The Malayalam film ‘Manjummel Boys’ has created a new record. Having already shattered several records, this film has now grossed over Rs. 200 crores, becoming the first Malayalam film to achieve this feat (The Highest Grossing Malayalam Film Ever). It’s noteworthy that ‘Manjummel Boys‘ achieved this level of collections within just the first 25 days of its release. No Malayalam movie before has crossed the Rs. 200 crore mark. Following its release, last year’s film ‘2018’ was the highest-grossing Malayalam film until ‘Manjummel Boys’ came along and took its place.
Coming to Telugu on March 29!
Directed by Chidambaram and featuring Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapath, Lal Jr., and Deepak in key roles, ‘Manjummel Boys’ is a survival thriller that hit the screens on February 22. Mythri Movie Makers are set to release this movie in Telugu on March 29. Another Malayalam film ‘Premalu’ (Premalu) that was released earlier this February also achieved significant success and became a hit upon its release in Telugu, setting a record for the highest-grossing Malayalam film in Telugu.
Top-5 in Collections
Following ‘Manjummel Boys,’ the movie ‘2018’ holds the second position. Released last year, ‘2018’ garnered gross collections up to Rs. 180 crores until ‘Manjummel Boys’ surpassed it. Following them in the list are Mohanlal’s ‘Manyam Puli‘ (Rs. 150 crores gross) and ‘Lucifer’ (Rs. 130 crores gross). The recently released ‘Premalu‘ also made it to the fifth position with gross collections of Rs. 117 crores so far.
What is the story of the movie?
Based on a real incident that occurred in 2006, ‘Manjummel Boys’ tells the story of a group of friends from Kochi who go on a trip to Kodaikanal. Upon learning about ‘Gun Guha,’ they decide to explore it despite the guide’s warning not to venture into prohibited areas. Ignoring the warnings, all friends enter the cave, and during their exploration, a young man named Subhash falls into a hole inside the cave. What happens next? Is Subhash alive? What daring act do the ‘Manjummel Boys’ perform to save their friend? That forms the rest of the story.
