    Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Liger’ movie Review

    August 25, 2022

    Plot

Ramya Krishna (Balamani) moves her son Liger (Vijay Deverakonda) from Karimnagar to Mumbai so he can pursue MMA training. Liger is cautioned not to pursue women or fall in love because his mother prohibits it, but he does so and ends up doing so with Taniya (Ananya Panday), an affluent young woman. The essence of the story is how Liger goes from being a national champion to an international one and what transpires after that.

    Analysis

Puri Jagannadh usually completes a film in six months, but “Liger” took him more than three years to complete due to Covid and other factors. The large-scale combination of Puri and Vijay was eagerly anticipated by the audience.

The movie begins on a high note with Vijay’s amazing entrance, living up to the hype. Despite the positive beginning, the momentum wanes and ends. The audience is left in the lurch by the predictable plot and predictable screenplay. The only consolation in the first half comes from Vijay’s Characterization. Due to Ananya Pandey’s (Taniya) poorly developed written character, the audience wasn’t really impressed with her performance. Liger (Vijay) strives to win the global championship, much like in a typical sports movie, as the tragic love tale between Taniya (Ananya Panday) and Liger plays out. The struggle between Vijay and his affluent peers and the typical love-track mishaps are very common movie scenarios that may be found in any movie.

Despite the predictable narrative, the first half is entertaining to watch, but Puri completely fails in the second. In the second half. The second part focuses on Liger’s journey to the international level. Overall, the film is more Hindi and less Telugu. Telugu viewers think it’s a Hindi movie with Telugu dubbing.

    Performances

While Vijay is excellent at stuttering as Liger in many scenes, he stumbles when the audience might find it over the top and unnecessary. He just dominated the professional boxer avatar. Ananya Pandey has limited screen time and mostly her performance is liked by some individuals and despised by others.

The character development in Ramya Krishna’s performance is good in the first half, but the second half becomes chaotic as a result of her outrageous antics. In their different roles, Ali, Makarand Desh Pandey, Getup Srinu, Ronit Roy, and Vishu Reddy all shine. Mike Tyson has a terrific screen presence, but Puri did not use him well.

    Technical Aspects

Numerous composers contributed to the score for Liger. This film’s soundtrack blatantly lacks Telugu nativity. Sunil Kashyap’s background score is favourable. Vishnu Sarma’s cinematography is elegant. The employment of high production qualities is restricted to theatrical settings. The editing by Junaid Siddique should have been better because the movie felt too long.
