Starring Sunil, Shraddha Das, Chaitanya Rao, and Malavika Satheesan as the leads, the film ‘Paarijatha Parvam,’ directed by Santosh Kambhampati, is intriguingly subtitled ‘Kidnap is an Art.’ The trailers and teasers released beforehand have heightened audience expectations. Let’s find out how the film released in theaters on Friday (April 19) has fared.
The Plot
Chaitanya (Chaitanya Rao) harbors ambitions of becoming a film director and passionately pitches his script to producers, casting his friend Harsha in the lead role. After facing repeated rejections, he resolves to finance the film himself. To raise the necessary funds, he concocts a plan to kidnap Shetty’s (Srikanth Iyengar) mistress. At the same time, Bar Srinu (Sunil) and Paru (Shraddha Das) devise their scheme to kidnap the same individual. Amidst these overlapping plots, questions arise: Who kidnaps Shetty’s wife? What is the true identity of Bar Srinu, and what is his backstory? Does Chaitanya achieve his dream of becoming a director? This forms the crux of the story.
Performance Analysis
Chaitanya Rao, in the lead role, captures attention with his handsome looks and delivers a consistent performance. The film centers more around the characters portrayed by Harsha Chemudu and Sunil. Harsha particularly shines with his impeccable comedic timing. Sunil, too, entertains with his humor, reminding audiences of his classic style. Malavika, playing the heroine, performs competently. The comedic interplay between Harsha and Malavika adds humor to the film. Shraddha Das effectively plays a bar dancer. Srikanth Iyengar and Surekha Vani return in noteworthy roles after a significant hiatus.
Direction Quality
Director Santosh Kambhampati presents this comedy against the backdrop of the film industry, focusing on the challenges filmmakers encounter throughout their careers. The plot involves Chaitanya attempting to produce a movie starring Viva Harsha as the lead, with their interactions with producers providing comedic relief. Kambhampati successfully harnesses the comedic abilities of Harsha and Sunil, enhancing the film’s humor. However, Chaitanya Rao’s talent seems underused. The film’s narrative is straightforward, marred by a weak screenplay and predictable twists, making it rather ordinary. Logical inconsistencies emerge particularly after the kidnapping plot thickens, which dilutes the comedy and lessens the audience’s engagement. Initially promising a fresh take with its movie-making theme, ‘Paarijatha Parvam’ ultimately falls prey to several directorial shortcomings.
Technical Aspects
The film stands out technically with its exceptional cinematography and high production values. The music director, Ree, brings a vibrant and contemporary touch to the soundtrack, although the background music falls slightly short of expectations. The producers have upheld a high standard throughout, making no compromises on quality.
