The IPL 2022 season is about to end in only two weeks. The teams were battling it out for playoff positions as the league moved closer to its final schedule. The new clubs, Gujarat Lions and Lucknow Supergiants, have comfortably secured playoff spots with 8 wins in 11 games. After a terrible season, Mumbai was officially eliminated from the playoff race. The Chennai Super Kings are also on the verge of elimination. Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders are fighting for the final two playoff positions.
Sunrisers Hyderabad opened the season with two straight losses, but then went on to win five straight games. Hyderabad fans believed their club would easily secure a playoff berth, but the tides reversed following their fifth victory. They had now lost four consecutive games, putting their playoff aspirations in risk. Can SRH make it into the playoffs? How, if so? Let’s have a look.
Possibility No.1
With 10 points from 11 games, Sunrisers Hyderabad are in sixth place in the table. Hyderabad’s net run rate has dropped to negative numbers after a 67-run loss against RCB. If SRH wins all three of its remaining matches by large margins, they will claim fourth place in the table and go to the playoffs. A positive run rate puts us ahead of RCB even if they win two of their next two matches.
Possibility No.2
Along with Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Delhi, Kolkata, Punjab, and Bangalore are vying for the third and fourth places. As an SRH fan, you must wish that all five of these teams lose their remaining games so that SRH can easily qualify for the playoffs. SRH must not lose any of their remaining games. For the SRH squad, it’s now or never. In their final three league matches, SRH will face Kolkata, Punjab, and Mumbai. The other two opponents, with the exception of Mumbai, are still vying for a playoff position.
