    New Districts

    At the beginning of this year, the state government of Andhra Pradesh decided to form additional districts. The Council of Ministers have raised 13 districts to 26.

    Each Lok Sabha constituency was made into a district. Araku is divided into two districts. The orders will take effect in Ugadi.

    DGP to APPSC

    Gautham Sawang, the DGP of Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed to lead the APPSC. Allegations have been made that law and order were not effectively upheld. Rajendranath Reddy was then assigned new duties and eventually made as a DGP.

    New Judges New judges have joined the

    New Judges have taken oath in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Although there has always been a need for 37 judges, the collegium has only proposed 14 candidates this year. At the start of the year, seven judges were nominated, and seven more were nominated in August.

    Capital Amaravati!

    Andhra Pradesh’s capital issue continues. The government is not moving ahead with the establishment of three capitals and the struggle of Amaravati farmers continues. Sometimes ministers say that they will bring the bill again. 

    In this context, the AP High Court gave a sensational verdict that Amaravate is the capital. It concluded that the Assembly does not have the authority to legislate by moving the legislative, administrative and judicial bodies to different areas.

    Death of Mekapati Gautam Reddy 

    Minister Mekapati Gautam Reddy passed away earlier this year. He died of cardiac arrest while working out in the gym. In honour of Gautam Reddy, a gazette was published naming the Sangam barrage after him.

    “Integrated Renewable Energy Storage” Project Pylon was inaugurated. This is the world’s largest project, costing Rs. 30,000 crores. Mittal Company has entered into a business agreement with this project.

    New Cabinet 

    New leaders have a chance now that the AP Cabinet has been reshuffled by CM Jaganmohan Reddy. The unfortunate leaders Perni Nani, Kodali Nani, and Anil were once again excluded from the government.

    Roja, Thaneti Vanitha, and Rajini all received cabinet roles. The Deputy Chief Ministership was handed to five persons, one from each socioeconomic background, as it had been before. Once more, the SC community candidate has been given responsibility for the Home Ministry.

    Alluri Sitaramaraju statue 

    The legendary revolutionary Alluri Sitaramaraju’s 125th birth anniversary celebrations were held grandly. As part of this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 30-foot-tall statue at Bhimavaram in West Godavari district.

    Sangam, Nellore barrages have been inaugurated

    which provide water to one lakh acres, were built by the British less than 140 years ago. Sri Potti Sriramulu was built near Sangam on Penna river in Nellore district. CM Jaganmohan Reddy named it after the late minister Mekapati Gautam Reddy. 

    New Chief Secretary

    Jawahar Reddy is appointed as the new chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh. He will serve the state until 2024. 

    Jawahar Reddy’s prior role as CMO has been taken up by Poonam Malakondaiah as he transitioned to the CS position. The Chief Minister named Sameer Sharma, who retired as CS, as his Chief Executive.

    Ayyanna Patrudu’s arrest 

    The state was stunned by the arrest of former minister Ayyanna Patrudu and his son. They were detained as a result of a dispute that started over a fence wall of  Ayyanna Patradu’s home.

    When somebody attempted to destroy Ayyanna Patrudu’s fence wall, which is said to have been unlawfully built on a farmer’s land, he filed a lawsuit in court and won. However, his arrest in the same case for filing fraudulent paperwork raised some issues.

    Attack on Lokesh 

    The rape of a class ninth grade girl in Tummapudi of Guntur district created a stir. The opposition has blamed the government for this.

    When Lokesh visited the victims, some pelted him with stones. Additionally hurt in this was a SI. While TDP blamed the incident on the YSRCP leaders, the YSRCP asserted that it was a pre-planned ploy by TDP to discredit YSRCP leaders.

    NTR University Stir

    The A.P. government has passed orders changing the name of NTR University to Dr. YSR Health University. A big uproar broke out over this. Many people, including the TDP, have criticised this move by the YSRCP government.

    Idem Karma Rashtraniki

    The Telugu Desam Party organised a programme called ‘Idem Karma Rashtraniki’ to highlight the shortcomings of the YCP regime and instill awareness among the people.

    Starting in Eluru district, 50 lakh families and approximately 2 crore people have formed an activity to learn about the hardships in 50 days. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu headed this campaign.

    Fuss in Macherla 

    Things got intense during the “Idem Karma Rashtraniki” campaign in Macherla, Palnadu district. YSRCP and TDP rangers attacked one another with sticks, stones, and glass bottles.

    The police immediately imposed Section 144 and brought the situation under control. It was heard that the reason for this was the TDP in-charge of the area, Julakanti Brahma Reddy.

    Pawan – Chandrababu Alliance

    After losing the last election, Chandra Babu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan first met in Visakhapatnam. In the middle of the intense controversy surrounding his campaign in Visakhapatnam, Pawan Kalyan made the announcement that he is joining forces with Chandra Babu’s TDP.

    Ippatam Controversy

    During his visit to Mangalagiri, Pawan Kalyan complained that the government was tearing down the homes of those who had offered land to host the Janasena assembly. It is alleged that the ruling party will indulge in disturbances whenever it wants. In this sequence, conflicts emerged.
