Sangeetha Krish is one of the former star heroines of Tollywood. She has captivated audiences in many films with her beauty, acting, and dance skills. She became popular as a heroine in several superhit films. Currently, she has started her second innings as a character artist and is attracting attention. Today is Sangeetha’s birthday, stepping into her 46th year. Let’s delve into some interesting aspects of her life.
Producer’s Family
Born in Chennai on October 21, 1978, her real name is Rasika, which she changed to Sangeetha after entering films. Her grandfather, K.R. Balan, was a prominent producer in the Tamil industry, having produced over 20 films. Her father, Shantharam, also produced several films in Tamil. Sangeetha has been passionate about dance since her childhood, which led her to learn Bharatanatyam during her school days. She made her entry into the film industry with the Malayalam political action thriller ‘Gangothri’ (1997). Her first Telugu film was ‘Circus Sattipandu‘.
Recognition through Films
Though she acted in ‘Circus Sattipandu’ in 1997, she did not get many opportunities in Telugu at that time and shifted her focus to Tamil and Malayalam films. After a gap of two years, she returned to Telugu cinema with the movie ‘Asala Sandadi‘ (1999). Subsequently, she acted in superhit films like ‘Khadgam‘, ‘Pellam Oorelithe‘, ‘Khushi Khushiga‘, ‘Sankranthi‘, and ‘Siva Puthrudu‘, and gained recognition as a leading heroine.
Love Marriage with a Singer
While at the peak of her career, actress Sangeetha got married. She had a love marriage with Tamil star singer Krish. She first saw Krish at an award function and was instantly smitten by his looks as she went on stage to receive an award from him. She connected even more with his attractive speech. Coincidentally, they both ended up at the same dinner with friends that night, where Sangeetha openly expressed her admiration for him. They exchanged numbers, got engaged within three months, and married eight months later. The following year, they attended the award function as a couple.
Second Innings Glory
Despite acting in several hit Telugu films, Sangeetha couldn’t sustain a long-term presence in the industry. It took her 10 years after the 2010 movie ‘Cara Majaaka‘ to act in another Telugu film. She made a comeback in the Telugu industry with Mahesh’s ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru‘. Previously known as a heroine and lead actress, she started her second innings as a character artist. She has acted in films like ‘Acharya’ (special song), ‘Masooda‘, and ‘Vaarasudu’ and captured everyone’s attention. Particularly for ‘Masood’, she even received a SIIMA Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Also a TV Host
In her second innings, Sangeetha is also thriving as a television host. She has served as a judge on Tamil dance shows like Jodi No.1, Dance Jodi Dance, and Super Jodi (Telugu), where she encouraged new dancers and gave appropriate advice. She also participates in festive special shows aired on ETV, captivating the television audience.
