This Week’s OTT &  Telugu Movie Releases (9th  August)

After the release of ‘Kalki 2898 AD‘ and ‘Bharateeyudu 2‘, there’s a renewed interest in indie films in Tollywood. Similar to last week, the second week of August features releases of small films starring lesser-known actors. Movies Releasing in Theaters

Committee Kurrollu

Produced by Niharika Konidela, the latest film ‘Committee Kurrollu‘ features Sandeep Saroj, Yashwant Pendyal, Eshwar Rachiraju, Trinath Varma, and Prasad Behara in lead roles, with Sai Kumar and Goparaju Ramana in supporting roles. Directed by Yadu Vamshi, the film is set to hit theaters on August 9. The film team has indicated that the movie contains many elements that will appeal to the youth. The trailer and teaser released so far have already garnered attention.

Simbaa

Featuring Jagapathi Babu and Anasuya Bharadwaj in key roles, the film ‘Simbaa’, directed by Muralee Manohar, is a supernatural crime thriller. The film, jointly produced by notable director Sampath Nandi and Dasari Rajendra Reddy, is also scheduled for release on August 9. The movie, releasing in theaters on the same day, promises to show the dire consequences of environmental destruction.

Toofan

Starring ‘Bichagadu‘ fame Vijay Antony and directed by Vijay Milton, ‘Toofan’ also stars veteran actor Sathyaraj in a significant role. The film, jointly produced by Kamal Bora, D. Lalith, B. Pradeep, and Pankaj Bora, was originally slated for release on August 2 but was postponed to this week due to unavoidable reasons. The film is now set to debut on August 9.

Bhavanam

Starring Saptagiri, Dhanraj, Shakalaka Shankar, Ajay, Malavika Satheesan, and Sneha Ullal, ‘Bhavanam’ is directed by Balachari Kurella. The film, releasing this week on August 9, is produced under the banner of Super Good Films by R.B. Choudary, Wakada Anjan Kumar, and Veerendra Seervi. It combines suspense and entertainment in equal measure, according to the film’s crew.

Movies and Web Series Releasing on OTT

Bharateeyudu 2

The Kamal Haasan and Director Shankar’s combo ‘Bharateeyudu 2‘ is making its way to OTT this week. It will start streaming on Netflix from August 9 and will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film, which hit theaters on July 12, was considered a disaster and faced significant criticism. It remains to be seen how it will be received by the OTT audience.
