Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Amaran’ Shatters Records: ₹300 Crore Club Entry and Unstoppable Box Office Run!

Kollywood star actor Sivakarthikeyan headlines the film Amaran, which explores various facets of the life of the late Major Mukund. Released grandly in Telugu, Tamil, and other languages on October 31, the movie has achieved super hit status. The film Amaran, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy with Sivakarthikeyan as the hero and Sai Pallavi as the heroine, was released on October 31, coinciding with Diwali. Telugu audiences have also wholeheartedly embraced Amaran. The movie’s Telugu rights were sold for ₹4 crores, with a break-even target of ₹8 crores. However, the film received an unexpectedly positive response in Telugu, garnering gross collections (Amaran Collections) of ₹41 crores to date. This has resulted in a 500% profit margin for the Telugu distributors. Additionally, in Tamil Nadu alone, Amaran has collected ₹143 crores. It also grossed ₹11.50 crores in Kerala, ₹22 crores in Karnataka, ₹4.5 crores in the rest of India, and ₹79 crores overseas, delighting the Amaran team with such a response.

The Unexpected Flop of Kangava…

While the film unit of Amaran expected a hit, they did not anticipate these levels of collections, especially since they thought the Pan-Indian film Kangava starring Suriya, which released on November 14, might affect their long-run collections. However, Kangava received unexpectedly poor reviews, making Amaran the primary choice for moviegoers who, along with their families, preferred watching a good film in theaters. This is why the movie’s momentum at the box office (Amaran Collections) hasn’t slowed down even after three weeks. The film Amaran, which has created a tsunami of collections in theaters, is set to debut on OTT by the end of this month. Reports suggest that it will start streaming on Netflix from November 29. If there’s a need to postpone the release date considering the collections (Amaran Collections), it’s assured to hit OTT by December 5 at the latest.
