Pottel Movie Review: 'Rangasthalam' Level Telugu Film? Sandeep Reddy Vanga's BOLD Comparison, Ananya's De-glam Avatar Shocks, But Second Half DISAPPOINTS!
Pottel Movie Review: 'Rangasthalam' Level Telugu Film? Sandeep Reddy Vanga's BOLD Comparison, Ananya's De-glam Avatar Shocks, But Second Half DISAPPOINTS! Cast: Yuva Chandra Krishna, Ananya Nagalla, Ajay, Priyanka Sharma, Tanasvi Choudary, Noel Sean, Chatrapathi Shekhar, Srikanth Iyengar, Jeevan, Riyaz, Vikram, and others. Written and Directed by: Sahith Mothkuri Music by: Shekhar Chandra Cinematography by: Monish Bhupathi Raju Edited by: Karthika Srinivas Producers: Nishank Reddy Kudithi, Suresh Kumar Sadige Production Companies: Nisa Entertainments, Pragnya Sannidhi Creations Release Date: 25-10-2024 In the latest film Pottel, Ananya Nagalla and Yuva Chandra pair up in a film directed by Sahith Mothkuri, who made his directorial debut with the film Savari. Pottel has garnered unprecedented publicity for a small-scale cinema. Pan-India director Sandeep Reddy Vanga praised this film by comparing it with Ram Charan's 'Rangasthalam.' The screenwriter Trivikram also raised expectations by lauding the film. Released on Friday (October 25), did this film meet expectations? Did it bring success to Ananya? Let's see in this review. Plot The story unfolds in Gurramgadda village, located at the borders of Maharashtra and Telangana. The villagers conduct a festival for the village deity Balamma once in every cycle and offer sacrifices. It is believed that during this time, the deity possesses Patel (Ajay), the village head, who then prevents the villagers from progressing, particularly in education. On the other side, Pedda Gangadhari (Yuva Chandra) serves as the keeper of the sacrificial animals and secretly educates his daughter. When Patel finds out, he makes the sacrificial animal disappear. He threatens to sacrifice Gangadhari's daughter if the animal isn't found by the festival. What does Gangadhari do to save his daughter? Is he able to bring back the animal? What role does Bujjamma (Ananya Nagalla) play in this story? Performances Ajay, as Patel, delivers a powerhouse performance, surpassing even his impactful role in 'Vikramarkudu.' Newcomer Yuva Chandra excels as Gangadhari, a man desperate to educate his child and improve his village. Despite being his debut, he perfectly fits into his role. Telugu actress Ananya Nagalla gets a substantial role and shines as Bujjamma. Even in a deglamorized role, she delivers an exceptional performance. Singer Noel also got a significant role and did justice to it. Srikanth Iyengar and Chatrapathi Shekhar lived up to their roles, along with other supporting cast members who performed competently within their limits. Direction Director Sahith Mothkuri captures the essence of a rural 1980s setting right from the beginning, immersing the audience into that era within the first 20 minutes. He vividly portrays how the oppressed and weak were subdued during the Patel era, focusing on the prejudices rooted in caste and pride. The introduction of characters, the love story between the hero and heroine, and other scenes are well-handled in the first half. However, the second half seems a bit faltering. The director appears to rely too heavily on the villain's oppression to drive emotional engagement, resulting in scenes that sometimes lack logical continuity. Nevertheless, the director succeeds in connecting the audience with the film's underlying message. Technically On the technical front, the music and cinematography departments have performed well. The songs and background score positively impact the film. However, editing flaws are noticeable, particularly in the second half where scenes drag. The art department excels, recreating the atmosphere of the 1980s with their workmanship. Plus Points - Story - Lead performances - Music Minus Points - Lack of engaging narrative - Dragging scenes Rating by Telugu.yousay.tv: 3/5

Varun Tej’s 'Matka' Movie Review: The Rise of a Gambler Turned Gangster Cast: Varun Tej, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Nora Fatehi, Naveen Chandra, Kishore Kumar, Ajay Ghosh, Ravindra Vijay, Mime Gopi, Rupalakshmi, and others. Writer and Director: Karuna Kumar Music: G. V. Prakash Cinematography: Kishore Kumar Editing: Karthikeya Srinivas Producers: Rajani Talluri, Vijender Reddy Teegal Release Date: November 14, 2024 The latest action entertainer starring mega hero Varun Tej, 'Matka,' directed by Karuna Kumar and featuring Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead, has been produced jointly by Vijender Reddy Teegal and Rajani Talluri. The film team has vigorously promoted it as a significant career booster for Varun. The recently released trailers, teasers, and promotional materials have heightened expectations. Has the film, released on November 14, lived up to expectations? Has it delivered success to Varun, who has been struggling with flops? Let's find out in this review. Plot The movie 'Matka' is a gangster story spanning from 1958 to 1982. Based on the life of a gangster named Ratan Khatri who migrated from Pakistan to Mumbai, this film unfolds. Regarding the story of 'Matka'... Vasu (Varun Tej) comes from Burma to Visakhapatnam in search of livelihood. He works as a laborer and faces numerous hardships. Vasu has a goal to achieve something significant in life. In this pursuit, he steps into the world of Matka gambling, which unexpectedly turns his career around. Excelling in Matka, he rises to a level that no one else can reach. He ascends to the level of controlling the system as a gangster. How did an ordinary young man become Matka Vasu? What challenges did he face in this journey? Who is Sujata? What is her love story with Vasu? You'll need to watch the movie to find out. Performance It can be said that Varun Tej (Matka Movie Review) has excelled as Vasu. With 'Matka,' he has stepped up his acting game. He has meticulously crafted his look, hairstyle, and walk to do justice to his role. He impressed with variations in his character appropriate to his age. Meenakshi Chaudhary got a significant role, and her chemistry with Varun worked well. Bollywood beauty Nora Fatehi, in the role of Sophia, created magic. With her charm, she captivated the audience. Saloni from 'Maryada Ramanna' fame, along with Naveen Chandra and Satyam Rajesh, appeared in key roles. The rest of the cast performed well within their scope. Direction Based on the life story of gangster Ratan Khatri (Matka Movie Review), director Karan Kumar crafted this film. He captivated with his excellent direction set in the 1970s and 1980s. The director succeeded in presenting his envisioned story accurately. Particularly, choosing Varun Tej for Vasu's role and extracting an outstanding performance from him is a complete success for the director. He excellently presented how an ordinary young man, Vasu, became a significant figure by exploiting Matka gambling to control the country. However, the director faltered a bit with the screenplay. Occasional drag in scenes and a lack of strong background for characters other than Varun are negatives. Technically... On the technical front (Matka Movie Review), the cinematography was a significant plus. Cinematographer Kishore Kumar took the audience back to the 1970s with his expertise. The art department also worked hard to deliver an authentic periodic experience. Music director G. V. Prakash's songs were not particularly memorable, but the background music was good, enhancing the action sequences. The editing was okay, and the production values were high. Plus Points - Varun Tej's acting - Action sequences - Cinematography Minus Points - Screenplay - Dragging scenes - Songs Rating by Telugu.yousay.tv: 2.5/5

Nikhil's 'Appudo Ippudo Eppudo' Review: A London Love Story That Misses Its Mark Cast: Nikhil, Divyansha Kaushik, Satya, Ajay, Sai Ram Reddy, Rukmini Vasanth, Harsha Chemudu, and others Writer, Director: Sudheer Varma Music: Karthik Cinematography: Richard Prasad Editing: Naveen Nooli Producer: B.V.S.N. Prasad Release Date: November 8, 2024 The latest film ‘Appudo Ippudo Eppudo’ features young hero Nikhil, directed by Sudheer Varma, known for films like ‘Swamy Ra Ra’ and ‘Keshava.’ Produced by B.V.S.N. Prasad and presented by B. Bapineedu, Rukmini Vasanth plays the lead actress, with Divyansha Kaushik in a key role. The film hit theaters on November 8. How does it fare? Does it captivate the Telugu audience? Has it brought success to Nikhil? Let’s find out in this review. Story Rishi (Nikhil), from Hyderabad, is a carefree young man with little interest in his career. He falls for Tara (Rukmini Vasanth) at first sight. However, due to certain dramatic events, their love ends in a breakup. After the heartbreak, Rishi shifts his focus to his career and moves to London. There, he trains as a racer while taking up odd jobs for pocket money. During this time, he becomes close to Tulasi (Divyansha Kaushik) and even decides to marry her. But Tulasi suddenly goes missing. Meanwhile, Tara, the girl he once loved, unexpectedly shows up in London, and Rishi finds himself entangled with a local don, Badrinarayana (John Vijay). Who is Badrinarayana? What happened to Tulasi? Why did Tara come to London? To find out, you’ll have to watch the movie. Performances Hero Nikhil captivates as usual with his steady performance, entertaining the audience with his looks and comic timing, though there are no particularly striking moments in his role. Rukmini Vasanth impresses with her natural acting, skillfully expressing emotions and proving herself as a talented actress once again. Divyansha Kaushik shines in her role as Tulasi, a character with negative shades, and receives good marks for her looks and glamour. Comedian Harsha Chemudu’s timing brings laughs, while John Vijay and Ajay’s roles are average. Satya and Sudarshan add momentum to the storyline. Direction Director Sudheer Varma opted for a routine story for ‘Appudo Ippudo Eppudo’ but managed to infuse his mark through storytelling and screenplay. Notably, he introduces the story from the perspective of a third person (comedian Satya), which adds interest. However, the two love tracks between the hero and heroines feel tedious. The introduction of the hero and his first love track make the first half feel slow, while the second half is somewhat better. The director struggles with key scenes, and the twists reveal poorly. Nevertheless, he manages to keep the film afloat to some extent with the comedy of Harsha Chemudu, Satya, and Sudarshan. The film lacks commercial appeal, and weak action sequences are additional drawbacks. Technically In terms of technical work, Richard Prasad’s cinematography is good, while Karthik’s songs are average. The background score is passable, editing is adequate, and the production values match the story well. Plus Points Nikhil’s performanceComedyCinematography Minus Points Weak storyTedious love tracksLack of commercial elements Telugu.yousay.tv Rating: 2/5

Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam Movie Review: A Glimpse into the Struggles of Middle-Aged Unemployment Cast: Rao Ramesh, Indraja, Ankith Koyya, Ramya Pasupuleti, Harshavardhan, Ajay, Annapurnamma, Praveen, and others Written and Directed by: Lakshman Karya Music by: Kalyan Nayak Cinematography by: M.N. Bal Reddy Edited by: Bonthala Nageswara Reddy Presented by: Tabitha Sukumar Co-producers: Rushi Marl, Shivaprasad Marl Produced by: Bujji Rayudu Pentyala, Mohan Karya Release Date: August 23, 2024 Starring Rao Ramesh in the lead role, the film 'Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam' is directed by Lakshman Karya. Indraja, Ankith Koyya, and Ramya Pasupuleti play key roles. The film is presented by prominent director Sukumar's wife, Tabitha Sukumar. The presence of Allu Arjun at promotional events significantly attracted audience attention. Let's find out if the film was entertaining through this review. Plot Subramanyam (Rao Ramesh), a resident of Maruthi Nagar, was selected for a teaching job in 1998. However, due to a court stay, the job was put on hold indefinitely. Since then, he has resolved not to take up any other work and lives unemployed. His wife, Kalarani (Indraja), works as a clerk in a government office. They have a son, Arjun (Ankith Koyya), who falls in love with Kanchana (Ramya Pasupuleti) at first sight. Amidst hardships, one day, unexpectedly, Subramanyam's account receives ₹10 lakhs. Who deposited the money? Did Subramanyam finally get his government job or not? What did his son do to win his love? You'll have to watch the movie to find out. Performance There's nothing new to say about Rao Ramesh's acting; he perfectly embodied the character of Subramanyam throughout the film, utilizing his extensive experience. His son, played by Ankith, was quite captivating. After last week's 'Aay', he has impressed again in this film, and his antics provide a good dose of laughter. Ramya Pasupuleti, who played Kanchana, didn’t have much scope for acting but made a notable attempt at glamor. Indraja's role was limited; apart from being emotional in the beginning and dancing at the end, there wasn’t much for her. Other characters like Praveen, Harshavardhan, and Annapurnamma were satisfactory. Direction The director, Lakshman Karya, has woven the narrative around the unemployment struggles of a middle-aged man belonging to the middle class. His incorporation of natural scenarios with a touch of humor has been successful. The sudden change in Subramanyam's demeanor once money is deposited into his account, and the ensuing antics are the highlights. The second part of the movie, revolving around the problems after spending the money, is well-directed. Although predictable, Rao Ramesh’s timing and humor elevate the film. The plot twists in the climax add intrigue, but Ankith’s love track and some illogical scenes and unfunny comedy bits are downsides. Technically... On the technical front, every department has performed well. The cinematography is notably colorful, and the songs are pleasant to listen to. The background score effectively elevates the scenes. Editing is also decent. The production values appear quite rich. Plus Points - Rao Ramesh's acting - Comedy - Climax Minus Points - Ankith's love track - Predictable narrative Telugu.yousay.tv Rating : 3/5
