The IPL 2022 came to an end with the Gujarat Titans emerging as the champions. The star-studded finale was dominated by the winning side. Rajasthan struggled to put runs on the scoreboard. The Royals have heavily relied on their dashing opener, Jos Butler. Butler had a phenomenal IPL season with 4 centuries and over 800 runs to his name. Butler’s stunning century against the Royal Challengers Bangalore raised the stakes for the final.
Samson won the toss and opted to bat first. RR got a decent start from the openers, Butler and Jaiswel. RR fans were hoping for a big innings from their big man which would bring their team much-needed silverware. The Gujarat bowlers bowled really well. Hardik Pandya got Buttler in his over. Butler departed for 39 runs made from 35 balls. After his departure, RR failed miserably to score runs. GT bowlers succeeded in taking wickets at regular intervals. RR set a target of 131 for GT, which was comfortably chased down by the Gujarat batters. In their debut season, GT chased the target in 18.1 overs to bag their first IPL trophy.
Butler was enraged by his dismissal. He moved impatiently towards the pavilion as he exited but he couldn’t control his rage as he approached the pavilion. He twisted the helmet fiercely and hurled it out of the pavilion. Butler won the Orange Cap with 863 runs this season, which was the only soothing news for RR.
