  • Family Star: Censor Board’s Shock to ‘Family Star’!

Featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur, and directed by Parasuram Petla under the production of Dil Raju, the film ‘Family Star’ is scheduled for release in just two days (April 5). The successful duo of Vijay and Parasuram, known for their hit ‘Geetha Govindam’, has sparked considerable anticipation. Having recently cleared its censor formalities, the film has also made a notable impact with its pre-release business. Here are the details.

How Much is the Pre-Release Business?

Family Star,’ eagerly awaited by audiences, has performed impressively in its pre-release business, securing a total of Rs. 43 crores for its worldwide theatrical rights. Breakdown by regions shows that in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together, the film garnered Rs. 34.50 crores—specifically, Rs. 13 crores from Telangana (Nizam), Rs. 4.5 crores from Rayalaseema (Ceded), and Rs. 17 crores from AP. Moreover, the combined sales from Karnataka and the rest of India stood at Rs. 3 crores, while the overseas market contributed Rs. 5.5 crores. This accumulation of Rs.43 crores, as reported by trade analysts, sets the film’s break-even target at Rs.44 crores.

    Censor Board’s Jolt!

‘Family Star’ has recently completed its censor formalities. The censor board issued a U/A certificate and fixed the run time at 2 hours and 43 minutes. However, it’s reported that the board suggested muting four dialogues in the movie. It’s understood that there are no deleted scenes in the movie, but during a song featuring liquor bottles, the labels were asked to be blurred out by the censor board. Apart from these, there are no significant objectionable scenes in the film.

    Tough Competition from These Films!

Despite being a star hero’s film, ‘Family Star’ faces stiff competition from two movies. One is ‘Tillu Square’, and the other is the Malayalam blockbuster ‘Manjummel Boys’. ‘Tillu Square’, released last Friday, is running successfully with super hit talk and is expected to continue drawing good collections into the weekend. It has a good chance of receiving favorable audience response in its second week as well. On the other hand, ‘Manjummel Boys’, which stood as an industry hit in Malayalam, is releasing on April 6. Telugu audiences are eagerly waiting to watch this movie, which created minted collections. It will be interesting to see how ‘Family Star’ performs against these two contenders.
