Directed by Koratala Siva and featuring Jr NTR as the hero, the film ‘Devara: Part 1‘ is creating a storm at the box office. Despite being released 18 days ago, the film’s momentum hasn’t slowed down. It broke even in all areas shortly after release and continues to perform strongly. Even though there was some negative talk on the first day, it did not impact the collections. Having already set several records, the film recently achieved another milestone by surpassing the record set by Rajamouli’s ‘RRR‘. Moreover, it accomplished a feat that even global star Prabhas hasn’t achieved yet.
A New Chapter in Telugu Cinema!
The film ‘Devara’, starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, has set another box office record. In 18 days since its release, it has consistently brought in more than a crore each day in AP and Telangana. This film has become the first Telugu film post-COVID to achieve such a feat, a record previously held by ‘RRR’ for 17 consecutive days of similar earnings. Now, Jr NTR’s impact has broken that record. Reports suggest that even Prabhas’ recent films (Radhe Shyam, Adipurush, Salaar, Kalki 2898 AD) did not achieve this milestone, highlighting Tarak’s strong pull at the box office.
How Much Did Devara Collect?
The film ‘Devara’ grossed ₹509 crores worldwide in just the first 16 days, as officially announced by the makers. Adding the collections of the last two days, it is expected to reach ₹520 crores. The combined gross for AP and Telangana has been ₹222.60 crores. Karnataka contributed ₹17.70 crores, Tamil Nadu ₹4.13 crores, Kerala ₹97 lakhs, and Hindi + Rest of India ₹33.55 crores. If the trend continues, reaching ₹550 crores seems easily feasible. It remains to be seen how far this film will go in the long run.
Has the Streaming Date Been Set?
Netflix has acquired the digital streaming rights to ‘Devara’ for a substantial amount. With 18 days past since the film’s theatrical release, everyone is eagerly awaiting its OTT release. The latest buzz suggests that ‘Devara’ might hit OTT as a Diwali treat. An official announcement is expected soon. If it doesn’t happen by Diwali, the release is likely in the second week of November. Netflix secured the rights for ₹150 crores, with a contract to stream the movie 50 days post-theatrical release.
‘NTR 31’ Loading!
Following the blockbuster success of ‘Devara: Part 1’, it is known that Jr NTR will collaborate with Prashanth Neel in the upcoming ‘NTR 31‘. Initially expected as a sequel, Prashanth Neel has decided to make ‘NTR 31’ a single part film, surprising everyone. Tarak will reportedly play a farmer from Bangladesh, with the entire story set against a Bangladeshi backdrop. The heroine has also been confirmed for this movie, with Kannada beauty Rukmini Vasanth set to star opposite Jr NTR. She is currently working with Nikhil in ‘Appudo Ippudo Eppudo’.
