The aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought drastic changes in corporate and IT work structures. Due to the pandemic, almost all sectors have continued their operations by working from home. People have become more accustomed to working remotely, and many companies have found that they can operate just as effectively (if not more so) with a remote workforce. However, Elon Musk has taken a different stance on the matter. He has told his employees that they need to come back to the office or resign. Musk believes that working from home is detrimental to productivity and creativity. He feels that people need to be in close proximity to each other in order to collaborate effectively. While there are certainly some advantages to working remotely, it seems that Musk is not willing to compromise on this issue.
Mr. Musk has sent an email to all of his Tesla employees regarding this matter. The Tesla CEO urged his employees to start working from offices or depart from Tesla. He also added that an employee should spend a minimum of 40 working hours per week in the office. Musk specifically stated that if this is not possible for any exceptional contributor, he will personally review and approve the exceptions.
Although he didn’t address this issue on his Twitter, where he is very active all the time. He supported this statement by replying to a tweet made about his mail to his employees.
