Malayalam beauty ‘Mamita Baiju‘ became a star in Telugu as well through the film ‘Premalu‘. Her performance in this movie won the hearts of Telugu youth, who have crowned her as the queen of their dreams. Mamita Baiju has also received accolades alongside Sai Pallavi. After ‘Premalu’, Mamita Baiju received a slew of offers in Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil. In this sequence, her recent Tamil film ‘Rebel’ has garnered positive feedback. However, the Telugu version of this movie silently made its way to OTT, surprising everyone.
Where is it streaming?
The Tamil movie ‘Rebel’, featuring music director GV Prakash and Mamita Baiju, was released in theaters on March 22. The film, a political action drama, marked Mamita Baiju’s entry into Kollywood. However, it did not achieve the expected success and ended up with mixed reviews at the box office. Consequently, the prominent OTT platform Amazon Prime brought this movie to streaming just two weeks after its release. Currently, the film is available in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada on streaming.

This is the plot of the movie ‘Rebel’.
How is the movie?
Directed by Nikesh, the film is based on real-life events in the life of a student from Munnar, Kerala. The director successfully mirrors the current situation in Kerala, showcasing the frequent conflicts between Tamil and Malayalam students. GV Prakash delivered an excellent performance. The movie provided a good scope for ‘Premalu’ beauty Mamita Baiju to showcase her acting skills. The BGM by Siddhu Kumar elevates the scenes, and the camera work by Arun Radha Krishnan is outstanding, capturing key scenes effectively. However, director Nikesh struggled a bit in presenting his intended point. Despite having the opportunity to explore emotional scenes in the second half, the film failed to do so. It also did not adequately explain the real reasons behind the conflicts between Tamil and Malayalam students. Ultimately, the film will appeal to those interested in religious and political issues, as many scenes are intertwined with various political angles.
