.
Choosing Over Balakrishna...
There were rumors that Nandamuri Balakrishna would star in remake 'Aavesham' in Telugu, as Fahadh Faasil's role seemed a good fit for him. Balakrishna's fans even counted the film as one of his future projects. However, unexpectedly, Ravi Teja secured the project instead, charming Balakrishna's fans. Yet, Balakrishna's fans also say that Fahadh Faasil's role suits Ravi Teja well and believe that he will do justice to the various shades of the character. The question of who will direct this intriguing remake is currently generating much interest.
Struggling to Overcome the Flop Streak!
Ravi Teja, who once entertained fans with hit films, is now struggling with a series of flops. Of his last ten films, only one ('Krack') was a hit, and two others ('Dhamaka' and 'Eagle') received average feedback. The remaining seven were outright failures at the box office. The less said about 'Mr. Bachchan', the better, as it drew significant criticism and trolling for Ravi Teja. Critics have pointed out that he is not choosing age-appropriate roles and seems more interested in romantic scenes with much younger actresses. These criticisms have led Ravi Teja to decide that he must achieve a hit somehow and believes that remaking the successful Malayalam movie 'Aavesham' would be a safe bet.
Will 'Aavesham' Be a Good Fit?
'Aavesham' presents a unique story where three college students seek help from a local gangster, Ranga (Fahadh Faasil), to deal with their seniors. As the plot unfolds, Ranga forms a bond with the students, but complications arise due to his character, leading to an intriguing situation. Fahadh Faasil's characterization is a special attraction in this story. Given that the character suits senior actors well, initially, Balakrishna's name came up. Now that Ravi Teja's name has emerged, many wonder how he will fit into this role. There's no doubt that Ravi Teja can handle it, as the role demands a mix of comedy, action, and aggression, all of which he can deliver convincingly.

Anirudh's Tollywood Takeover: A New Challenge for Thaman and Devi Sri?
Anirudh Ravichander is currently creating waves in the South Indian music scene. Originating from Kollywood, this music sensation has gained immense popularity through movies like 'Raghuvaram B.Tech', 'Vikram', 'Jailer', and 'Beast'. His presence guarantees significant hype for the movies. Particularly among the youth, Anirudh's songs and background scores resonate well. Recently, he also delivered a stunning soundtrack for the film 'Devara' starring Tarak, reinforcing the trust placed in him. Although Anirudh has primarily focused on Kollywood until now, it seems he is shifting his focus to Tollywood, sparking discussions about the challenges this poses to local music directors.
A Craze in Telugu Cinema!
The young music sensation Anirudh has a strong following in Telugu cinema as well. He has directly worked on Telugu films like 'Agnyaathavaasi', 'Jersey', 'Gang Leader', and 'UTurn'. While his music in these films was a hit, there wasn't much discussion about Anirudh in Tollywood. However, with recent films like 'Vikram', 'Jailer', and 'Jawan', his reputation has soared to a Pan-India level. The youth are particularly enamored with his background music. These films being dubbed in Telugu also meant that Anirudh’s music was thoroughly enjoyed by the Telugu audience, who listened to his songs on repeat. Due to the demand from NTR's fans, Anirudh was also brought into the 'Devara' project, as recently disclosed by the makers.
A Series of Offers in Tollywood!
Following the success of 'Devara', Anirudh's name is being increasingly heard in Tollywood. Telugu audiences are eager to experience his music in theaters once again. Noticing this interest, Telugu filmmakers are showing a keen desire to work with Anirudh. Observing the reception in Telugu cinema, Anirudh has decided to amp up his involvement in Tollywood projects. Reportedly, he has given the green light to 'VD12', a project in collaboration with Vijay Deverakonda and Gowtam Tinnanuri, and has also agreed to score music for an upcoming film by Nani and Srikanth Odela. Other directors are also reaching out to Anirudh for their movies, with talks suggesting he might take on up to half a dozen Telugu projects in the coming days.
A Challenge for Thaman and Devi Sri?
Music directors Thaman and Devi Sri Prasad have been the top choices in Tollywood for the past few years, typically scoring music for five to eight out of every ten releases. They have been the first two preferences for Telugu directors. However, analysts believe that with Anirudh’s entry, both face stiff competition. Until recently, Anirudh had not prioritized Tollywood, but now that he is focusing on Telugu films, it poses a significant challenge to them. It remains to be seen how Thaman and Devi Sri will fare against the wave of Anirudh's mania.
If These Click, Stopping Them is Tough!
Thaman is currently composing for a film Game Changer directed by Shankar starring Ram Charan. The songs 'Jaragandi Jaragandi' and 'Ra Macha Macha' have already been released to a positive response. Similarly, Thaman is also scoring for Pawan Kalyan's 'OG', and the song 'Hungry Cheetah' has thrilled Pawan's fans. Meanwhile, Thaman has been chosen as the music director for 'Akhanda 2', a sequel directed by Boyapati featuring Balakrishna. On the other hand, Devi Sri Prasad is handling the music for 'Pushpa 2'. The title song and 'Suseki Aggiravva Madiri' from 'Pushpa' have already amassed millions of views on YouTube. If these projects succeed, it could be tough for anyone to challenge Thaman and Devi Sri’s dominance in the industry.

Pottel Movie Review: 'Rangasthalam' Level Telugu Film? Sandeep Reddy Vanga's BOLD Comparison, Ananya's De-glam Avatar Shocks, But Second Half DISAPPOINTS!
Cast: Yuva Chandra Krishna, Ananya Nagalla, Ajay, Priyanka Sharma, Tanasvi Choudary, Noel Sean, Chatrapathi Shekhar, Srikanth Iyengar, Jeevan, Riyaz, Vikram, and others.
Written and Directed by: Sahith Mothkuri
Music by: Shekhar Chandra
Cinematography by: Monish Bhupathi Raju
Edited by: Karthika Srinivas
Producers: Nishank Reddy Kudithi, Suresh Kumar Sadige
Production Companies: Nisa Entertainments, Pragnya Sannidhi Creations
Release Date: 25-10-2024
In the latest film Pottel, Ananya Nagalla and Yuva Chandra pair up in a film directed by Sahith Mothkuri, who made his directorial debut with the film Savari. Pottel has garnered unprecedented publicity for a small-scale cinema. Pan-India director Sandeep Reddy Vanga praised this film by comparing it with Ram Charan's 'Rangasthalam.' The screenwriter Trivikram also raised expectations by lauding the film. Released on Friday (October 25), did this film meet expectations? Did it bring success to Ananya? Let's see in this review.
Plot
The story unfolds in Gurramgadda village, located at the borders of Maharashtra and Telangana. The villagers conduct a festival for the village deity Balamma once in every cycle and offer sacrifices. It is believed that during this time, the deity possesses Patel (Ajay), the village head, who then prevents the villagers from progressing, particularly in education. On the other side, Pedda Gangadhari (Yuva Chandra) serves as the keeper of the sacrificial animals and secretly educates his daughter. When Patel finds out, he makes the sacrificial animal disappear. He threatens to sacrifice Gangadhari's daughter if the animal isn't found by the festival. What does Gangadhari do to save his daughter? Is he able to bring back the animal? What role does Bujjamma (Ananya Nagalla) play in this story?
Performances
Ajay, as Patel, delivers a powerhouse performance, surpassing even his impactful role in 'Vikramarkudu.' Newcomer Yuva Chandra excels as Gangadhari, a man desperate to educate his child and improve his village. Despite being his debut, he perfectly fits into his role. Telugu actress Ananya Nagalla gets a substantial role and shines as Bujjamma. Even in a deglamorized role, she delivers an exceptional performance. Singer Noel also got a significant role and did justice to it. Srikanth Iyengar and Chatrapathi Shekhar lived up to their roles, along with other supporting cast members who performed competently within their limits.
Direction
Director Sahith Mothkuri captures the essence of a rural 1980s setting right from the beginning, immersing the audience into that era within the first 20 minutes. He vividly portrays how the oppressed and weak were subdued during the Patel era, focusing on the prejudices rooted in caste and pride. The introduction of characters, the love story between the hero and heroine, and other scenes are well-handled in the first half. However, the second half seems a bit faltering. The director appears to rely too heavily on the villain's oppression to drive emotional engagement, resulting in scenes that sometimes lack logical continuity. Nevertheless, the director succeeds in connecting the audience with the film's underlying message.
Technically
On the technical front, the music and cinematography departments have performed well. The songs and background score positively impact the film. However, editing flaws are noticeable, particularly in the second half where scenes drag. The art department excels, recreating the atmosphere of the 1980s with their workmanship.
Plus Points
- Story
- Lead performances
- Music
Minus Points
- Lack of engaging narrative
- Dragging scenes

Weekend Collections: Heading Toward Disaster for ‘Mr. Bachchan’ and ‘Double Ismart’... NTR's Brother-in-Law Dominates 4-Day Collections!
To coincide with Independence Day, several big films hit the screens on August 15. The movies 'Double Ismart' featuring Ram and directed by Puri Jagannadh, and 'Mr. Bachchan' starring Ravi Teja and directed by Harish Shankar were among the releases. Additionally, the Tamil star Vikram's 'Thangalaan' and NTR's brother-in-law's film 'Aay' also premiered on the same day. Prior to their release, the films of Ravi Teja and Ram generated massive hype. However, post-release, they failed to meet expectations and disappointed in terms of collections. On the other hand, 'Thangalaan' and 'Aay' received positive reviews and are doing well at the box office. Let's take a look at the 4-day collections of these four films and see which one is leading the pack.
Disastrous Collections for Mr. Bachchan!
Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja, paired with actress Bhaghyashri Borse, starred in the latest film ‘Mr. Bachchan,’ directed by Harish Shankar. This action entertainer, released on August 15, failed to impress the audience as expected, resulting in dismal first-day collections. It grossed only ₹5.3 crores worldwide. The second day brought in ₹1.75 crores, and the third day saw similar figures. By the fourth day, the movie's collections had dropped from crores to lakhs, grossing only ₹65 lakhs worldwide. As a result, ‘Mr. Bachchan’ managed to collect just ₹7.50 crores in its first four days.
Double Ismart Collections Headed for Disaster!
The second film from the energetic star Ram Pothineni and director Puri Jagannadh combo, 'Double Ismart,' is the sequel to their previous blockbuster 'Ismart Shankar.' The film, which features Kavya Thapar as the lead actress, opened to decent figures, grossing ₹12.45 crores worldwide on its first day. However, negative talk quickly spread, leading to a drop in collections. The second day saw the film gross just ₹2.25 crores worldwide. Over the next two days, it managed to bring in ₹1.5 crores and ₹1.9 crores respectively. In total, 'Double Ismart' collected ₹16 crores in its first four days.
Thangalaan's 4-Day Collections
South Indian star Vikram's 'Thangalaan,' directed by Pa. Ranjith, also released on August 15. The film, produced by K.E. Gnanavel Raja, received positive word-of-mouth on its first day, grossing ₹26.44 crores worldwide. Over the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, it continued to perform solidly, bringing its total four-day worldwide gross to ₹65 crores. The fact that it achieved this level of success without even releasing in the North has garnered widespread praise. 'Thangalaan' is set to release in the North on August 30. With positive talk in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, the film is expected to continue its strong box office performance this week.
‘Aay’ Moves Into Profits!
NTR’s brother-in-law Narnne Nithiin starred in the latest film 'Aay,' which was released on August 15. Despite competing with big films, ‘Aay’ stood its ground and garnered positive talk. The film has been performing well at the box office. On its first day, it grossed ₹2 crores and maintained that momentum on the second day. Trade sources reported that the film earned ₹1.20 crores on the third day and increased to ₹1.46 crores on the fourth day. With total collections of ₹7.20 crores in its first four days, 'Aay' became the first Independence Day release to enter profit territory. From here on, all earnings are expected to be pure profit, according to trade experts.

Mr. Bachchan Vs Double Ismart: Who's the Winner in Day 1 Collections?
On August 15, marking Independence Day, blockbuster films hit the screens. 'Double Ismart' by the Ram-Puri combo and 'Mr. Bachchan' by the Ravi Teja-Harish Shankar team greeted the audiences. Alongside them, Tamil star Vikram's 'Thangalan' and NTR's brother-in-law Narne Nithiin's 'Aay' also made their presence felt in theaters. While the films starring Ravi Teja and Ram received mixed responses, Vikram's and Narne Nithiin's movies garnered positive talk. But which film took the lead in day one collections? Which movie raked in the highest earnings? Let’s find out in this report.
Double Ismart's Collections!
'Double Ismart,' directed by Puri Jagannadh and starring Ram Pothineni, garnered a divided response but still managed to pull in impressive numbers. The film reportedly earned Rs. 12.45 crores (GROSS) worldwide on its opening day, as officially announced by the makers. They even released a special poster to mark the occasion. In the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone, the film collected over Rs. 8.35 crores, as reported by trade circles, with an additional Rs. 4 crores coming from the rest of India and overseas. With the long weekend, there’s potential for further increase in its collections.
Mr. Bachchan’s Scenario!
'Mr. Bachchan,' the third collaboration between Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja and creative director Harish Shankar, carried high expectations until its release on Thursday, August 15, but received mixed reviews. Nevertheless, it managed to gross Rs. 5.3 crores worldwide on its first day, with Rs. 1.8 crores coming from the premiere shows held on August 14, as stated by trade sources. The film faced significant trolling right from the first show, which reportedly affected its collections. However, given the long weekend, recovery isn’t ruled out. Bhagyashri Borse starred alongside Ravi Teja, marking her debut in the Telugu film industry with this movie.
Thangalaan Tops!
'Thangalaan,' starring Tamil star hero Vikram, topped the release day earnings among all the films, collecting a massive Rs. 26.44 crores (GROSS) worldwide, as officially declared by the producers. The film has been especially well-received even without a North Indian release yet, drawing universal acclaim. It is set to release in the North on the 30th of this month. 'Thangalaan,' performing well in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, is expected to achieve significant box office numbers by the end of this weekend, with Vikram's performance being widely praised.
Aay's Good Collections!
'Aay,' the second film by NTR’s brother-in-law Narne Nithiin following the success of 'Mad,' captivated audiences again with its village backdrop love entertainer. The film brought in positive talk on its first day, with trade circles estimating that it grossed Rs. 2 crores. Made on a budget of Rs. 8 crores, the film’s appealing opening day collections have left the film unit in high spirits, anticipating profits by the end of the weekend.

Priyanka Mohan's Journey from Engineer to South Cinema Star: Celebrating Her Rise on Her Birthday!
Priyanka Arul Mohan is among the leading actresses from South India. Having faced many challenges at the start of her career, she is now continuing as a star heroine. She has earned a unique recognition for herself by acting alongside star heroes like Suriya, Dhanush, Nani, Sivakarthikeyan, and Jayam Ravi. Currently, she is catching everyone's eye by acting in 'OG' alongside Pawan. Today is Priyanka Mohan's birthday (HBD Priyanka Mohan), marking her entry into the 29th year. Let’s take this opportunity to learn some interesting aspects of her career.
Priyanka Mohan was born on November 20, 1995, in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, where she also completed her education, earning a degree in Biological Engineering.
Priyanka's mother is Kannadiga while her father is of Tamil descent, which made her proficient in both Kannada and Tamil.
During her engineering studies, Priyanka participated in several plays and acted in two or three commercials.
Priyanka revealed in an interview that her friends pooled money to make a movie with her during that time.
She clarified that her first Kannada film was 'Ondu Kathe Hella,' but she didn’t tell her family she was making the film.
After its release, her family was shocked to see Priyanka in the film but didn't say a word and instead encouraged her.
Despite her interest in acting, Priyanka never thought about entering films; she dreamed of securing a good job.
If she hadn’t entered the industry, Priyanka mentioned she would have been working in a reputable corporate firm by now.
Priyanka made her Telugu debut with 'Gang Leaders.' On her first day of shooting, seeing veteran actors like Lakshmi and Saranya made her very nervous.
She questioned her worthiness of acting with such accomplished actors and directly asked the director Vikram if he had made a hasty decision in casting her.
From a young age, Priyanka admired Suriya. She was thrilled to get a chance to act with him in 'ET.' After shooting, when Suriya sent her a gift, she excitedly posted it on Instagram.
Priyanka is known for her gentle nature, speaks very little wherever she goes, and has very few friends.
She admires actresses like Nithya Menen, Anushka, and Nazriya, and loves their acting, as she has mentioned on multiple occasions.
Unlike other actresses who might take off on vacations if there’s a shooting gap, Priyanka prefers to rest at home or engage in her favorite activities during her free time, occasionally going on trips.
Getting up early in the morning is quite challenging for Priyanka, and she admitted in an interview that she used to be very lazy about exercising in the early days of her career.
Priyanka is an excellent cook, especially of chicken dishes, which she claims to prepare very deliciously.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Priyanka Mohan (@priyankaamohanofficial)
She emphasized that her day must start with a cup of coffee; without it, her day doesn't start at all.
Priyanka tries to be the same off-screen as she appears in films, preferring traditional roles over glamorous ones.
In Telugu, she has acted in 'Gang Leader,' 'Sreekaram,' and recently in Saripodhaa Sanivaaram,' and is currently acting with Pawan in 'OG.'
In Tamil, she has worked with Sivakarthikeyan in 'Doctor' and 'Don,' and with Dhanush in 'Captain Miller,' all of which were also dubbed into Telugu.

Chiranjeevi: Godfather to Young Heroes, A Big Salute to This Mega Support!
Chiranjeevi, a leading actor in Tollywood, has dominated the Telugu film industry for over four decades. Even in his sixties, he continues to give young heroes a run for their money with his films. Currently, he serves as an inspiration to the entire generation of young heroes, mentoring newcomers along the way. Chiranjeevi stands as a pillar of support for these emerging stars without any backing in the industry, often attending their movie promotions and contributing to their success. Recently, he graced the pre-release event of Satyadev’s 'Zebra' as a chief guest, boosting the morale of young actors by specially mentioning small films.
Praise for Small Films
Chiranjeevi, a fervent fan and established actor, attended the pre-release event of Satyadev's 'Zebra,' which will be released on the 22nd of this month in Hyderabad. At the event, Chiranjeevi highlighted the successes of small films released this year. He expressed his joy over the Pan-India success of Prasanth Varma and Teja Sajja's 'Hanuman' released during Sankranti. He also acknowledged the successes of 'Committee Kurrollu' produced by Niharika Konidela, and 'Tillu Square' starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda. He was pleased with the Diwali releases 'Lucky Baskhar,' 'Ka,' and 'Amaran,' noting them as positive developments. He mentioned watching 'Matthu Vadalara 2,' starring Keeravani’s son Sri Simha and comedian Satya, twice and praised their performances. The respective film teams were elated by Chiranjeevi’s endorsement.

Reliable Support for Young Heroes
Chiranjeevi continues to support the new generation of heroes who consider him their inspiration. Recently, he attended the pre-release event of Satyadev’s film and even suggested Satyadev as the antagonist for his own movie 'Godfather,' giving a significant boost to Satyadev’s career. Previously, Chiranjeevi praised young hero Suhas at a film event, commending his performance in 'Colour Photo,' which moved Suhas to tears. He also blessed young actor Sharwanand at the 'Sreekaaram' movie pre-release event. When the 'Committee Kurrollu' team visited Chiru's residence, he blessed the lead actor Yashwant, who was visibly grateful during a photo session. Chiranjeevi consistently encourages young actors whenever the opportunity arises.
Chiranjeevi Set to Visit Japan!
Chiranjeevi is currently working on the film 'Viswambhara,' directed by 'Bimbisara' fame Vashistha Mallidi. According to the latest buzz, he will soon head to Japan for a ten-day shooting schedule, which will include important scenes and songs. The film, produced under the banner of UV Creations by Vikram, Vamshi, and Pramod, is being made as a socio-fantasy entertainer similar to 'Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari' and 'Anji.' Scheduled for a Sankranti 2025 release, Chiranjeevi has stepped back from 'Game Changer' with Ram Charan to focus on 'Viswambhara.'

Diwali Drama: 'KA' Movie's ₹26.5 Crore Success Story Marred by Theater Politics and Tamil Nadu Rejection
Starring Tollywood's young hero Kiran Abbavaram in the lead role, 'Ka', directed by the young duo Sujith and Sandeep, has been a massive success, particularly during the 2024 Diwali season. Co-starring young beauty Nayan Sarika, the film's collections have been steadily increasing, grossing over Rs. 26.52 crores in the first four days, surprising everyone. However, the film could have earned even more if not for certain injustices at the theaters which have significantly affected its collections. If this mistake is not rectified, the future of smaller films could be seriously jeopardized.
Injustice in Theater Allocations
'Ka', starring Kiran Abbavaram, was announced long ago as a Diwali release, initially facing no competition for the holiday slot. However, other films such as 'Lucky Baskhar', 'Amaran', and 'Bagheera' entered the Diwali fray later. Except for 'Lucky Baskhar', the other films were foreign language films dubbed in Telugu. Due to the release of 'Amaran' and 'Bagheera', 'Ka' did not receive the expected number of theaters. Moreover, multiplexes showed a preference for showcasing 'Amaran'. With a strong production house like Mythri Movie Makers backing 'Lucky Baskhar', that film did not face any theater issues. However, 'Ka' suffered significant losses. Being a smaller film without a major star, distributors and exhibitors were hesitant to screen 'Ka', which ended up being shown in only 147 theaters across the Telugu states. Had 'Amaran' and 'Bagheera' been blocked from releasing during Diwali, 'Ka' would have easily secured more theaters and possibly joined the Rs. 50 crore club due to its strong performance.
Ignored by 'Kollywood'!
Tamil films receive extensive support from Telugu audiences, with stars like Suriya, Karthi, Vikram, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan enjoying a separate fan base in the Telugu states, contributing significantly to the high box office collections of Tamil films. However, Telugu films do not receive the same level of appreciation in Tamil Nadu. Telugu films are somewhat looked down upon by Tamil directors, producers, and audiences. The issue with 'Ka' highlighted this bias once again. As part of a pan-India release strategy, the makers of 'Ka' had planned a strong release in Tamil Nadu. However, Tamil directors and producers completely blocked the release of 'Ka', fearing that it would compete with local Diwali releases. Not a single theater was offered in Tamil Nadu, which Kiran Abbavaram himself announced. Had 'Ka' been released there, the potential increase in collections would have been significant. Due to the lack of theaters, 'Ka' is now slated to release there a week late.
Ignored by the Media!
Even when injustices occur against 'Ka' in both Tamil Nadu and the Telugu states, Tollywood elites and entertainment media remain silent. Telugu film sites, journalists, and social media that repeatedly highlight Kiran Abbavaram's failures are silent on the injustices happening even though the film is achieving great success. They often question the necessity of a large budget for your film and whether it can recover the investment but remain silent when collections are drastically reduced. Isn't the entertainment media responsible for supporting good cinema? If this situation does not change, the future of small films could be in jeopardy, especially during festival seasons, potentially discouraging young heroes and directors from releasing films.
Change is Necessary!
Regardless of the industry Bollywood, Kollywood, Sandalwood, Mollywood, or Hollywood and regardless of the season, films are provided in theaters. If necessary, they indirectly pressure small films to step aside. This situation needs to change. During festive seasons like Sankranti, Dussehra, Diwali, and summer, checks should be placed on dubbing films from neighboring states, suggesting a delayed release of one week to ensure good collections for Telugu films. There is no injustice to anyone here. When Tamil Nadu prioritizes Tamil films, the same rule should apply in Telugu states. Tollywood elders, producers, and distributors need to think about this.

'Slaves' Comment Backfires: Tamil Actress Kasthuri Shankar Schooled on Chennai's Telugu Origins and Tamil Nadu's Hidden Telugu Heritage
Tamil actress Kasthuri Shankar, known for her roles in several blockbuster films like 'Bharatheeyudu', has recently made inappropriate comments targeting the Telugu-speaking people, equating them to slaves. Her comments, which purportedly elaborate on historical contexts, have sparked controversy in both Telugu states and have become a topic of discussion even in Tamil Nadu, where she is currently a member of the BJP. However, if Kasthuri were aware of history, she might have refrained from such remarks. Knowing the significant contributions of Telugu rulers, leaders, and individuals in Tamil lands would have offered a better perspective.
What Exactly Happened?
Tamil actress Kasthuri's recent comments have caused severe uproar in the Telugu states. During an event organized in Gurumoorthy Nagar in Chennai, she joined the BJP and targeted the DMK and the Karunanidhi family. She remarked that Telugu people, who initially came to serve in the royal courts 300 years ago, are now claiming Tamil identity, questioning who are others to deny Tamil identity to the Brahmins who came here long ago. She suggested that Dravidian ideologists oppose Brahmins merely because they advise against coveting others' wives, and thus, they oppose Sanathana Dharmam. She also claimed that speaking Telugu alone is enough to become ministers in Tamil Nadu, noting that five Telugu ministers are currently in the DMK government.
Impact on Tamil History
One of the prominent dynasties that ruled Tamil Nadu was the Cholas, among whom Kulottunga Chola-I was of Telugu descent. His father was Rajaraja Narendra, a ruler from the Vengi Chalukya dynasty who governed the region between Krishna and Godavari in present-day Andhra Pradesh. Kulottunga Chola’s mother, Ammangaidevi, was a princess in the Chola realm. After her father's death, instability plagued the Chola kingdom, leading Kulottunga to safeguard his grandfather's empire and continue ruling there. His descendants also successfully ruled Tamil Nadu. From 1061-1118, Kulottunga ruled as a Chalukya emperor, but his son Vikrama Chola became a Chola emperor, illustrating that the blood of Telugu Chalukyas was present in him. Historians often state that a Telugu person ruled the great Tamil kingdom of the Cholas, clearly marking the impact of Telugu culture on Tamil history.

The Telugu Name Behind ‘Chennai’
The name of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, comes from a Telugu person. In 1639, Damerla Chennappa Nayakudu, a prince under Venkatapati Nayak, a lord from the Andhra Padmanayaka dynasty, governed the area. The British, under the East India Company, settled there and later renamed the area as Madras. Over time, the area became known as Madras, but locals preferred to call it Chennai Pattinam or Chennapuri. Following local preference, after independence, the name was officially changed to Chennai in August 1996.

Telugu Influence on Madras
Previously, the combined state of Madras, now Tamil Nadu, was united with Andhra Pradesh. Due to Potti Sreeramulu’s hunger strike, Andhra Pradesh was formed as a separate state on October 1, 1953. Telugu people played vital roles in all sectors in the erstwhile Madras state, contributing to its development. From 1925-29, Srikalahasti zamindar Panaganti Ramarayanam served as the president of the Justice Party and Chief Minister of Madras, during which the current Thyagaraya Nagar was established. Between 1932-36, Bobbili Raja, Sri Ramakrishna Ranga Rao, served as the Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency. Rao Bahadur Kurma Venkata Reddy Naidu worked as the Governor of Madras. Even before the split, Prakasam Pantulu, a Telugu person, served as the Chief Minister of the united Madras state. The first three graduates in law from Madras University were Telugu. Thus, Telugu individuals significantly impacted politics, education, medicine, law, and commerce.

Hundreds of Telugu Manuscripts
Vijayanagara Emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya, known to all Telugu people, wrote 'Amuktamalyada' under the witness of his court's Ashtadiggajas, which is still preserved in the Tanjavur library in Tamil Nadu. Along with it, 778 palm manuscripts covering mathematics, science, and mythology are stored there, demonstrating the extent of Telugu cultural influence in Tamil Nadu. This cultural patronage by ancient kings highlights Tamil Nadu as a symbol of cultural integration, which everyone should recognize.

#BoycottSaiPallavi Trends Over Army Comments as Her War Film 'Amaran' Releases; Bollywood PR Drama Exposed?
Sai Pallavi's latest film 'Amaran' is set to release this Diwali as a festive treat for the audience. The film, set against an army backdrop, has kept Sai Pallavi very busy with promotions. During this period, some netizens have targeted her, calling for a boycott of Sai Pallavi's films on social media. The hashtag #BoycottSaiPallavi is trending nationwide. A video of her past comments, perceived as insulting to the Indian army, has been going viral on social media for the last three days.
What Actually Happened?
As known, the film 'Amaran' is set against an army backdrop. This has brought Sai Pallavi's controversial past comments about the Indian army back into the spotlight, causing the related video to go viral. During the promotions of the movie 'Virata Parvam,' Sai Pallavi gave an interview to a YouTube channel, discussing terrorism and violence. She remarked, "We view Pakistani soldiers as terrorists, and similarly, Pakistanis see our Indian soldiers as terrorists. They think we are harming them. Violence is no solution to any problem. Wars were fought in the past when there was no law. Now, there is no need for that." These comments have ignited fury among netizens.

Demand for Boycott
In the same interview where Sai Pallavi allegedly disrespected the Indian army, she also made remarks that have been construed as offensive to Sanatana Dharma. This video too has gone viral, with netizens campaigning on social media for everyone to boycott Sai Pallavi's films. Nationalist and traditionalist groups are demanding a 100% boycott of Sai Pallavi's films, suggesting that since she favors Pakistan, she might as well make films there. They are criticizing her harshly, saying she is not really the national crush but a different kind of crush. A netizen has also demanded a boycott of her latest film 'Amaran' and even called for her removal from the upcoming Hindi film 'Ramayanam,' in which she is supposed to play Sita. There are demands for stringent action against those who speak ill of Sanatana Dharma. On the other hand, Sai Pallavi's fans are defending her, claiming her words are being twisted and unnecessary controversy is being stirred up.

Are They Deliberately Targeting Her?
Recently, during the promotions for 'Amaran,' Sai Pallavi made interesting comments. She mentioned that someone from Bollywood, representing a PR agency, approached her promising to enhance her image. However, she rejected this offer, stating she had no need for such services. Now, accusations are surfacing that this is a targeted campaign to tarnish her image as she is about to make her Bollywood debut with 'Ramayanam.' There are significant comments urging her removal from the role of Sita. Discussions in film circles suggest that the Bollywood PR teams are deliberately targeting Sai Pallavi.
