K. Viswanath is a prominent director who brought immense honor to Telugu cinema. His films, set against the backdrop of Indian fine arts, gained international recognition. He made his directorial debut with the film "Aatma Gowravam" (1966) and won a Nandi Award for his first film itself. His masterpieces include "Sankarabharanam" , "Sagara Sangamam" , "Sruthilayalu" , "Sirivennela" , "Swarnakamalam" , "Swathi Kiranam" , "Saptapadi" , "Swathi Muthyam" , "Swayam Krushi" and "Aapadbandhavudu", which are considered gems of Telugu cinema. Not limited to direction, he also gained recognition as an actor, appearing in significant roles in hit films like "Narasimha Naidu" , "Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule" , "Tagore" , "Athadu" , "Andhrudu" , "Mr. Perfect" and "Kalisundam Raa." In 1992, he was awarded the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award and the Padma Shri. In 2016, he received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. K. Viswanath directed a total of 60 films. His film "Sankarabharanam" won a National Film Award, and "Saptapadi" received a National Film Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. "Swathi Muthyam" was India's official entry to the Oscars in 1986.
