  • NTR’s ‘Devara’: Inspired by RRR and Set for Historic Beyond Fest Debut

The film ‘Devara‘, a collaboration between NTR and Koratala Siva, is set for a worldwide release on September 27. As a pan-India film, the Devara team has been busy promoting it in Bollywood recently. They have also conducted an event in Tamil Nadu recently, building hype there as well. As the release date approaches, Tarak has been actively participating in the promotions without rest. In a recent interview, he made interesting comments about the film, heroine Janhvi Kapoor, and music sensation Anirudh Ravichander, which have now gone viral.

    ‘Didn’t Initially Consider Janhvi’

Janhvi Kapoor stars alongside Tarak in ‘Devara’. This film marks her first introduction to the Telugu screen. However, Tarak revealed in a recent interview that Janhvi was not initially considered for the heroine role. While writing the story, there was no particular actress in mind for the role. At that time, Karan Johar called and said, ‘Janhvi is a good actress. It would be good if we take her in our film,’ recalled Tarak. “Even then, we didn’t think about taking her immediately. But she strongly wished to be part of it. By the time the scriptwriting was completed, she had joined the team. She was very nervous about acting and the language at first, but performed well. Her acting surprised everyone,” Tarak explained.

    Inspired by RRR

The title of a film is very important, especially for a pan-India film, where it needs to connect with everyone at a national level. That’s why there is a lot of homework done on titles for star hero films. Tarak shared in the recent interview that this was also the case with Devara. He also revealed the reasoning behind fixing the title ‘Devara’. He had thought from the beginning that the film needed a title like ‘RRR‘ that would resonate nationally. “That’s how ‘Devara’ was finalized,” he clarified. Tarak mentioned that ‘Devara’ means ‘God’.

    Anirudh on Par with Rahman

Anirudh Ravichander provided the sensational music for ‘Devara’. Already, the songs “Fear”, “Buttamalle”, and “Daavudi” from this film have been trending nationally. In this context, Tarak showered praises on Anirudh, stating that his era is ongoing and lifted him to the skies. “Anirudh knows how essential music is for a film, and he is an amazing person. He works hard until he achieves the desired results,” praised Tarak. He opined that Anirudh would reach the level of A.R. Rahman and expressed hope that he would compose for international films as well.

Devara as the First Indian Film at ‘Beyond Fest’

Before its release, ‘Devara’ has already set several records and has now added a rare honor to its achievements. It is set to be the first Indian film to be showcased at the prestigious Beyond Fest 2024 in Los Angeles. No Indian film has been featured at Beyond Fest to date. This record will be exclusively Tarak’s. The festival will take place from September 25 to October 9. On the other hand, ‘Devara’ also broke the North American presale ticket record, becoming the fastest Indian film to collect 1 million dollars through presales.
